How the book works is that you put 1 mana in and the book will ask you a question, if you can answer that question it will allow you to ask any question. It also seems to follow the old mana system in that you can only do it 3 times.
The first question it asked me was, "What are you?" I explained that I was a dragon singer, dragon priest, runesinger that was blessed with a divine intervention from the dragons. It accepted this answer and the question I asked was, "What are you?" It said that it was from a different plane and a rough translation would be an elemental.
I put another mana into it and it asked me where the Grappler of the Errant Thief was made. Due to my high levels in historian I knew that this is a sentient magic item that is used to trap the souls of thieves who go against the guild. I did not know where specifically it was made so I answered Roekron. It accepted this answer so the question I asked was "Why is the magic fading?" It seemed to be sensing around and I got the feeling it didn't know the answer until I asked the question. It's answer was that "it appears that their are several elements that are out of balance and this is connected with the fae, there is a place where magic used to flow and it's not as numerous, there is also a strong source of primal energy that are being destroyed/removed." At this point it seemed to stop, and it said, "These document appear to be edited, all the information I told you before seems to be corrected but all the other documents seem to be altered so I do not know if it's true" This may be a rule of innocence thing or there might be an actual place where the book gets its knowledge from and for some reason it was tampered with.
At this point I was out of mana and tired so I left the rest of my questions for another day.

The next day I got a mana storing item so that I could use the book the full three times, unfortunately the first two times I tried I failed to answer the questions correctly, the first was a riddle that when I failed, the book cursed me. The curse was that whenever I took damage I would die. The second was a question about the old mechanics of treeform ball which when I messed up on. The punishment was the book laughed at me which was almost worse than the curse.
The third question was "In a Drake litter there are 6 eggs, how many of these eggs are actually Drake eggs and how many are Drakespawn?" I have species lore so I already know that a Drake litter contains 3 Drake eggs and 3 Drakespawn eggs. The question I asked was "Where do you get your knowledge from?" It answered that "The knowledge that I find is strewn about, some of it resides in the overlay, some of it floats around between waiting to be picked up, some of it is from divinity but that information is hard to interpret and may not be completely impartial, the predominant amount of my info is from the stormwatch tower entity, I can do a search through the answers and their connections that have already been found to find my answer, I do not know the answers before asked but sometimes I can deduce it due to the storm watch tower algorithm.
This raises a lot of questions and if anybody would like to due any research with this book you can come to to Rusty in Pinnacle.

How available is the book of answers for general use? If I have a character in steelfist can I ask the book a few questions?

The character in question was in steelfist recently and is over there currently working on something. You could ask him a question but the two conditions are that you have to be the one to ask the question and at the end you have to tell me the question and answer just for record keeping purposes. You could ask that I don't make it public but I would still like to know. Will you be at the Palo Alto junior league camp in a week?

This is a research report I did on the Book for the Keychain. Enjoy!
Preface: The Book on Answers is a sentient magic item with its own alignment and personality. The book that I posses is Neutral Good which matches my alignment allowing me to use the book. The way the book works is that you pay a mana into it and it asks you a question, the questions vary from, “Where is the Grapple of the Errant Thief made?” To, “What is the difference between the old treeform ball to the new treeform ball?” If you fail a question there is a 30% chance is curses you, 30% it takes a level away from you, 30% it dishonors you and 10% laughs at you. If you succeed in answering this question you get to ask a question that it will answer to the best of its abilities. It also seems to follow the old mana rules which means you are only allowed to use it three times a day.
The Book on Answers By: The Dragonbard
One of the first questions I asked this book was, “Do you enjoy being in this form?” It answered that, “I do not enjoy being in this form when I am not in use, but I do enjoy being used and being asked questions.” What I pull from this question is that a sense of companionship can be built with a character due to the fact that it might be grateful to them for the consistent use. I think that this is important to create a sense of comradeship especially if you would want to act in a more synchronized fashion with this book.
When I asked the book where it drew its knowledge from it answered that, “The knowledge that I find is strewn about, some of it resides in the overlay, some of it floats around between waiting to be picked up, some of it is from divinity but I do not use that as much due to the fact that it is easily altered and is sometimes very vague, most of my info is from the stormwatch tower which, through the connection of all the different answers, I can do a search through the answers that have already been found to find my answer, I do not know the answers before asked but I can deduce it due to the stormwatch tower algorithm” The answer had a lot of information that could be pursued, namely the fact that it got its information from another sentient source, The Stormwatch Tower. The fact that it got its information from a physical place is interesting, more research should be executed on the Stormwatch Tower. I do not know if an identify has been done on the the tower and I doubt one has been made deliberately seeking the connection between the tower and the book.
The book does draw answers from the Stormwatch Tower but the answers it has already found stay with the book. It does retain knowledge that it has already received and I believe the fact that it enjoys being used is that fact that it too learns more, the book doesn’t know the answers until the person asks the question. After the book asked me what I was I asked what he was, he said he was, “Not from this plane, the best word in this language is probably something along the lines of elemental.” I talked to Keychain representatives about this and they said that it could be something along the lines of a knowledge elemental which have been speculated about but never proved. This also confirms my theory that it craves knowledge and loves to learn it as a knowledge elemental would.
In conclusion the Book on Answers is an immensely powerful magic item that we do not know a lot about, I believe it enjoys interacting with sentient beings and it enjoys having questions answered and answering questions due to its thirst for knowledge. I think that it could possibly become more powerful if a certain type of synergy was formed between the character and the book. I also think it requires a high level identify which I intend to do to really figure out the connection between the Stormwatch and the Book. I will continue to chronicle the answers I receive from this book and any other knowledge I receive. To any who would like to experiment with this, find me in Pinnacle.

When asked "What is the source of the armies of the starless night?" the book answered, "Correct".

I can tell you that it is CK that all the answers that the Book of Answers gives are controlled by, or at least reviewed by, mages at Stormwatcher Tower.
