This is my story, thus far, that I share with one of the Yohanisburg librarians who has kindly offered to write what I have to say. She has my thanks. I should, uh, probably say who I am. My name is Yun Varlang. I have seen many moons and many seasons pass. In more common terms think I would be around...I am sixteen years old? Maybe seventeen? As strange as this may sound to other people, I was raised by wolves. Yes, wolves.
Our pack's territory was set in the forests near Garendel. From the time I could first remember to but a few years ago, they were my family, and I loved them. They taught me how to run and hunt and how to see through night as if it were day. They showed me how to be one among many in a pack, and how to howl. The females of the pack followed the wolves' goddess of the moon, Tor. It was said she carries the moon across the sky on her back or it was one of her eyes, thus the moon was called " Tor's Beacon". Tor is the guardian of all female wolves. I like to think she still watches over me, even though I am not really a wolf, but I still howl in her honor on full moon nights. I remember howling all together with my mother and sisters on those nights. There is much happiness in those memories. I stayed with the pack once I was old enough to hunt on my own. Most of my brothers leave to try and start their own packs, or join new ones, but like a number of my sisters I chose stay.
I never really thought about my parents- my birth parents- during that time. I did have one memento of them, a metal helm with wings raised high and shining against the sides. I believe the Valkyries of Norse lore wore helmets similar to that design. I kept it hidden under the roots of a large tree for safekeeping. I assumed they abandon me in the woods for whatever reason, leaving my wolf mother to raise me with the rest of her litter. A friend recently pointed out that the wolves could have easily eaten me but miraculously they didn't. I am glad they didn't.
It was only a few years ago that I left the pack. It was a particularly hot and dry summer that year. There was a big forest fire that swept through our territory and burned everything in its wake. Nearly all of my wolf family was taken, including my wolf mother. Those who were not fast enough, or grew confused and ran in all the wrong directions, but I ran like hell that day. There were not many of us who survived. Those who did left to find new territory and start over again, which is when I decided it was time I tried living among other humans like me. I met more than just humans, and they showed me how 'normal' people lived and communicated with each other. Becoming ' normal' was a long and difficult thing but hey, I'm not saying," {barking noises} " when I want to tell people I'm hungry anymore, ha ha.
Then I came here to Yohanisburg sometime around the third or fourth moon of the year. I was more or less a lone wolf looking to start a new life away from my pack's territory ( or what was left of it), and Yohanisburd sounded like a decent place for journeymen like myself. Half the party I joined were off doing some Norse-related mission so I joined the other half in exploring the ruins of Menonass. We met some people who said they were attacked by a strange beast as we entered the ruins. The body was still there for us to check out but I had never seen any creature like that so I had no idea what it was. As we went deeper into the ruins we met more of these things, which were still alive and very much trying to kill us. There were a few undead, a trap or two, and some magic items people were able to loot. We didn't get farther than this one door that was locked by a magic key. Said key was death gripped to an undead ( I can't recall what kind, but it was dead) wearing old samurai armor, but we headed back to town before anything else could be done. We might have gone back at a later date, I can't remember. There was one girl in our party, Selatiel Ku'ni, who summoned her familiar that day. That's when I met Scale. She summoned a wolf, all black from nosetip to tail, even in his eyes. He's slightly smaller than most other wolves, but he understands common tongue and can be resurrected like a regular person. He became kind of like her body guard. When I talked to him though he seemed to like me possibly better than Selatiel. Uh, don't tell her I said that.
The next thing I recall was going to a small festival in White Forks. I sang a few songs, played my ocarina, got to witness a few assassination attempts on the local authorities. There was a small mission I went on where we had to guard some magic items but it was a fairly easy one. There was also this little girl who wanted to play hide and seek, also said not to play in the river. Fairly ominous and foreshadowing now that I can look back on it. I also met this girl who wore a rabbit mask and couldn't speak, but she seemed very nice. The highlight of the evening was meeting a priestess of the Elder Goddess and completing her " challenge". I got to pick two people to help me out, one was an Urukhai named Gorash, Goddess rest his soul, big tough guy. Not very friendly, but strong. The priestess asked us three questions. The first was related to the history of Roekron which I knew absolutely nothing about, the other girl I asked to help answered that one. The next was a " what would you do in X situation" type question. I was given a scenario: I come across a band of warrior-like orcs standing over a number of defeated dwarves. Gorash insisted I fight them and show I was the strongest while the girl said to try diplomacy. They argued about it for a while but in the end I thought it was best not to get involved and hide until they were gone, then check on the dwarves. I had the best answer. The last question was a riddle. I can't remember the actual thing but the answer was icicles. For doing that, I was given two armor sets and a Spider Silk Dress. One of the armor sets I gave to the girl and the rest I kept since only women could use them. I still have the Estorock Goddess Gear, though currently defunct of all magic abilities, and the dress I'm working on getting back from a friend I had previously lent it to. I also got paid for entertaining people with my songs, so it was a pretty good festival.
