Story titled "Orcish Massacre Report" by Eleno Fiddlefern on the 4th day of the first moon, a small division of the heroes of axiems had been sent by lesil sentris to observe a group of orcs that were trying to cross through the protectorate, apparently to “laugh at them”. however, once on the road, the group revealed that their real intention was to persuade the orcs to not go into elvish lands, and try to play the role of humanitarian diplomat. when we arrived, it became apparent that none of the orcs spoke any common, or even knew that there was danger around them, so all we could do was try to heal and protect both sides. the orcs went into the forest and immediately an ambush sprung up around them. the elves were few in number, but were all at least guildmasters, and armed with magic items. the orcs still had them outnumbered at a little less than 5 to 1 however, and the ambush was short lived. many died. at least 20 orcs were killed and a majority of the elves with them. the orcs in our group that could speak to the elves were either killed or missing, so we were unable to help in any productive manner. we did try to dissuade the orcs from pushing on, but they kept on moving. elven forces moved to attack and the battle was on. the elves, with more sufficient numbers than the first skirmish, began to slaughter the orcs. even the leader of the entire protectorate, orixriel kerni came out to help with the massacre. he cast a mass earthbind spell to hold all the orcs in place while his troops moved through and killed them one by one. at one point, a werewolf ambushed the orcs from behind, killing several before darting off into the woods. at the end of the fight, none of the orcs remained from the 50 or so that had been in the group. one member of our group, who is an elf-urukai, was dead at the end of the fight. we asked the elves to regenerate him and we would leave, or we could take his body back to axiems. orixriel refused both options and instead, kidnapped him. we have not seen him since this. it is unknown whether the orcs were able to be summoned and if any of them pd’d, but one cannot help but wonder how things might have turned out if the elves had given them a warning.
(From Nartitath’s (Mud’s) Diary. Age 17) I woke up to the sound of the door chimes ringing. I sat up at the counter of the small, smelly apothecary and bumbled out the standard, “Hello welcome to Arnolds Apothecary how may I help you” while rubbing my eyes. I looked at the figure peering through the doorway and froze. It was a girl, and she was pretty. I swallowed and looked away while nonchalantly scratching my hair to hide my face. She smiled and opened her mouth to speak, then closed it again and scrunched her nose before evening her face. “Hey I know you” she said, and I looked back at her. “You do?” Immediately as I said it, I recognized her and felt like a total idiot. I did know her, she and I used to play in the woods when we were young. She was much poorer than me, being a tenant under the ruler of the town. My mother had forbidden me to play with her when I was around 7 though. “Yeah, you’re Naritath. You probably don’t remember, we used to play tag in the forest and look for mushrooms and stuff” She said, obviously trying not to make the conversation awkward by making me feel guilty. I smiled and said, “I remember now. You’re Lisa right?” She smiled and looked at me, and I was trapped inside her gaze like a bad gorgon hunter “Anyway, hah, um what can I get you?” I stammered out, being the expert flirter that I am. “My mom’s sick, the Mayor recommended something called a Starflower Tincture. Do you have anything like that” “Yeah, that should be doable. Arnold is out right now but I can get it to the Mayors house by tomorrow afternoon” I said, trying to be as encouraging as possible to avoid the look of disappointment on her face that would inevitably come. “Oh, thats ok” She said, putting on a reassuring smile to comfort me, which made me feel one thousand times worse. There was a long pause, followed by an awkward, “Well it was good to see you again, Mayor Tolork will be waiting. Bye” And she was gone I took a breath and sighed. I hadn’t even thought about Lisa since I was a kid. She seemed nice, there was something about her that was just calming and pleasant to be around. I shook my head and began re-doing inventory to keep myself from daydreaming about the girl who used to hunt for mushrooms with me when we were kids (OOG: This is my first time posting a Chronicle, please give any feedback or tips to me about how these work and if viewing the text is OK. Thank you for reading!)

I love to see character back story. It shows how the character has grown over the coarse of the season. I liked this little snipit of Naritath's life.

