Time jump info for as many years back as I can find...
2010
Much can happen in 18 years. And my good reader a good deal can change when unbreakable boxes are opened, indestructible walls are cracked or impassable reefs are forded. Aye! you hear me right lads and lasses, it was soon after the famed bloodbath of Braknik, a year at most that the first Roekron ships were seen east of the blue reefs other then the famed Wayseeker. And what glorious ships they were! They settled quickly in these lands they did, colonies from the Jungalabai isles to Kai Lao and not to mention Skilhaven Island and the Salamani Isles. However they did not settle where most expected. Everyone was sure they would set up shop in Sandend but lo! By fate or plan this did not come to pass.
Once Roekron Ships were seen in mass in Terriok waters the infamous Wizard ships from the south sent an onslaught onto New Serpenton and practically wiped the city from the face of the earth. It is said that great lights of this battle were seen as far away as Maki Peak as well as by sailors and fisherman on the edge of the sea of Mercy. For reasons yet unknown however attacks on Roekron Forces from Wizard Ships abruptly stopped soon after the razing of New Serpenton.
Soon after ships emerged from the west Cyclone, Head wizard of the Wizard Palace in Sandend, was promoted to a new position in the west. Her replacement on the wizard council was the infamous human Necromancer Finorin Spiritwalker. Also posted to the wizard palace was the Human Publicantus, Storm mage extraordinaire. Why the need for a necromancer? Well it so happened that Oblin Ashentouch soon went missing after the closing of the Brakink Games and the following bloodbath. Little was known at the time of his demise outside Taknik village and a replacement was called for. All did not bode well however in the 6th year after the breaching. Evidence was presented at the high courts that the wizard palace was planning a coup and intended to take Gritten as a protectorate of Roekron. Members of the wayseeker presented the body of Oblin Ashentouch and tales that he had a skeleton army that had tried to wipe them out outside of taknik village. Rumors that an undead army had been amassing in the drinking sands had been verified by elven scouts that had returned from the desert with their minds unaltered. Since Oblin was dead it could only mean that Finorin had taken up his unfinished work. Sci Usar, outraged by the betrayal of his Roekron allies called for action. With in two days and a night he had marshaled support from King Havlin of the Horse lords, Queen Zubkek of the Phraints, and all 5 members of the Sarage council. The Oni battalion stationed in Grittin however had signed its agreement with both Sci Usar and representatives of Roekron and could not take part. General Rasu instead chose to send his elephant riders and Kai warriors to defend Gritten Keep against Grimsoeoth as Usar’s warriors rushed away from the front to rally with their leader. Sci Usar called for aide from his home country of Welande but no action did they seem to take and he could not afford to wait for them to act. It began on the fifth day when fire rained into Sandend from the wizard palace- half the city burned. Someone had spies – someone knew they were coming and the civil war had started. These were dark days. Warriors and wizard of Roekron who once fought side by side with the Sci Usar Guard and the Men at arms of Grittin against the forces of Grimsoeoth now turned on each other. The Wizard Palace became a fortress under siege and the City of Sandend a battle ground. Just when the forces of Grittin seemed to be gaining, the army of undead marched in from the drinking sands. With little or no Spell casters all seemed lost. If it were not for the “Heroes of Eleanas†that arrived with the famed “3 ship armada†it would have ended then and there. It appears the Heroes of Eleanas were spurred on by Captain Cloud of the four master Redeemer into action after hearing about the disturbing news in the north. He soon contacted captain Zero of the Black Sun and Captain Thorax of the four master Wavecutter. and together they marshaled the many of the old crew of the Wayseeker into action. The “Heroes of Eleanas†helped hold the undead at bay beyond the Walls of the city and kept Roekron ships from bringing supplies into port and to the Wizard Palace. On the seventh week despair almost took Usar when word came from the western front that the Oni had fallen and Grimsoeoth had taken Grittin keep and stood just at the edge of Oldroad. Little is known (or is common knowledge) of the reasons behind the following happenings. Some say it was a twist of fate others theories abound but for reasons yet undetermined Grimsoeoth crossed Oldroad but did not attack the city. They instead marched upon the wizard palace. Finorin responded by redirecting his undead from the city gates to defend their western flank against Grimsoeoth. Leaving their southern flank open Sci Usar seized the moment to attack from the south. And out of the north, the Welandess forces, the Gloved Knights of the Holy One (led by Long gloved Women with great longswords), descended on the Wizard Palace as well. Together Grittin and Welandess took the Wizard Palace and it was Sci Usar himself who struck down Finorin Spiritwalker. Grimsoeoth retreated to the western side of Oldroad and Sandend was freed. Sci Usar was made King and protector of Grittin in the 7th year But the city of Sand end was in ruin. Its Military greatly depleted, it’s infrastructure greatly damaged what was the fate of this fair city?