The next time I did anything was helping out in the fight against Dagdeoth with more of the Yohanisburg people. Our goal was to take back a mountain called Reedman's Watch, great tactical point to reclaim for Illionass, though we did encounter some unfriendly animals on the way there. Some bird and bugs, ugh, I remember that one strung me. Had to fight our way up the mountain the first half, then someone got a party blessing of Miner which we used to dug a tunnel through the snow beneath most of Dathdeoth's troops. We had to do some sneaking on the way there which failed miserably and wound up with half of the party getting killed. I tried playing a song called the " Song of Healing" that I knew but that had no effect. Then I remembered I had made an offering to the Elder Goddess before we left town, one HP in return for a strange glowing flower. Not knowing what else to do, I put a mana into the flower and it turned into a dress. The Dress of the Maiden Song, which granted Ritual Spell Rogue so long as I sang a song relating to whatever ritual I wanted. Wound up resurrecting everyone, which was pretty cool. When we got to the top of the mountain along with the troops of Illionass we had to keep hold of the mountain's peak until they were either defeated or gave up. Before the battle started, I remember an armored friend of mine, Heathcliff, he got a blessing from Loki. The battle went in our favor, if anyone died I sang and resurrected them, effectively keeping out numbers up. We took back Reedman's Watch that day, and I even wrote a song about it too.
Two forces, at odds with one another
A war threatens their people
And a mountain divides them apart
take back Reedman's watch together !
...Yeah, and I forget the next couple of lines, but then it goes...
Secret tunnel!
Secret tunnel!
Up the mountain!
Secret, secret, secret, secret tunnel! Yeah!
I sang it in the Broken Noble, the inn we all were staying at. It was glorious. After that I spent a lot more time in the inn socializing with my fellow party members, more learning how to be "normal" I guess. Had some real good times, met a lot of nice people, few jerks, but I generally liked the people in the Broken Noble. It gave me a lot of chances to sing and practice with the ocarina in my free time. I became better friends with Selatiel and Scale, Scale especially since I was the only person around who could speak and understand the language of wolves. I like to think of them as my first "real" friends since I had come to Illionass. Between then and the next day of adventuring, my remaining members of my wolf family came to visit. People in Yohanisburg were a little freaked out but I couldn't have been happier to see them again. We went hunting together as a pack and I gave my hand at cooking the deer we caught. It was a little raw compared to the way people could normally cook meat in the inn but I more or less grew up on raw meat.
The actual day of adventuring started of kind of crazy. Scale found me in the inn with a Morganti wound in his side and I had to translate for the rest of the group that Sealtiel had been kidnapped and her guards Morganti killed. A real crappy way to start off the day, right? As someone with starting classes in Ranger and the only one who could translate for Scale it was a must that I went to rescue Selatiel. We tracked them a ways out of town, but then we found signs that they teleported elsewhere in the area. The group temporarily split up to cover more ground and I lent my Goddess Gear to Lady Greywash so she could try to get a vantage point from above. I think it was Taril ( I could be mistaken) who summoned two spirits from the area who could tell us if they had seen Selatiel and her captors. They would tak then simultaneously exclaim “ YOU!” and “ kill” each other. Weird, I know. From what we discovered when the group's reconvened ( I howled for Scale's group to return), they had split into two groups. One with a decoy and another with Selatiel. We eventually caught up to them. These was a huge uphill battle to get her back from this one armored guy carrying a Morganti dagger, likely the one that wounded Scale. Almost everyone was taken out or killed on our side and apparently she was already dead so the best solution was to heal our wounded, resurrect the dead, and summon her body back at town.
