32 years have passed.
Svodlun Reunited Things came to a bloody and violent (though long-anticipated) head in Svodlun as the forces of Queen Thresa Svod, led by the infamous Prince Neville Svod, assaulted the splinter province of Stonehammer after executing Shanetill Stonehammer, daughter of Lord Eric Stonehammer, and Melimo Glimmereye. Retribution from the Free Republics was swift, with Estorock and Hostor sending considerable aid to the Stonehammers in defending themselves from the attack. White Forks Town fell quickly to a brutal onslaught of Frostfang Veterans, and soon, the siege of Gramion Hold began. Having learned its lesson from the multiple times it was sacked in recent history, the Hold was able to successfully fend off the invaders. It is agreed upon by all reputable historians, however, that this could not have happened without the immense tactical knowledge and forbearance of Melimo’s Deer, whose grief for his master’s demise only made him stronger. Under his guidance, the Free Republics issued a rapid and devastating counterattack, recapturing White Forks and driving the armies of Svodlun into a hasty retreat. Before long, both armies were facing each other outside the gates of Krodigros. The fighting was vicious, both sides killing enemies as they faced them, and alarming amounts of morganti weapons were deployed by the Svods. Eventually, things came to a head as Melimo’s Deer faced Neville Svod in single combat, ultimately defeating him and sending his burned remains back to Queen Thresa. The Queen immediately abdicated the throne out of an unquenchable fear for her life, and Melimo’s Deer ascended to the throne, reuniting Svodlun and ushering in a new golden age of peace for the north.
Triumph over Dagdeoth Illionass forces on the plateau had been making steady gains on Dagdeoth all year, gradually pushing them north, when disaster struck. An elite strike team of several greater demons and a multitude of Knights of the Dagdemar was teleported by elder sorcery into the center of Johannesburg, and proceeded to lay waste to much of the town, destroying the castle and slaying Lord Yohan Enbran, as well as several notable heroes. One of the demons successfully manipulated the waypoint system in the city to bring Dagdeoth troops into the town, swiftly occupying it from the inside. Thousands of soldiers fighting on the Plateau were immediately called back to reclaim the city, but Dagdeoth had executed their plan well, and things looked dire. Dagdean forces within the city were poised to destroy the defenders, and all hope seemed lost, when unexpected aid arrived from Svodlun. Melimo’s Deer led a great host of 5000 dwarves to the gates of Johannesburg, and personally destroyed several Knights of the Dagdemar in a single clan duel. Before too long, Melissa the Scald arrived to join the fight, wreathed in flames, and what little remained of Dagdeoth’s forces turned tail and ran. Melimo’s Deer proceeded to rally the forces of Illionass and gather aid from all across Roekron, and led an assault directly on the city of Dagdemar, capital of Dagdeoth. The attack was a resounding success, and the dark forces of Dagdeoth were all but scoured from the earth. Truly, it was a victory for all the good folk of the Free Republics, and Melimo’s Deer.
The Fall of Rhysic Unfortunately for those who remained behind, the great Lich Rhysic took advantage of the absence of significant military forces during the assault on Dagdeoth, capturing several cities in southern Roekron and deploying groups of really gods damned irritating undead dark heroes across the map with reckless abandon. Fortunately enough, however, the daughter of Melimo’s Deer, Frederika Melimosdeersdottir, was able to lead a coalition of Frostfang Veterans, Gramion Guard, Illionass Knights, Sorikonian Martial Masters, Priestesses of the Elder Goddess, Warriors of the Elder Goddess, Reformed Knights of the Dagdemar, and Eon Ion Special Forces against the tyrannical might of Rhysic. Rhysic, however, soon gained an unexpected ally in the returned ex-archmages of the disbanded Wizard’s Trade Order. The fighting was dangerous and erratic, spanning the entire known world. Before too long, Melimo’s Deer returned from his war with Dagdeoth, and joined Frederika Melimosdeersdottir in an expedition to the Grey Isles. Within days of arriving there, they successfully restored Archmage Gristodemdal to life, enlisting his aid in the fight against Rhysic. On their way out of the Isles, however, Frederika became lost in the shifting mists, unable to be found again by her father. In his grief and despair at his daughter’s loss, Melimo’s Deer volunteered to fight Rhysic personally. Against all odds (but not in entirely unexpected fashion), Melimo’s Deer easily defeated the Lich, also locating all 5 of his phylacteries and utterly destroying them. In the meantime, Gristodemdal effortlessly removed all that remained of the Wizard’s Trade Order from existence, and proceeded to wave his staff, causing the World Lance to vanish and instantly curing the Seer’s Plague. He then destroyed all morganti with a single spell, ended world hunger, and disappeared in a flash of purple smoke. Why the smoke was purple and not grey continues to be a point of contention among historians and metaphysicists alike.
This concludes Part 1 of the 2015-2016 Time Jump.