As of King Havlin of the Horse Lords- soon after he returned to the great plains great scuffles among the clans began in earnest. Within a year after Sanend’s Civil War, Havlin was assassinated and the horse lords descended into chaos. Over half their numbers decreased in the following years from raging blood feuds and a struggle for a new king (which the never had before Havlin).
Roekron soon rebuilt New Serpentine of Black Dust Island and they no longer came to port or trade in Sandend. As strange to many it did seem, Braknik became the main port of call between Roekron and New Serpenton on Black Dust island. Over the years Skillhaven seemed to change in character. Rumors that Dlog was making big changes in the “Organizationâ€started to pass among thieves and assassins. Braknik was now permanently OFF limits – rules of the Braknik games were in full force. Theft or assassinations became punishable by Morganti. The new slogan became “every day is game day in Braknik!†In the last few years Braknik has gained in power and influence over the entire region of the southern Isles. New places of commerce have popped up called Brakmarkets in Every city and town south of the Inner Sea. These are shops that are supplied from goods shipped from Braknik and cost considerably less then the local smith or market.
As for Sandend a new era has prevailed in the last six years. Trade goes well with Welandess and the Oni. Grimsoeoth has remains strangely at bay and quiet these last years. But rumors emerge that movement has been witnessed in the west again. That Grimsoeoth has an Armada sailing the Sea of Death. For the passed 12 years the “great beast†as King Usar called it has been sleeping but it appears to be stirring once more.
2011
25 years has passed since the fall of Fish in Braknik and much has changed in Terriok.
A new port, Cliffwatch, has spurred out of the west on the edge of the splinter cliffs. This port is officially a Shaloba outpost but is an open port to all in the alliance as well as Roekron ships passing through the blue reef passage.
Sandend has rebuilt itself and has become the breadbasket of the region providing needed grains and fruits for most of Terriok. However much of their temples and sacred sites were destroyed in Black Horse’s (Now known to be the Vampire Lance) sack of the city.
Vesterbundle the Dwarf is now Warden of Sandend and Chief of the Gritten Caretakers Council. The people of Sandend and Gritten had become weary of kings and now leave the stewardship of the realm to the Caretakers council. The Wizard Palace is untrusted by most of the common folk but remains in good standing with the Caretaker Council.
Havlin Town of the horse lords is deserted. Travelers from serpent’s tail claim the land is deserted of humanoids but rumors have spread that in recent years packs of wild horses have been seen roaming the plains.
East of Sandend is all under the light of the beacon atop Akani Peak. Refugees from the remaining horse lords have attempted to go back to their homeland but have never been heard of again. Those who venture to Kai Lou or Black Dust Island have met with a similar fate.
Information from Outpost Village brings word that the Mages of the South with flying boats. They have discovered their name “The TwiChen Mages†and information that they Patrol the coast of the plains as well as the waters around Black Dust Island and Kai Lou.
Harik remains elusive and since the “closing of the Elven veil†seems to have hardened in their stance and claim to the inner sea and their surrounding borders. Their near to nonexistent fleet has grown 20 fold and they dominate the interior water ways and ports as a force to be reckoned with.
The Pearless economy has suffered greatly and many assume it is due to Harik taxation and harassment. Still much of the finest weapons and silverwork are done there.
Welande’s might has diminished. The priestess of the Long Swords still rule but the constant barrage of Grimsoeoth on their borders has drawn on their resources. Harik's harassment in the inner sea hasn’t helped the Welandeians much either.
To the south Skilhaven has undergone a revolution of sorts since the fall of “Fish†and the liberation of the slave trade. The Hero’s who destroyed the Vampires in the city, resurrected the populace and freed the slaves were labeled the Liberation League by the people of Braknik. It wasn’t a name the Vampire hunters particularly liked but it stuck.
Shortly after the fall of the vampires, chaos began to ensue in the city, the Liberation league and the combined forces of the Eastern Sea Alliance were able to quell the anarchy as the slaves were freed and tried to kill their captors.
