And here we are. I'm rather terrible at chronicling – much better at writing stories entirely of my own creation – but on occasion I will put something up here.

Torald Branhjart
Double walkers Double bound Walk in shambles Out of the ground Earth falls in And chasms yawn They skitter in With each new dawn The master’s house is falling down And hope renews us as a spark And each door watched held back the dark Stormclouds clap and bar the way Soldiers will march from land to land And battles waged by honor’s lies But who will watch the waiting dark If no one looks for hungry eyes Soon the tide will draw you in And pull you out to sea Trust in the light of darkness For the Dark One lives in me!
"Will you play?" A silence. "Aye." "What is the answer to your riddle?" A silence. "The Shadowlands." Wrong. "Is there more?" A silence. "Sorikonia." Wrong. "Is there more?" A long silence. "Morganti. The end. The end of the world." Wrong. "I will be leaving... when you have the question." .................................................................answer." ...............................................................question." .................................................................answer." ...............................................................question answer?

And now, my first return to actual chronicling of things in a very long time. Enjoy, and don't take anything personally. It's my character speaking. Túrastar OakthorneEvaluation of Axiems and my Fellow ColleaguesThe north is frigid, and so too are the hearts of many who dwell here. I have been north before, but never so far as Axiems. I have not yet decided what my opinion on it is. It has collaborated with Dagdeoth before, after all. It may be that desperate times called for desperate measures, but I cannot say that it pleases me in any way. The members of the local nobility that we have met with thus far (That being the Sentris family – Lesil and her sons Abil and Broncis) have been agreeable enough, though I doubt that they would remain so pleasant if the accursed lotus of Dagdeoth acquired Axiems once more. As for the city at large: Some of the city’s residents have shown kindness to me, but I shall not lie. The vast majority of them were suspicious and gazed at my face in horror as so many have. I cannot say that it does not aggravate me, but I suffer such slights easier than I once did. The party is an interesting assemblage of folk of many paths and tendencies. A few of them are sufferable, but for the most part, they seem to be odious, miserly, homicidal, conceited, vindictive, and bigoted. That being said, I feel that most of them have the capacity to improve, and may ultimately become better people. Among the members of our party are a few I have met before: Talia, who remains as implacable as ever; Isanna, who has, unpleasantly, taken to not talking to me and evading the sight of my face; and Stariln, nervous and quiet. Beyond them, there are a few other I remember: Ygsmir, who despises elves and has thus earned my own disdain; Avalous, who bears the name of “Shadowborn”, which suggests one who desires to appear more menacing than he truly is; an additional fellow whose name I did not chance to learn, but who apparently took delight in hauling off wounded orcs for reasons he refused to divulge; and Dumali, a kind woman who unfortunately cannot use her voice, but is still much more agreeable than most other members of our party. Penned 26th of Firstmoon, 15,996 - Concerning Events on the 5th of Firstmoon, 15,996Our first mission concerned eliminating small groups of orcs from Dagdeoth who were wandering into Svodlun territory. We encountered a band of orcs fairly quickly and proceeded to trounce them, of course, but certain individuals decided that it would suit us better to bandage the things up and attempt to direct them on a path back to Dagdeoth. Naturally, the orcs decided that it would suit them better to stab those who attempted to heal them. Despite my best attempts to keep the things from wreaking further havoc, I eventually gave up on such efforts. After some time, said individuals managed to confuse the orcs enough that they began to travel in the direction that they were being herded. As far as I am concerned, it amounted to far too much effort for too unreliable a result. The orcs would be just as likely to amble back into Svodlun as Dagdeoth. Especially when dealing with such nations as Dagdeoth, it is best to rout them every time they appear until they learn to stay far away. Evil does not heed the words of purer hearts for long – especially that which is simpler-minded. I am biased, it is true, for Dagdeoth gave me the scars I wear upon my face, but in the end, I try to look past that. After several more groups of Dagdeoth’s forces were dealt with in a similarly weak fashion, we returned to the city to report of our relative success at the mission. It was then decided that we were to go and deal with some hill giants which were causing problems with the caribou that are raised on local ranches. Lady Sentris was quite peeved about the caribou being stolen and eaten (understandable, given that they are the main livestock of the area). I elected to join the party on their excursion to the caribou – an endeavor which might have succeeded, had certain fools not decided to feed the caribou to the giants. I do not know what their intentions were, as I was lying on the ground with a boulder on top of me for the majority of our time there, but I can say with certainty that they were misguided and foolish. It is fortunate that I look at adventuring as a learning experience, and not as a permanent profession, elsewise I would take up another occupation this instant. After returning from the debacle with the caribou, a rather clueless member of the party attempted to report to Lady Sentris on a certain party member who had apparently been behind the attempts to negotiate with the giants. She gave him a very stern