In response to the whole White Bone Demon thing: First off, it is Monkey not the Monkey. Monkey was the name of one of the disciples of the famous Chinese buddhist monk Xuanzang. In the story Xuanzang goes looking for the Buddhist scriptures along with his three disciples, monkey, Pigsy, and Sandy. They eventualy reach the home of the White Bone Demon (although they are not aware of it) and Monkey scouts ahead for any danger. The White Bone Demon (WBD) tries to capture Xuanzang three times in different guises but each time is defeated by Monkey. After the third time Xuanzang sends monkey away in discust at the crimes he supposedly commited (the murder of a young woman, her mother, and her father, the WBD's disguises) and then continue on their journey. They eventualy reach a temple with a engraved tablet that reads 'The Temple of the Heavenly King" they enter and pray before the image of Buddha, but the image turns into the WBD and captures Xuanzang and Sandy. Pigsy escapes and travels to Monkey's home, the Flower and Fruit Mountain, and begs him to rescue their master. He refuses to Pigsy's face, but as soon as Pigsy leaves he runs of to help. On his way he encounters the Golden Toad Fairy (yes, I know it's a strange name) and kills her, taking on her form in order to get close to WBD. He does so and slays her (the WBD is always portrayed as a she), freeing Xuanzang and allowing them to continue on their journey. Okay, just a few notes now. monkey, as he is refered to in this story, is short for "The Monkey King" a recuring figure in Cinese Mythos. The story of the White Bone Demon is told in the classic Chinese Novel "Journey to the West", and if you want to learn more just do a quick internet search for it. Make sure you get a summary of the scene from the book though, not the crappy movie that was made about it. I have a few good sources below. In addition Xuanzang was an actual Buddhist monk who lived from 602-664 A.D. cla.calpoly.edu/~bmori/syll/Hum310china/WhiteBoneDemon.htmlen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xuanzangchineseposters.net/posters/e13-327.phpen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journey_to_the_WestAh, the wonders inane reaserch can do when you actually need it...

Okay, we need a plan. 1. Anyone hit with the contaminate strike (skull warriors) should not go. We don't need anymore shades. 2. Do we know if this is going to be a physical sinking? If so then the amount of water displaced will be quite great. (something to think about in evacuation.) 3. This doesn't really belong here, but Are we going to do anything about the captured heroes. (not Rhetorical, I am actually wondering.) 4. Who is going to go, and who is going to stay, what magic items need to be distributed to each group? 5. Can we still attempt to get the stone or are we going to be too busy?

Okay, we need a plan. 1. Anyone hit with the contaminate strike (skull warriors) should not go. We don't need anymore shades. I would agree with this statement. That contamination would need to be healed before I could justify sending anyone like that down there. Fortunately, there's probably a way to do this. We just need to find it. Let's go get some high level identify. 2. Do we know if this is going to be a physical sinking? If so then the amount of water displaced will be quite great. (something to think about in evacuation.) I. I do not think so. Or. If it is. The water won't be anyone's biggest issue. Just. Because. If it is there will be a chunk of the map ceasing to exist. So. 3. This doesn't really belong here, but Are we going to do anything about the captured heroes. (not Rhetorical, I am actually wondering.) We're going to walk through the Shadowlands. We're going to come out the other side. And then we're going to kill Wall and in so doing all his 'kwaiths. That's what we're doing about the captured heroes. Or if you think you can sneak them outta the Dark City before we go, I really want to hear your plan. (I am being absolutely serious. I feel bad about the fact that my plan would leave them there for a couple months. I just don't know what to do about it.) 4. Who is going to go, and who is going to stay, what magic items need to be distributed to each group? I think. My recommendation would be that anyone relying on the gods to stay alive should probably get out. If you're contaminated you should be getting out or working on getting yourself cured. Like, seriously. Let's make curing contamination a priority. Amara's getting out because she has to take care of a kid, but that's kind of a special situation. 5. Can we still attempt to get the stone or are we going to be too busy? If we're going to survive this, we'll NEED the stone. I don't know exactly what it is, but I have a feeling that it will both help bring us down into the shadowlands and help keep us... ourselves once we get down there. There's a reason it showed up now, I guarantee it. There are no coincidences.

Time shouldn't be an issue yet as we still have an event before the solstice camp out. However, we should still think about what we need to accomplish before the camp out and prioritize that list.
So far what I have is: Get gem Make evacuation plane And Find out more about shades and the infection
If anyone has anything else to add please say so.

If you want to go, then go ahead and take a powerful character, but only if you are willing to lose them, and ONLY if they are at least semi-intelligent. (So, no one who's going to snatch up any items we come across, or who is in this for their own gain, or is going to disobey the party and get us all killed.) And no, we're not going to be "blowing some shit up" as such. We have to approach this carefully, and we can't rely simply on physical power, or brute force. So no, we're not "blowing some shit up".

It will be more than one mission, I assure you, as we will probably be in there for at least a month. I suspect the leaders will make themselves known early on by being the calm, rational individuals with the presence of mind, the knowledge, and the people skills to keep everyone together. If you would like to be one of these people, be my guest.

Just some stuff to prepare for:
1) Undead. Lots and lots of undead, of all kinds 2) Demons and similar outsiders, we don't know what they can do in their home plain. Especialy watch out for the Three demons from last year. 3) Those odd splitting goblin things. remember how dangerous those where? 4) a variety of other possible nasties to extensive to list right now.

One issue. If you banish demons to other planes, someone else has to deal with them. The other planes are still populated with people, even if they don't look or act like us, and forcing them to deal with demons just cos we don't want to seems a bit mean. (This comes back to the whole "don't become the evil things" theme.) That isn't to say that trying to lock away demons isn't a good idea, but if you could somehow lock them down inside their own plane that'd probably be better for the inhabitants of the multiverse.

(I don't think ES is the solution to every thing though it could be useful, so don't spent too much brain power thinking about it). Anyway Can anyone see any Elder sorcery of Necromancy that would be good? If you can find one, tell me so that Attano can learn it. Then he can teach it to other Necromancers or collaborate with them to make one really powerful spell. I am looking on the chart and most of the words are evil, so I'm stuck. One I did find was "Shade" that could be used for something...
