Entry One - 8.1.3.2
The search for the source of Nari's unease continues. Maya says she is beginning to recognize some of the area from her Oracle, so we must be getting close. She keeps talking about vines, and if I face the Forest Gods in truth, it's driving me crazy. We spend hours following the trail every time we come across a set of vines, and, as we get into the old growth, it happens more and more. None too healthy looking too; I shudder to think what might have caused this.
I've been looking around the ethereal realm, and the damage is clear even there...if the haunts didn't attest to that, the warping would. The haunts are near un-solvable--doesn't bode well for us...
The vision talked about the "lifeblood"; sticks and stones, I wish we had been able to write faster! Lifeblood, mouth, eyes, and ears... Maya's theory is that the vines are like veins holding the forest together... but I'm not so sure. They just seem to be vines to me, and ugly ones at that.
As for me, I've been trying to figure out what "spirit spurned" means. It half reminds me of turning or rebuking an undead... more of a cleric thing classically, but it's something necromancers learn about too. But if you turn an undead, you're just putting a mana shield between you and them... if spirits are made partly of mana, does that mean you're just pulling mana away from them? It doesn't make any sense.
Oh well--more another day. We're moving on again, until Maya finds a new patch of vines.
Entry Two - 28.1.3.2
Everything's dead. The forest is dead. We were supposed to be keepers of the forest, and this is terrifying...
Some of the backlash hit Maya; she was in a trance, and now she's in a coma. Think she might die too. Nobody knows what to do, and nobody wants to take charge because that means we admit there's nothing we can do for her. Just camping here now, and hoping...
John is going to try another oracle to remember the vision. Got more last time. If the rule of three has anything to say about it, this will be our last. We have to fix the forest using mouth, ear, and eye, or "sleep wanes away"... do we have to plant seeds? We plant new trees all the time, but that's a little literal for this kind of thing. Who knows.
Hope Maya wakes up soon...
Entry Three -
Winter comes quietly, slipping inside
Wingbeats and heartbeats... (reside)
The forest is dying, for spirit has spurned
...spirit... twisted...
...seeds... planted
(power dyqy() sea...)
Seeds must be tended, or else they will die
Seeds... (planted)... mouth, ear, and eye
Lifeblood now holds them... grow
Yet sleep wanes away if tenders come slow