warning against backstabbing and betrayal of allies (complete with brandished morganti), and then sent us off to meet with her son Abel. Abel is a renowned crafter of magic items, and a rather eccentric fellow. He greeted us very amiably, and even said he was sorry and embraced me when he saw my face… I was unsure whether to be gratified or offended, so I let it be. He wished for us to aid him in crafting a weapon for use against skeletons. To make the item, he wanted the sap of an ent that had been wounded by a skeleton, as well as the bones of a skeleton that had been crushed by an ent. We agreed to retrieve these for him, and headed out. After we entered the Dagmenth Forest, from which we were to retrieve these ingredients, the party was set upon by common beasts. As the party fled, Ygsmir and I held off the beasts from the wounded so that they could be carried out by the rest of the party. Unsurprisingly, however, our companions moved on without a backwards glance at us, and by the time we were finished with the beasts, we had lost them. We wandered for a few minutes, calling for them, before settling ourselves in a small clearing and giving up. I then had the good fortune to spend two hours in the presence of an arrogant individual who is bigoted towards my race, and also despises me for my scars. I am unsure how I was able to withhold my hands from his throat. Fortunately, the party eventually returned, traveling back to Axiems along the same route. We rejoined them, and I learned to my relief that they had successfully gathered the components Abel had requested. We returned to the city, and Abel promptly rewarded the party with two fairly simple magic items. Shortly thereafter, another group was dispatched to the south to aid Broncis Sentris in defending Amen Town against invaders from Dagdeoth. Normally I would be keen to become engaged in such fights, but I needed a break and did not feel that the mission was likely to accomplish anything significant. I was correct, as it seems that the net gain of ground against the foe was next to nothing. Once they had returned, another vote was held on which mission we ought to embark upon next. A majority voted to investigate the frequent kidnapping of villagers by ogres from the Cugmenth Forest, and I elected to travel with them. In the course of our journey, we had the unlucky chance to meet a severely bigoted group of villagers. One in particular seemed to think that I was not worthy of being called a person, and instead considered me a “thing”, all on account of my scarring. I was able to maintain my composure, and prove myself more a person than he, by simply telling him he was wrong and proceeding on my way. How I would have loved to see him kidnapped by one of the ogres, that he might have had to beg my pardon of him when I came to rescue him later. Regardless, we continued onwards, and soon encountered the ogres. I was horrified to discover that they were not devouring the villagers, but attempting to sacrifice them to a deity of destruction! The party and I immediately began combatting the ogres. Human sacrifice is a truly despicable thing, and I was determined to save the villagers from that fate. Unfortunately, there was such a great volume of ogres that we gradually began to lose ground. Over time, several members of our party were captured by the ogres to be sacrificed on their altar, and those who remained (including myself) chose to perform an expeditious retreat. It angered me to have to abandon our allies to such a fate, but it was clear that we would also suffer such a fate if we did not flee. We returned in failure. Surprisingly, we were hardly admonished, as a rather bizarre individual immediately committed the party to another mission; this mission involved clearing a local mine of goblins. As I had nothing better to do, I embarked on the mission with all the others who chose to do so as well. We arrived at the mines shortly, and began mowing through the goblins at a brisk pace. Eventually, the number of goblins began to thin, and we were on the verge of departing, when a horde of rather ferocious orcs (Turuks, I believe) burst out of the darkness and ran screaming at us. Predictably, the remainder of the party bolted for the exit, and with no backup, I had no choice but to follow if I did not wish to be skewered on a rusty sword. It was a fortuitous choice either way, as a cave troll shortly appeared and started hurling boulders at us. Local militia began showing up outside the mines as the party started to flee. I made the risky decision of staying behind to help defend against the orcs that were emerging. Unfortunately, when the troll eventually burst out of the tunnels, I ended up on the receiving end of a boulder. The immense force behind the rock evidently killed me, so I remember nothing more. In the course of being resurrected, I was fortunate enough to avoid damage to my mind or soul, and came through unscathed. I returned to the inn which had become our base of operations, and retired to bed without another thought. I found the day fulfilling enough, but my companions not as much. We shall see what our further adventures bring. ~ Túrastar Oakthorne 26th Firstmoon, 15,996

So if anyone could offer some sort of constructive criticism on my last chronicle, I'd appreciate that. ^_^ I want to try and keep doing these and any sort of aid in improving my writing of them is helpful.

Some of us do not how to make our keyboards do the funny accent thing, so unless we are taught you can expect no change in this behavior. Apologies regardless. If you'd like to teach us that'd be awesome.

Another way on most recent macs is to just hold down the key for the letter you want to accent and either click on the accent you want or press the corresponding number. If you're on a PC, you can hold down alt and type in the corresponding Alt Key Code. For example, it would be "Alt + 0250" for "ú." A list of Alt Key Codes is available here.
