I figured that since there were several threads for Sorikonian poets on the previous website I may just as well start one here. Enjoy!

1. Which came first, the phoenix or the flame? But it does not matter, for the answer is the same Now the question falls to you my friend What has no beginning and has no end? Will the world still turn or will it burn Before the Circle starts again?
2. Imagine a tree, young and green Tended by a spring, their potential unseen Now the tree is older, and putting out some limbs And though the spring is greater its devotion never dims And as each limb blossoms, the flowers falling to the ground The water moves ever on, never making a single sound Then a new tree comes, growing from the old Yet this was has no water, growing lifeless and cold This land has been transformed into dust, that which was once green The water devoured by the trees, the spring an ancient dream
3. You see an image of yourself, reflected in the water Yet when you move the water ripples The image breaks, your mind shatters So in order to keep the water still, what must you do? You must lose yourself to find your peace, to be born anew
4. Blood and tears mingle as your wound takes its toll The dark is spreading; you have failed your goal And as the first light appears you see a field of spears The dead and the dying united in their fears Death will eventually come for us all But face your fears, make sure you stand tall The dying will hear her call
5. The wind blows softly across your face It’s touch as soft as a whisper of lace It’s voice carrying the ones Of those who sing
6. Will you remember the wind, a touch of air? Will you remember the earth, the lives of those there? Will you remember the sky, a plane of blue? Will you remember the rainbow, possessing infinite hues? Will you remember the children, bringing joy and strife? Will you remember the memories, reminders of life?
7. Time is called many things A river, a lake, a wheel, or wings Yet it travels ever onward After were dead and gone So which of us are the pawns? Who are the bishops and who are the knights? Who are the castles surrounded by lights? The queen is there to, though may not be seen The signs of her passage only felt where she’s been Now the last question, most important of all Who is the king, and when will he fall?
8. A flower falls onto the water A beautiful spark, gone in a flash Nothing as devastating as the slaughter Caused by a deer, eating the grass
9. The names of those who fought and fell Under cliff and over dell Engraved upon the stones lying here Carved by blood, preserved by tear Under a pile of earth their corpses now lay Over which flowers grow in the light of day
10. How wise is old mother Nature?
Does She guides her children's feet
To many a flowery pathway So the childs heart may beat Sometimes in intricate channels As a mountain stream may run? But will her purpose ever triumph And will her goal be won? Her eyes are the eyes of a the earth And she whispers her decree The stream shall join with the river
And the river shall reach the sea
Have we have failed to read the riddle
Of our impulses and desires That burn in the soul of our body Like the sun's great heart of fire? Will the storm carried bird Come to its sheltered nest?
And will the boulder fall to the ground For the earth to holds it to her breast? And will the blossom show its beauty For those who wish to see? The stream melds with the river
And the river greets the sea.
But whatever we name it Be it Destiny, or Fate Will it leads the king to his kingdom The prince to the palace gate? Which poet shall write the words That lingers on your lips? And will the land-locked harbor Hold the wandering ships? And will the soul gain its rest Where your forbearers be? Will the stream meet the river
And shall the river hold the sea?
11. The one I loved has gone forever The world has no more charm for me My life is like a shallow river That ripples lonely to the sea
The one I loved rests beneath the willow That bends in beauty by the stream How I long to share her pillow And sink into an endless dream My heart lies inside my chest And aches to join her in the earthy bed For I know that is for the best My love is gone, my heart is dead
12. I think you sent the withered leaves That blew all day across the grass And all that day they fluttered by A tattered, flying mass
For all the world was whirling leaves
Against the lonely, wind-swept sky And every leaf was whispering
Your name as it flew by
Tonight the leaves lie quietly Sodden and still beneath the rain
That drums against the rippling mud Heedless to my pain
13. Towards the shore the waves boil and run The gray sea birds from their rage flee Beneath the brief winter sun Beside the winter sea. With chilly gleam the water shines The sand with icy shadows glow Away from the beach the waving pines
Stand somber in the snow. The horizon shows a metal glint A wall by the roiling sea patrolled The empty sky holds the hint Of cruelty and cold. The north wind bites, for it is a dirge Keyed to the sad sound of the surge
Beside the winter sea
