Today will be remembered in Roekron history. Sorikonia came very close to being taken over by the combined fores of the Shadowlands and the Dark City, and it the end, the masters made a choice in the battle to end the war their way rather than risk a greater danger.
Leading up to the major war today, it was discovered that Dark City troops were secretly entering the Shadowlands in mass numbers north of Icash in the swamps. These Dark City troops used the Shadowlands as a means to bypass detection and the blockades around Sorikonia and mount a massive attack. On All-Hallows-Eve when the veil between world becomes thin, the Elder Vampire Wall succeeded in summoning the Legendary Di-Katan Li Tesashi using an "Undead Hunter" type ritual duel to the death. He won the duel, defeating the sword, but died shortly after. The sources suggested that he was weekend and disoriented by this death and though he was now in possession of the Legendary Weapon and meant to use it against Sorikonia and likely all of Roekron.
The Sorikonia masters had been closing many Shadowlands gates across their land by using their own Legendary swords to heal instead of hurt, and found they could mend the tears that caused the shadowlands portals to remain open, but this required then to perform a ritual at the site of each gate. The Dark City and Shadowlands troops, realizing their plan, fortified the remaining two major gates to keep the masters from healing them. Troops from all across Roekron had been arriving over the past month to assist in defending the island what the only two remaining active clans, Thunder and Lake, tried to heal the portals.
Today, the heroes of Sorikonia mounted a final attempt to resolve the situation with the Shadowlands and used the seven keys they had recovered from the Skull in the Tomb of the Clanless Sensai and managed to sneak in to the Shadowlands Stronghold, unlock the door to the prison that held thousands of life spirits and free them from their torture. This brought the situation to a head, and the Heroes then discovered that the Masters had a plan to end the war, but that it would come at great cost. They could not reveal the plan for fear the enemy would hear of it and take measures to counter it. The Heroes were forced to choose between risking everything in a assault to heal the remain two gates, or to end things then and there but at great personal cost. They opted to press the advantage and attack. The battle, with Elves from Ein Ion, Dwarves from Stonehammer, Amir Rangers, Pinicle Mages, Estorock Military, The Iron Disciples, and the Heroes of Sorikonia battling the combined forces of the Dark City and the Shadowlands was awesome to behold. The first portal was closed successfully, but on the attempt for the second, things went very badly, heroes began to fall to Morganti at an alarming rate, and all the allied troops began to take heavy losses as the Dark City Troops gained ground. It was clear the masters had little change of survival and so them made a choice before it was too late to make it.
Turning to one another in a ceremonial duel like ritual, Chen Borison and Twi Ripentot bowed to each other, turned their backs on each other, and then held their legendary weapons aloft and were heard to cry out in Elder Sorcery "Ancestor spirits we release you from this world. Come Chen/Twi" Their weapons dissolved as two spirit Dragons were seen to appear/arrive before the masters. These Golden Like dragons, one reflective and still, the other coursing with Lightning and with a thunderous roar, breathed in the energy of each of the legendary weapons and all the life spirits of Sorikonia were cast from this world, back to their plane of existence! All Passively Warded items simultaneously unforged across the known world! (as did most items made by Sorikonia Martial Masters at any time). The releasing of the spirits appear to "clog" the remaining Shadowlands portals with many spirits who chose to sacrifice themselves rather than return home in a last effort to protect the Sorikonias they cared so much for. The move by the Masters is believed to have been in response also to the Walls possession of Li Tesashi, which was also destroyed in this action, as well as all the Bone Swords and infamous Che'in Blade of Whispers. It is understood that the Masters had taken an oath to protect these beings of life long ago in prehistory, and being unable to do so, they were unwilling to see them overtaken by the powers of the Shadowlands and the Dark City as was already happening and chose to break their connection to them forever rather than continue to risk their misuse.
History will tell whether their choice was the wiser of the two. It is suggested by those studying the situation that had Sorikonia fallen to the Shadowlands, that all of these items would have become agents of the darker forces, a prospect that makes the choice to send these life beings home, more understandable perhaps. In any event, it is a day that will not soon be forgotten, an a year and a battle that has taken the lives of more characters than any to date. May they all live on in our memories.
[for game purposes- anything that reads "Passively Warded" should be considered destroyed at this point. See me if you are not sure if an item may still exist. The same is true of most Sorikonia items, again, see me for the few exceptions].
