I figured after all the events that happened, a chronicle explaining some of them would be expected, so here we go. My memory is faltering, so apologies if I confuse some of the details.
Hello. I guess I’ll introduce myself as Silver. Not many people know me, but that’s quite alright. A lot of people know- or know of- Cash, which is the important thing. Our story begins a couple years back, sometime in the year 16,140 in Glimindel. A group of adventurers had been exploring down a river, going after rumors of a kraken that was spotted. Honestly, I’m not sure what we were expecting. Maybe an abnormally large octopus, or perhaps some strange drakespawn that was stirring up trouble. I, at least, was not expecting to actually find a kraken. A truly magnificent creature it was, draped in a torn banner covered in crescent moons. It appeared to be a storm kraken,(because apparently that’s a thing) and was able to cast storm spells and do a variety of things I was not aware krakens could do. Me and a few others quickly became attached to this new creature, including one of my friends who managed to form a familiar bond with it.
Next, our party member, a Saint, offered to have herself eaten as if she died, she would be able to autorebirth. Once she was eaten, we heard nothing for a while, until some time later she was spit out, holding a bag of rings, many of which haven't been seen for many centuries.
Later that week, two friends of mine, including the young girl who familiared the kraken, decided to return to the river with me. We summoned the kraken and went up to it, allowing it to swallow us.
Inside the kraken was actually quite roomy, as if the creature had seats for us to sit down as it made its way through the river. After a few minutes we came to a stop and began to see what had killed our friends from before. As we saw from inside the kraken, it slowly began to squeeze through something, likely a small hole, with us inside. Our friend who familiared the kraken asked it to slow down, giving me time to transform into a small creature to survive being crushed. After the kraken has squeezed through, I healed both my friends and we looked around the cave the kraken dropped us off in.
It seemed like we were the first people to ever step inside this cave. An entire underground cavern, undiscovered, covered in holes so small no human could fit through. The floor was piled with items - gold, swords, crowns, armour - so many of them being mastercrafted and enchanted. The kraken swam over to a small corner of the cave where a group of tiny krakens were being living. The three of us split off, Ruby distracting the kraken while we looked around, my other friend, Alex, helped me collect items to identify. We didn’t get a chance to identify all the items, but we did find a few interesting ones including the Boots of the Monkey King, Plate of the Tiger Claws, and the infamous Dark Brand and Shadow Whip. Us, as young adventurers, found these items rather horrifying and thought it would be a wise idea to remove them from the cave and put them somewhere where they could be safely locked up. The kraken on the other hand was very protective of these and wouldn’t allow us to leave with them, so we had to find another way to take them out. After spending a bit more time in there, the cave began to fill up with water and we were forced to leave. My two friends killed themselves and wisped out, trusting me to take their items. I studied the location in the cave to return there later, then teleported out with their items.
A couple days later, we’re wandering around the riverbed. A group of undead showed up, one I believe to be a mummy and the other was some spectral creature. They came out of nowhere and ambushed us all, dropping our friend who had familiard the kraken and running off with her. After taking a moment to recover, we all ran after them, using whatever means we could to stay caught up. We ran for a while before others joined the chase: The kraken stormed in as well, swimming along next to us from the river. Sadly, more undead joined the people we were after, including a variety of vampires and other what appeared to be dark heroes. We followed the group back to the cave, though our numbers were picked off one by one by the growing group of undead. I managed to fly from behind a distance away to the cave they were at, though never successfully found my friend that had been taken. We all returned to our inn without our dear friend, and to our dismay we later found out the kraken had been taken as well.
Though the whole situation was confusing, we believe that the vampires allured our friend and the kraken, though in the process of the fight the girl had been killed and died permanently, the gods not even given a chance to save her. The vampires from Cash’s group had taken the kraken and the cave, gaining access to immeasurable amounts of magical items, making them all the more hard to kill.