All of the members of the E.S.A. had a claim on Braknik and its wealth. A solution needed to be reached concerning the governance of the city and all of Skilhaven before a new war began within the alliance. Heroin Ezra (Alison) and other members of the Liberators spearheaded an effort to create a new government that would spread the wealth and power between all.
The final draft was created by a local scribe and Noble of Braknik. Gorbithal Inklwine had secretly been helping with the liberation movement before being turned by fish. Gorbithal perfected the document to the acceptance of the people of Braknik, the Alliance and the League of Liberators.
There will be 3 main Spokes and 5 support spokes that make up the Wheel of Braknik: The Spoke of Commerce, The Spoke of Alliance and the Spoke of Defense. The support spokes are 2 members of the Liberator league and 3 elected members of the people of Braknik: One member of the workers class or former slave class in the west, one member of the corsair class in the south and one from noble class in the east. (the slavers of the north of course getting no vote because they no longer are allowed in Braknik or are dead)
All spokes meet together at the grand council or “Hub†as it is called where the old Blood and Bone coliseum has been transformed into a great dome with separate chambers where all can meet and discuss.
The Spoke of Commerce is made up of 5 parties: The UMG, the Weapons Exchange, the Braknik Merchants Guild, the Dockworkers guild and the League of Gamblers. All (except the dockworkers) must pay a 20% tax of all sales to the betterment of Braknik but get a say and foothold in the city.
The spoke of Alliance is made up of the members of the Alliance as well as a member of the Liberators league- Each member gets a vote on anything concerning foreign affairs. (Each of the alliance provinces also receive a 1% collection from each of Braknik's collective earnings)
The Spoke of Defense is made up of three members: chief of Peace keeper, chief enforcer/tax collector and the Admiral of the Fleet. One of these appointed positions must be held by a member of the Liberators. They collectively enforce the laws, collect the taxes and protect the city from enemies foreign and domestic.
This document took little over a year to perfect and was signed by all the League of Liberators, all the heads of state of all Alliance members, All the members of the UMG and the Weapons exchange as well as other dignitaries and witnesses throughout Terriok. The Parchment was signed with a magic Pen binding the writers to this agreement (A gift from Pearless). Part of its magic required all magic items to be removed from the signer. Over the following years something seemed to go amiss with all who signed the document. It is not common knowledge but all who signed that document discovered in the years that followed that they could no longer deal damage to undead.
Many holdings were soon robbed including that of most of the wealth of the Liberator League and the OMG and the Weapons Exchange (as well as the vaults and troves of certain Thieves and Organization members of players) in every theft all that remained was a smiley face and the words “The Pen is mightier than the Sword.â€
Another horror has gripped the Slave population. All those who worked the mines on Black Dust Island die of an incurable lung disease and all characters who have inhaled black dust do so as well. Those who wore shackles and have scars from the chaffing experience Arthritic like symptoms in their feet and hands. 43 years have passed for those who were aboard the Wayseeker with Captain Finwing and were enslaved by the black shackle gang. These Characters have lost the ability to walk or hold anything. Those with limbs cut by Dirty Dark blades find their limbs have become maimed and sluggish. Those with wounds around vital organs and intestines have died or lay in bed unable to care for themselves.
Wenport has shrunk in size as many of the pigmy Elves left for the west or leapt into the waves during the “Closing of the Vail.†A handful of the elves have stayed behind to “Wait and see.†Wenport is now a small hobbit fishing village (all the houses of a size as it were).
The Oni have managed to maintain their original borders with Daltongron but much of their Military might has decreased. All seemed well until Daltongron Raiders raided the Rati and Kali temple during the Festival of Vishnu. Chaos ensued in the capitol and the Oni have become very insular and defensive within their walls. 20 years since the fall of fish The Emperor “His Minuteness†grew very ill. At this time he is believed to be on his death bed.
The left hand was present at the signing in Braknik and had been seen occasionally in and around the Southern Isles for many years. 18 years after the fall of Fish he told the Hub of Braknik that he was on the trail of a “slippery chameleon†and his hunting was going well. Shortly after that announcement he disappeared and hasn’t been seen since.
Grimsoeoth numbers have grown over the years and seem to be expanding outward once more. On the inner sea new Ships have been spotted. Black Ships with flags of a Demon Skull amidst a red field. Dagdeoth has arrived in the inner sea.