Mud It ended, and Somontile was gone. As the fire went out, Mia collapsed, and I could feel her spirit leaving her. It was the same feeling I had seeing those elves die in the forest years ago. I could see Avalous was trying to pull something to let her live. I knew what I could do. My god is Charon, the god of bringing souls to their afterlife. I thought maybe, I could be granted permission to carry Mia’s soul until her gate re-opened, then she would pass on to her afterlife. I reached out to my god, asking to carry her, and we were gone. I found myself on a river, gray water moving and swirling beneath my boat. I held an oar, and behind me were the souls of Avalous and Mia. I began to push our boat through the river, but the spirits of those who had fallen off the boat before attacked us, trying to drag the souls down into the water, testing us. I was able to fend them off and make it to the other side. Normally, this is the point where they met their after life, but they were both elves. There was nothing. There was darkness and nothingness waiting for them, and I knew if I left them here they would become nothing too. I began to turn back (I knew it was against the rules to bring them back now, though). The spirits in the waters got angrier, and we had to go back to the shores where the nothing was. Mia told me to leave and take Avalous, but Avalous wouldn’t go. He said he was going to be stubborn and stay with her, even as she was trying to drag him back onto the boat. I told him he still had life left, he didn’t have to die, but I could tell, he was going to do the romantic thing. I sailed back alone. My mind snapped back to Roekron, and I saw Avalous and Mia, both dead beneath me. The only thought in my head was that my job was done, and hopefully they could find their afterlife. Avalous’ eyes snapped open though, disturbing my train of thought. He stood up, and left. I followed him, told him to take a break, that he needed to recover his sanity. I think that helped. He had wanted to arrest Ellion and Noodles and all of them. We talked for a bit, then he said I had helped him and he left. I’m gonna try and keep tabs on him, make sure he’s ok. It’s not like Mia was the best person, hell she probably would’ve made another wish if the Efreet hadn’t cast those spells on her to try and sway her. But he loved her, and she’s dead. I don’t pretend to know a lot about the intricacies of the world politics, or major issues and things, but I think Ellion did a good thing, and Mia made a good sacrifice. She was a hero. I’ll probably start being a bit more active in the guild, seeing as Av is on leave. This whole ordeal has got me thinking about what I’m gonna do with the rest of my life when I retire, I don’t want to be a working murderer until I die. Maybe I’ll try dating again, in a better city than this. I could just keep on killing people, but I still think that taking life changes you, even the millionth time. I’ve rambled enough. The days are getting longer, we’re not getting any stronger.

A Poem about the Fae By Tadhg Mac Glaisne (1st of Fifthmonth) (following any given rule of poetry, at any random time) At the end of a long, and lumbering day, as I reclined on a roll made of hay, flights of fancy flew upon my mundane mind. Whirling about in my head, I saw soaring songbirds, buzzing bees, skulking stallions, roaming rodents, and all a manner of very strange things. After some time, the vortex vanished, and left behind was little bee. The tiny thing was trapped by three spindling swindling s spiders. I scared the spiders, and they ran to the roof, at set the bee on my sleeve button. It worked off the webs and gave a short buzz, to show it was okay. It found itself a flower, and forgot about me, then off it buzzed away.

Liedar Valiene - October 3rd
We began the day with a short meeting with Gwethlir Loglin. It was the birthday of one of our party members, a man apparently cursed by Ungoliant with spidery features, and we allowed him to choose what mission to go on with no discussion. At first I thought this was unusual as the laws of Einion dictate that we must reach consensus for our missions. I would, by the end of the day, be incredibly envious of the more alacritous approach that we had in the morning. After leaving on our quest, we first encountered a group of elven law enforcement who were fighting with some ogres over animals that were killed in the forest. The ogres were denying it, but they seemed guilty to me. I didn’t wish to see the ogres killed, because they weren’t acting evil. In the end, some guards from Spireguard came to take them away for further processing. I do not know what became of them. We ran into a small group of zombies that were killed and spirits set free, and we pressed forward. The larger horde overpowered us, however, and in the fight I was killed and raised as a zombie myself. Thank the Valar that I wasn’t wielding any weapons at the time, and thus did not break my vow of pacifism, even while in the grips of undeath. We were rescued not long after, and I was resurrected. We returned to town and received a reward for setting free the spirits of the zombies, which I gave to another adventurer in the group, an elven woman. Our next quest was to tend a shrine at Blessi, and I decided to go because I intend to be a priest. We encountered a group of humans trying to reach town, who were asking for directions. I couldn’t effectively communicate with them, so I left it to my group and continued on ahead. I regretted doing so, as apparently there was a were-creature among the humans we encountered. We arrived at the shrine, and saw many priests dancing around it. I went to the shrine and began meditating, joined by another short wood elf. As the rest of the party began laying down their offerings, I overhead a priest advertising a poetry festival. I figured I would enter, as it would allow me to communicate some of my thoughts that I cannot otherwise, as a result of my vows. I wrote and submitted this poem:
I dreamt I saw a distant land And bright winds danced through the air You and I lay on the sand In my dreams of a long lost land
In the sky I dreamt I saw You and I, and eternal pair And we were bound by no man's law In the sky I dreamt I saw
This distant land I dream no more For you have left to join the earth And you, my love has bound me for The distant land, I’ll see once more
