Problem Some of us have come up with an idea to hopefully deal with all the little groups within the Sorikonian population and at least start some kind of dialogue, because right now what we have is a lack of communication and understanding and it's preventing us from getting anywhere. So we need to sit down and have a conversation with the people that we are trying to deal with and see if we can at least get everyone to a point where we understand the other points of view.
Plan In theory, the way this is going to work will be as follows: We will send out invitations to the other groups (militia, maimed, sorikonians who have kept their vows, sorikonians who haven't but aren't part of any other aforementioned party, anyone else we need to include?) There will be a discussion table at which each involved group (including the party) will have three representatives. The other groups can choose their representatives however they like, we think the party should do it by voting unless anyone can think of a better method. Then the representatives for all groups will sit around a table and talk and anybody else is free to watch, but not say anything. We want a discussion, not a war zone. The martial masters will not be involved.
Intent Hopefully, if all goes well, by the end of the meeting we will all understand the points of everyone else and maybe some agreement will have been reached.

More on Choosing Representatives Assuming you agree with this plan in the first place (by all means say if you don't and say the flaws are), we WILL have to choose people to represent the party. I figure the process of doing that looks something like this (once again, say if it's flawed):
Nominate people in this thread, preferably specifying character and player. Once people have been nominated, I will open up a poll with all the nominated characters in which people can vote for as many characters as they like. The night prior to next club league whichever three have the most votes will be representatives. This would save us time on the actual day of club league and be more likely to assure that people are calm when they cast their votes.
We would of course talk to people out of game to make sure they are aware that such things are going on over the forum so they can be sure to show up and participate.
REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE VOTING FOR A CHARACTER, NOT A PLAYER.

One good team would be Kioriel (Kim), Dedoric (Nick), and Attano (Quinn). They are all diplomatic, intelligent, good debaters, experienced, and can think quickly. They know how to work together well and they can find common ground. They can stay level-headed in most situations and they are all reasonable people. As long as the party is present, Dedoric will have many, many levels in diplomat. Kioriel is naturally persuasive and she can claim to being a neutral party who doesn't have any ulterior motives (she is also hosting the meeting). Attano is just good in general at making and understanding different points. They can represent us and can keep the situation under control.
(These are just suggestions, feel free to make others.)

Something I find important – at least one member of the team should be human and possibly local. This will enable us to connect to some of the organizations better – having somebody who is more clearly connected to their interests will likely foster less distrust on their part, and make things a little easier for us. In terms of debating skills, I am aware that both Leyla (Clara) and Torald (moi) are skilled at that, so I am nominating both, regardless of my above advice about having at least one human. Thank you.

Another important thing - should we ask orcs and ogres and such to send representatives? A large part of the conflict stems from lack of communication between them and the humanoid Sorikonians, I believe.

NOTE. People may present nominees in teams, but in the end you will be voting for members of the final team individually. Just because two or three people are presented together does not mean they need to be elected all-or-nothing.
Miranda. I think right now that would only make things harder. If this goes well, we can do further meetings including them, but right now it seems like that would only add to the chaos. So YES the urukai and orcs should be included in discussion at some point, but now is not necessarily the time for it.

OK guys. You know what? This isn't going to work over the forum, not enough people use it with any regularity, things will not work fairly. If you cannot do character league, continue doing stuff over the forum. Otherwise this thing will mostly get resolved at lunch at character league next weekend because that way we will have more than a few people and a way of doing legitimate discussion in person, because what's the point of having democracy without discussion and if discussion is done in person it's likely to go over a lot better. So. Hopefully we can get this done before it becomes a timesink on the day of Club league. Yeah. I apologize for all the poking at stuff, we are kind of new to trying to run stuff like this, so it will be bumpy and hopefully we will get it sorted out.

If anyone will not be there at character league, send me a PM with your opinion or anything you would like to be brought up. I will try to bring these up at the meeting. Will the voting still take place here?

I think it will take place either at character league or just before the start of Club, maybe a combination thereof. After stuff is discussed at character I will post a final list of nominees and if you were not present at character league you can vote here or just before Club starts.
Also I vote we never do this again unless it is necessary because I hate running it.

At this point I am going to throw my opinion in with the team of Kioriel, Attano, and Itami. Due to this revised opinion, I am also going to rescind my nomination of Leila to help ensure that this outcome occurs.

Update to the Meeting Situation
4/5 of the invited groups intended the meeting; only the Maimed Cult did not attend, for reasons that became clear later in the day. We had a civil conversation about what everybody's issues were and about pacifism vows and about how best to protect Sorikonia given the various problems at hand.
In the end, the following agreement was reached:
*The militia will not retake their vows at the present time. *We will sponsor guildmaster knights to train the militia in pacifist-style defense skills - snare, knockback, martial arts, etc. *The militia will help guard people using these skills, as they have been. We will also do our part and help guard. *If it can be proven that these skills are good enough that they can use them to effectively defend Sorikonia as pacifists, they will re-take their pacifism vows and continue protecting the larger part of the population.
We have two guildmaster knights for sure - one Ray and one (Scott?). If there are any other guildmaster knights who would be willing to help train the militia, that would be awesome. Let us know if you want to so we can make sure you're on the list!
---
Other notes - it was brought up during the meeting that undead are a major problem for Sorikonia, and that pacifists can't deal with undead well. That means that, in order for the militia to function well as pacifists, we can't be letting them deal with undead - which means that *we* have to get to the undead, and get to it first/thoroughly. Otherwise this whole agreement may very well fall apart.
It was also brought up afterwards that if there were some way to get everyday citizens something like a single silver grieve to block mana-drains with, that would help immensely. An idea was proposed that we could hold basically some kind of poetry contest/Minomoto contest as a fundraiser and use the money from that to buy silver grieves for people. Masumoto (Scott) is a noble and also willing to help fund the giving-people-silver-grieves thing. Anybody have any opinions on this, or better solutions for it?

I don't really think a silver grieve would do anything more than be a security blanket, as something that has instant mana-drain doesn't give a damn about commoners.

Perhaps it is a security blanket, but it will make them feel safer. That's the important part of it. It will lessen their fears of undead attack, making it easier to convince them to retake their vows later. And the point about greater undead not caring about commoners is untrue – they want to undermine Sorikonia's culture of pacifism, and attacking civilians is one way of doing so, for obvious reasons.