14. What is this thing that we call fate? Why do so many continue to hate? What is justice to the eyes of the judged? What is vengeance to those without a grudge? What is pain to those who cannot feel? What is color to those for which only shadows are real? What is love to the ones that are alone? What is peace to those with hearts of stone?
15. A brooding pond in the hush of dusk,
as black as the pools of night Rimmed round with somber spruce, gaunt ghosts in the phantom light A beating of heavy wings in the dark,
a rush from the dismal glen A sudden swoop and the leaden wings
went beating back again. In the utter gloom of that sunken land,
never a creature stirred As night beat into the sullen swamp
with the wings of that ghostly bird
16. Silence is an absence, silence is profound Silence is a conversation being had without a sound Silence is an expression, one that cannot be heard Silence cannot be spoken, although it is a word Silence can fill a room and have no form at all Silence cannot be dropped, yet it can still fall Silence is a mystery that will forever go unsolved Silence is how every sound can swiftly be dissolved Silence is the sound of sleep, when you go to rest The only sound other than music that can sound the best So what is your silence, what is your soul? What is your whisperings, what is your goal? What lies within your eyes and mind? What waits in the silence, what is it you shall find?
17. I have come to the dear old threshold with eager, hurrying feet, To scent the wondrous lilies that were once so white and sweet To taste the fruit from the trees leaning over the garden wall To gather the golden apples that down in the orchard fall I passed by the wild hedges and up the weed covered walk
And beside the fall of my footsteps there was only the insects talk The plants grew wild in the garden and the nettles thick and tall Had throttled the beautiful lilies that once leaned on the cottage wall The little house is now empty its ceilings are covered in cracks once more And the dust and mold are lying thick on the unused floor There are no footprints in the doorway no clothes hung in the hall And the spirits of death and silence sit and reign over it all No eager faces of children brightened the windows dark Never a sound was heard, except the cries of a single lark So I turned and walked through the withered garden that grieved to see me pass To seek the mellow apples that drop in the orchard grass But I found the trees to be dead long having rotted away away The lake that I once thought eternal all foul and poisonous lay A black snake crept from its hiding and hissed in the marshes wild And I bent my head in the rushes and cried for my home as a child
18. Black turns to white, and white turns to gray I see the life I have lived compressed in a single day I see the faces of all those I have helped and those that I have harmed I see the faces of those that trust, and those that were alarmed I see the face of my lover, cold and dead and pale I don a suit of armor on my heart, dark and heavy mail I weave a mask of golden thread to hide my stricken eyes I weave a robe of frozen tears to hide all of my lies I weave some shoes of heartfelt hopes to carry me ever on I weave a hat of my dying courage to make sure the sorrow is gone I heft a burning shield on my arm to ward of all the tears I shall wear these items forevermore, until my final years 19. The river flows towards and flows away A lonely stream whispering through forests gray
No noiseless ripples over its surface play Moving forever onward As silent as a winter's night With shadowed heavens all alight And stars shining so strangely bright
So quiet is the river No damns nor breaks the river finds And in no strange course it winds But straight from were the mountains shine Moving forever onward A crystal shade of blue and green Over buried rocks flows the stream Like sleep before a nightmarish dream So quiet is the river In patterns that shine silver in notes that remain unsung Slowly the river travels away from were it had begun And lies golden green under dusk’s weary sun Moving forever onward A flow of diamonds in the moonlight cold Well the night forever onward rolled Lit only by the moon and stars, like some vision of the old
So quiet is the river Oh the water forms the waves serene
That last but a single second, never to be seen No more to be as they have been Moving forever onward For underneath its restless flow Too black for the full moon’s light to show Lie hidden wonders none shall ever know So quiet is the river
20. I once walked far along the winding rivers bank Felt my feet on the mud as farther in they sank Into the soft wet earth that lay besides the water Thinking of my home, my brother and mother and father
I though so deeply of what I lost And that which I have gained As I walked across the winter frost And cast aside that which I was named
From then on out I have lived in the shadows The bard without a song The puppet without a master The one who tries to right the wrong
I am the shadow without a light And body without a soul The storm without the wind and rain Which lies over the grassy knoll
I have come in a circle once again Back to the river upon which I first tread And I asked myself this question once more What is a body without the head?