It was imperfect, the last stanza breaking the rules I had set for the first two, and I would edit and adapt it, if I had not already sacrificed it to Vana. As I could not speak, I asked the person ahead of me in line to recite mine for me, a dwarf with dark blue hair. He agreed, after reading out his own poem, but stumbled in some places due to his unfamiliarity with the poem. The judges cast their votes, and the result was a tie between the dwarf and myself. They asked me if I would like to recite the poem myself, and I did, breaking my vow of silence. The judges were still tied, with the dwarf winning on the criterion of theme, and myself winning in construction. His poem was beautiful. I went to pray at the altar, sacrifice my poem, and retake my vows immediately after the decision. As punishment for breaking my vow, Vana took all of my clothing and gear. I was embarrassed to be exposed in the presence of a shrine, but it was ultimately a small cost to pay for the breaking of the vow. I paid the consequences of my actions happily. The priest saved me from my embarrassment by offering me his own robe, which I thanked him for. The dwarf and I both received our rewards for the contest, and went on our way. On the way back to town, we found a curious small blob of ooze, which was quickly claimed by a small orkchild as his pet. I do not know why the orkchildren are allowed to use weapons. Later, Tracy Uliania verified that the ooze was not dangerous or illegal, so it continued to adventure with us. Next, we went to a “time-dungeon” that Tracy Uliania wanted investigated, due to time magic being illegal. We first encountered a group of ogres that had bite, probably the spawn of the Ghoul’s Feast dungeon. They also looked charmed, which is worrying. Inside the time-dungeon itself, we had to fight past Brittlemen. They had adrenaline, and fought until death. The adventurers started to burn their bodies to prevent them from animating, but I did not allow this. I will not condone mutilation of the dead, and I will not allow the circumstance of the age to erode away at my principles. Past the groups of Brittlemen, we came to a room with three golems, and zombies began to attack us from behind. I noticed something off about the room, like I had been there before. Perhaps I am fated to have a future with the room, or there was some time manipulation happening. I went to work protecting the other adventurers from the zombies while the group tried to figure out how to fight the golems, but I was dropped by zombies. When I was healed, the zombies were all dropped, and the golems were fighting the group. I allowed a fighter in the group borrow my magic sword to defeat one of the golems. I would normally be opposed to endorsing this violence, but golems seemed like a reasonable time to allow it. They were fighting us as a test, and would not take any permanent damage as a result of the fight. Even so, I did not attack them myself. The golems were defeated, and an area of effect went off, with those inside of it sent forward into the future, through time and space. Apparently they looked ahead and foresaw a riot breaking out in the city. I was not planning on writing about this, to avoid generating gossip, but apparently the riot happened while I was lost in the woods. Thankfully, some arborists from Blessi stopped some buildings from collapsing. Perhaps this was because the group that time-traveled told Tracy Uliania to take steps to mitigate this. I traveled with a group to visit a priestess of Niana in the Wildwood. We were separated from other group members and dropped by Wildwood imps. The cause was mostly just disorganization and underestimating the forest. It was unecessary and frustrated me. After waking up, we did manage to meet up with the rest of the group, just in the nick of time as it would seem, for they were unconcious and being killed by Reedmen, strange, tall beings that had Knockback. In the next encounter, we met the priestess. She was being guarded by thistledogs, which snare, disarm, and hack anything that touches them. She informed us of two key points: the Mienenlore Elves are tracking a large threat, and there is some type of insurrection on part of the Stickmen. We did not learn whether or not these two events are connected, or how. We were also attacked by Stickmen, and defeated them. It also became apparent that whenever the priestess sees one of her party drop, she also drops. Given her status as a Druid, a Nature Mage, and a priestess of Niana, this is likely something to do with the Empathic side of Nature Magic. We defeated the Stickmen, and pushed on to fight the larger group, but it was clear we were going to be defeated soon after the fight began. I fled into the woods, and eventually wandered out. Three days had passed outside. I noticed a few other noteworthy things about this adventuring group. For one, there are lots of non-elves in our group, which is helpful in many ways. Diversity can be very empowering. I am, however concerned about the preservation of Elven culture. There were some party members who seem to disregard our culture in favor of their own. I also noticed that we spent a long time debating what mission to go on, and we should work on compromising and reaching a consensus with more efficiency than we have been. On multiple occasions, we would go back and forth between two missions, and if we had not, we may have actually had time to make progress on both missions. I also proposed my legal plan to Gwethlir, and he said he would speak about it to the council. The plan would essentially be a diplomatic agreement with Andionion. I would be trained by their Pacifists, and in return, they would send one apprentice to Gwethlir for Einion special training. If the council does approve it, then I would have to get Anionion government to approve it. I hope this happens as quickly as possible, although I know that my people take their time considering all the ramifications of their actions before they make them, which is a good thing. We also did not fight any dark heroes today. I believe this was the correct choice, as we are still a low level group. This does mean, however, that we will have to deal with them later. I also believe that these uprisings, and the glowing orbs that drain mana, seem to indicate something being wrong with the Wildwood, which bears more investigating. Maybe the Mienenlore Elves can provide more explanation. I’ll try to seek them out next month. On a more global note, the country of Einion seems well positioned for the time being. For many years, we have been crushed between two opposing governments trying to destroy us. With the reformation of Geb, and the overhaul happening in Temnor, Einion is in a safer position than ever in my lifetime. I just hope that dreams of expansion do not reach the minds of the council. The Valar’s improved influence may also be countered by a loss of power for the Fae. Elves are linked to the Fae, and a loss for them is a loss for the whole world. Restoring them should be prioritized. As the night continues, our torch is crackling still, closer to its demise. Dimmer, and dimmer, and dimmer. We must find light, or learn to see in the dark. We cannot allow the dark inside of us.
**EDIT: I apologize for so, so many typos. I wrote this late Sunday night so I could still remember everything and my brain sort of turned off.