Flash forward twenty or so years later, as I was wandering around Glimindel. I had recently heard rumors of kraken sightings along the river bank. My hopes rose, and I decided to pay a visit to this rumoured kraken. When we arrived, we first saw nothing, though after trying to summon the kraken the same way we did years ago, one did arrive. I was unsure if it was the same, but it was comforting nonetheless. This one was covered in symbols of crescent moons, different from our old friend. I approached it and it seemed to recognize me, though continued to attack the other friends who had come along. An undead hunter that joined us figured out that the kraken wasn’t a normal kraken, and had somehow been vampirized by the undead who took over, now either a vampire or revenant kraken. I’m not sure why, but something told me I could still trust this likely allured kraken and I stayed near it to try to talk to it. I do believe it listened, and after a while of fighting off the other people it picked me up and dove back in the water, heading off down the river.
In the perspective of others, I believe it must have seemed like the kraken grabbed me and ran, taking me back to the vampire’s where I was never to be seen again, but something very different happened. The kraken floated through the river for a while, passing by strangers walking down the side. What caught my attention was what happened to one of the groups we passed. The kraken stopped by the river bank, staring at a group of people who were walking by. It suddenly grabbed one of them, picking it up and tossing it in the water where it began to drown. Though as I looked closely, it was less like drowning and more like being harmed by the water, like what happens to vampires. It set me down on the bank as the vampire slowly died, the kraken seeming to be fighting with itself, like an argument between its own instincts and the allure of the vampires. After setting me down, it sped back down the river, still battling itself.
I must admit, what I did next was likely not the smartest idea of mine. On the riverbank I had been dropped off at, I began a ritual. After the proper time had past, I teleported myself into the cave where we had seen the krakens before. Now, I'm a pacifist, so when the vampires noticed me and approached me, I had nothing to do but stand there and attempt to start a conversation. Two zombie like revenants ordered by the vampire standing guard came and mana drained me, leaving me with just enough energy to stay alive. There in the cave I stayed for what felt like years..
I stayed in that cave for quite a while, though the exact amount of time escapes my memory. When I had first arrived, the vampires attempted to vampirize me and turn me into a carakwaith, through due to some events from my past their attempt did not work. A couple weeks, or so I believe, passed where I remained unconscious and tied up, until the vampires finally found a way to evade my defenses and turn me. I had successfully been made what they thought would be a carakwaith, though after an identify cast on me the results were… very unusual. I will not get into the details for safety reasons, but if you come find me I might explain more clearly what happened. I had become some sort of carakwaith, though definitely not a normal one. The identify showed to them that I was an unusual form of vampire with strangely divine abilities and lead them to believe that I had been allured and was under their control. For some period of time I acted like all the other vampires, following their orders and slowly climbing up the ranks and growing closer to Cash. I began to talk to him, similar to a therapist one could say, in an attempt to weaken his vampiric power through his regrets.
More time passed as that continued, when eventually an effect that turned a large majority of the items we had into furious haunts. Enough time had passed for me to know that it was time to enact the plan to exorcise Cash. There were some vampires that had secretly become reverted, going against Cash whenever the chance arose. Finally the battle came with the perfect chance to exorcise him - fighting a large group of item haunts.
Ah, I remember that I said the kraken situation was confusing- it was nothing compared to this. Apparently there were two of us that went undercover in an attempt to destroy Cash. Though this second person’s methods varied greatly from mine, we both succeeded. They did a variety of what I assume to be elder sorceries, though they were very unusual. Strange effects and strange results, but they did succeed in killing Cash and getting him to wisp. Once he was a wisp the strange person began singing and calling to the wisp to follow them.
There was a lot of commotion happening during this time, including vampires attacking one another and item spirits through the confusion of the song’s effects. While the wisp was stationary and listening to the song, I began to cast my ritual on Cash’s spirit, though it was difficult to do due to confusion between the inverted vampires. In the end, I managed to go into the ritual’s trance and began exorcising him. I would like to keep the details of this spell secret, though again if you are very interested in knowing I can try to explain.
Whatever the case, by the time the ritual had finish Cash had been, in a way, exorcised and returned to his pre-vampire self. I self exorcised during this process, no longer staying as the being I was and returning to my previous self with all but a few abilities. Both Cash and I have returned to normal and are able to be found and talked to if one is interested - Cash is quite a nice person if you get to know him, so don’t feel afraid to talk to him if you’re curious.
Whatever the case, I hope that cleared up some things. I am currently residing in Pinnacle, so if you have questions please don’t hesitate to come find me!
Thank you for listening, and sorry for the rant
