I typed up the pages to the journal that pertains to the Shadowlands.
Pages One and Two:
The shadowgates are invisible when first encountered, but for a shimmering in the air and a slight uneasiness about the spirit, like something is ethereal in the area. We marked them with stones at first, but found this to be difficult to remember and so used cloth from our shirts. Our first few attempts to explore met with terrible ends, as two of my Heron brothers died after battling what appeared to be common Ogres. The wounds would not heal well and though I could wake them, they would not recover their strength. Spell usage was incredibly draining and I was only able to heal two of the four who had sustained wounds. Our chi was also compromised, though not completely, and had I been able to get out of combat we might have saved them. We were attacked again and by the time we returned to our fallen comrades they were dead. Had I known what would become of them, I would have dismembered them, as the lion clan taught us later, but at the time we were unaware of the effect of the infection. Within an hour or less they were on their feet again, coming to hunt us down- out own honorable brothers! It was indeed heartbreaking to kill them again. Most amazing is how Lion discovered the use of the jade to deal first with the wounds and
Note: "Shadowgates isn't capitalized on this page but it is in a later entry.

It was Tehnrai who first theorized that it could be used as a weapon, and attempted to stop one of the Oni that attacked us with a piece that was sharper than the many. The damage he inflicted was as if a blessed priest had healed the demon. The creatures ability to regenerate was thwarted and it fled, hopefully to die in the dank hole it emerged from. Many of the more fearsome Oni are virtually indestructible, a product of a skeletal structure that defies all attempts to break it. We discussed making weapons of the wondrous stone but it is not suited to the task and is fragile and poor for the heavy work of battle. A few clever members used the flakes to fashion arrow heads which worked very well for a tine. Pressing on in search of the Shugenja who summoned the gate, we did not have to go far. The trail of dark magic glows during the night and while it was not my wish to seek him during his time of power, we had little choice if we were to locate him quickly. Our noble Master was not accustomed to this sort of battle as their legends tell of the evil that links

Pages Five and Six:
within the soul and that only a balance of this inner turmoil will defeat the maker of the Shadowgate. The Lion and Heron and those of Dsesnor spoke of merely slaying the Shugenja which seemed to him utterly foul, but apparently it was successful and the power that worked to thwart us in closing the rifts began to fade. We could not truly close them however, as it seems the rifts themselves are their own battle to be won. The Masters said that the spirits of this land remains cut and refused to heal. I attributed this to the horrible infection of the land but he seemed far more troubled and said it must be cleansed with life and fire. I do not pretend to know the ways of the Sorikonians, and thus I did not press him further. I was indeed curious to see if the methods used to track the source of the Shadow-maker could be used at other dates or other lands. I hope that their will be no need and that this will be the last of the gates I will encounter, but I fear that I will bot be so fortunate. The weapon the Shigenja was using was a dark and sinister thing, filled with a soul destroying power. Why he chose to destroy it instead of turn it on us, I can only be grateful for but it fills me with a certain amount of dread. Perhaps he feared what we might do with it, but I sense a darker purpose
Note: The Master is described as "noble." However, this is only my best guess of the word as it was distorted in my picture.