I have a few poems...
Guilt
Darkness, darkness, all around me. Everywhere I turn, all deep inside me. I take my blade, I take my weapon, to fight them, In the fated place, upon the hills and in the tree.
No matter what, no matter how, I fight them off with vigor. But no matter what, no matter how, the fight shall take a turn. For the worse it shall go down, and they come to fight me blindly. I slice and dice, but overwhelmed, I turn to face my destiny.
They take the tree and burn it down The fire bright and painful. The flame come close, the flames come far And in their place comes blackness.
As I awake in shadow, No worries in my mind. Suddenly, a scream is heard, I descend another level.
Through gloomy fog, and misty rain I make out a friend of mine. He runs towards me, with open arms.
But as this happens, I see something strange. A knife in his hands, a deadly blade I knock it off, I pick it up I take it and I kill him.
I awake, upon the tree A smoking heap of rubble. I see the friends, upon the ground My thoughts are very troubled.
And as I think, I see them again The ones behind it all No matter what they send I shall make them fall.
I take the knife, it glows bright red I kill them one by one And as I do so, I see them fall As friends and family, all along
In the tree, I stare at them Crying as I see their eyes Dead and lifeless, they lay As night began to fall
Upon the world I tried to run I had to break free. But every corner that I turn, somebody's stabbing me.
I run and run Ignoring wounds, As I break free of the world In perfect harmony with everything
But something's wrong, something amiss The sky is bloody red. I see the ones, who I had killed Staring at me through the stars.
The stars start moving First slowly, then quick They rocket towards me, as I stand helpless Waiting for death to come
They hit me hard, My body is broken I float through space in agony Under the watchful eyes of the stars
They set me free, I'm still in pain As they throw me on the street. No matter what I do Guilt will always find me.
Foretelling
As I wake Below the moon Upon a darkened evening
I take my knife My trusted blade For I must not be sleeping
It grows so cold So very cold As I step throughout the shadows
Finally, I believe I see My corrupted and dangerous target By the name of Bardow
And no matter What I do I shall kill him
For as I walk My mask upon my face The light is rather dim
He lets out a shrill cry Guards, please do help me As the protectors came rushing in
I stabbed the first I kicked the second I broke the neck of the third
I then slit the throat Of my target And I began to fly like a bird
Upon a glider I soared Upon paper wings I foretold my next target.
Vision Tenfold
I see all.
I see absolutely all Everything, and everyone.
Everyplace, every molecule None escape my eye As I survey the world from my small straw bed.
My house lies under a bridge Long forgotten, it stands My parents dead, I have no friends Nobody to share my wisdom.
And as I lie My vision fades Through thousands of years it stood And yet I have let it go.
Upon my bed, I watch the world turn grey All that was silver glass is now a bleak, disgusting place And as I see this I feel something I have never felt Pain.
The pain is dull And then grows sharper My heart is thumping slower My skin turns grey Then rots away Leaving only bones and memories And another has received the curse of Vision Tenfold.

Just last even a group consisting of Reese, Nial, Allison, Karen, Henry/William (sorry, couldn't tell which), one other person that I can't remember the name of, and I went to deal with the haunted outpost that had these self-escilating haunts at it. Long stoy short we solved the haunt and Taka (one armed blind guy), being a poet, wrote one about the haunt. Hush little child, don’t be afraid Sleep little child, in bed be laid Lay your small body to its gentle rest Curl up tightly in your own little nest You were locked up in your tower Unable to touch a single tree or flower But they never returned to let you out And so you shivered and cried and wandered about Until the day you died Your spirit continued, unable to fade Hush little child, don’t be afraid We came to help you, to let you pass To let you finally feel the earth and grass At first when we tried, we were met with defeat And returned to what we knew best, food and heat But when we tried again, and talked to you We told you what happened, made sure you knew And you were allowed to continue on The situation surrounding this particular haunt made me rather depressed, but at least we solved it quickly (sort of)

Virva's Lullaby (dedicated to Mask):
Rest, my friend, be at ease The world will live without you Rest, my friend, be at peace For you deserve some rest too You look so sad and drained
Rest, my friend, be at ease Don't force yourself to be pained Rest, my friend, be at peace Through this wake nothing is gained So sleep now, do not fight
Rest, my friend, do not hide Sleep yourself through the night Rest, my friend, have you not tried? You will be well when it's bright When there is day anew
Rest, my friend, be at ease The world will live without you Rest, my friend, be at peace For you deserve some rest too For you deserve some rest too

Prisoner's Song (Shailar)
Singsong shadows Why do you sing? Doesn't it matter That you've got no wings?
Singsong shadows Sing me a song. Sing till the sun's low And the shadows long.
Singsong shadows Why do you smile? When you all will disappear In a short while?
Singsong shadows Dance with me, Until the darkness falls We can be free!
Betrayer (Shailar)
Oh once there was a friend of mine Who thought the world was well and fine Though never did the bright sun shine Upon his merry way~
Oh once there was a friend of ours Who'd tend to fields and to flowers And that bright sun, it shone for hours Upon his merry way~
Oh once there was a friend of yours Who spent his life behind closed doors But through the window bright sun pours Upon his merry way~
Oh meet me in the shadowed halls Behind the locked doors and the walls And burn with me as sunlight falls Upon our merry way~

Travelers Rest
You have traveled long and traveled hard Along the windy road So enter please and take a seat Lean your staff against the wall I’ll bring a drink and bring a pipe And light a roaring fire And as you listings to the dancing flames hiss Can you guess why I’m doing this? If you can’t I’ll tell you now I have no cunning or guile The reason why I’m doing this Is to see you smile
Flame's Touch
I saw the fire burning bright As it roared all through the night And I could not turn my eyes away Until the bright new light of day
I felt the flames against my skin As to ashes it turned my kin And so I walk a path of pain So much to lose yet more to gain
I stand alone before a dark road I begin to walk, to carry my load I must reach the light at the final end Before my wounds can begin to mend

All that I Have Seen
I looked and saw the pouring rain Extinguished by the dancing flame The singular flickering point of light Banishing the infinite and steady night
I looked and saw a lonesome tree Standing by the howling sea Stripped by a strengthening breeze Bare of all its leaves
I looked upon a great dead land Bare but for the desert sand A vast canvas just waiting for paint To rid it of its lifeless taint
I looked upon the faceless moon But I had to turn away to soon For all that I had seen with eyes and mind I was but still wandering blind

Time: Written for the "Heros of Sorikona" by Unknown
Minutes, Hours, Seconds, Flowers Time is all, Time takes all Even the greatest must bow As the weakest do Time gives all, Time takes all It gives its self to you For you to spend it as you will For better or for worse.
Minutes, Hours, Seconds, Flowers Time doesn't care, it lives on Only we as people do, You may continue as you are Crushing petals, Not caring who you kill, Or change your path Plat a rose, Spare a Life, End a war.
Minutes, Hours, Seconds, Flowers, Time remembers all, Time knows all It looks for great change, It feels change, Now have your Time, Have your chance, Choose the latter of your choices, For not just Time but people too Will feel and Honor your path. Make Your Choice.

Fire Safety
When I was young By my parents I was told Don't play in the fire Don't play in the coals
Even when your older If you don't want to be burned Not torching yourself Is a good lesson to learn

That was actually written in game, by the way.
And here's a random sonnet that I forgot to post last month. Tea and Water
The tea and water flowing makes a sound Against porcelain mugs and crystal glass Three people sharing little common ground Sitting together as the moments pass
Talking, playing laughing as if old friends Tea and water are flowing in each cup Fire growing brighter as the day ends Conversation lifting emotions up
Teapot, table, board and pieces for chess Food and drink and cup and plate and a grin Sometimes we will only leave a large mess But now warm voices echo through the inn
Mask and the kitsune sitting here with me Sitting here and smiling and drinking tea

A poem that I just came up with. I guess my poet/enchanter/prodigy character made this:
"Don't eat people"
A jaguar grew up, with the saying all around. Anywhere he went, he heard: "Don't eat people."
Now of course he wouldn't. Why should he? It made perfect sense. So he always knew: "Don't eat people."
Then a human, came along, and did elder sorcery on him. But the jaguar still knew: "Don't eat people."
What did it do? The elder sorcery performed? It made that cat a little smarter. So now the cat really knew: "Don't eat people."
But the cat started thinking, about other creatures. They were like people too. But cats are carnivores and thing that killed him was: "Don't eat people."