The adventurers who didn't go after Selatiel went to fight at the Beacon on Dragonfire. That's where the animal attacks started. First it was wolves, then it was diseased bugs. I'm glad I wasn't there. I couldn't imagine fighting other wolves unless I had no other choice. So a bunch of people caught a melting sickness while the rest of us went to the Odin shrine up north of the town. It was weird. On the way we encountered bears and cows that kept trying to attack us, probably controlled by Dagdeoth. One guy was killed and my Resurrect rituals kept getting interrupted until a pilgrim on his way back from the Odin shrine used Rebirth on him. I don’t what what we’d do if we had to go through more cows and bears just to bring this guy back.
When we got to the Odin Shrine we had to defend it from attacking legions of Dagdeoth and it went fairly well. I even picked up a Frostfang Veteran Axe. I’m not really an axe wielder but I’m sure it’ll do good in someone’s hands. Better with us than Dagdeoth, right? There was a tree growing in the shrine with a well deepening before its roots. The resident priest gave Shebara a riddle she and her companions had to solve while the rest of us looked at the tree. After the riddle business was taken care of, we made a large group offering of meat from the cows we had battled earlier and items collected from the previous battle. We were given a choice in what we wanted, either wisdom or a blessing. I recall Catlyn trying to back out of receiving wisdom but that was the general consensus. The group ended up getting an oracle, my first oracle. There were words spoken but I can’t remember much... something about wisdom, and a little bird, “ for the dark one lives in you”. Ominous, as most prophetic-oracle things are it seems. I remember seeing a woman dressed in green, black hair, she was a Valkyrie, yet, I’m not sure if she was SUPPOSED to be one. She might have been standing near a gateway, I really can’t remember. Afterwards we were all blinded, some of us were easily healed with magic but others who had seen more oracles needed something stronger. We went back to town and had lunch after that. I overheard something about Selatiel having an oracle and trying to explain it to another girl. Afterwards we went to investigate a singing haunt in some ruins. Praise the Elder Goddess for The Dress of the Maiden song allowing me Spirit Guide. Part way in we heard a song. It was faint, but a few of us could make out the words. Further in we found a haunt, blindly waving a Morganti dagger around at unseen enemies. Near its feet were Nature spell stones and a paper note. People tried singing what they could remember of the song which caused the haunt o sit and pluck the strings of an invisible harp. Since we didn’t know the full song, we had to go back, listen again, then sing the whole thing over in order to solve the haunt. Right after that, we got another oracle. Two in one day, can you believe it? I saw a woman, possibly elven, standing in defense of a fallen man as a great shadow loomed over them. Then the scene changed. I saw a lake in the depths of a volcanic crater. There was ice and snow but around the lake was green. In the actual lake was a giant black tower that made all of our souls fearful. Then lightning stuck the tower and there was a searing pain in all of our heads. Once the Oracle ended and we were all blind (again) I asked Scale if he smelled anything( he was also the only one unaffected by the Oracle, lucky wolf). The moment he replied " dust", two dark heroes came out of nowhere and attacked us with flame spells. Of course we got the hell out of there, I only went back to get someone who had died and the note. I was told it said " Long time no see". Ha ha very funny whoever wrote that. So that was the end of that day.
Over the course of the following month my blindness was healed and it was also when I met Padon. He's a human, like me, also about my age. I guess Selatiel adopted him as her son when nobody was looking and thought to tell him about me. I was really confused when he found me in the Broken Noble. All he wanted to do there was talk and sit next to me, which I later found out from Scale meant he liked he for some reason. I hardly knew the guy! I saw him around the inn from time to time, even went on this crazy escapade around town one night after Gorash tried to kill him. I guess he's originally from Dagdeoth and a follower of the Dag- I mean, Danishmar, there's was something to do with his father but I can't remember what. I don't really know how I feel about a guy liking me while his god is the anti-Elder Goddess.
Come to think of it, I've never really liked ANY boy I've met, not in that way at least.
Moving on, the next big thing was attend a festival in Krodigros, the capital of Svodlun. I mingled, ate these really good almond cookies, and played ocarina. I wasn't able to see the trial or the crazy fiasco that happened afterwards, but I heard there was this weird Oracle with blue flames and people's limbs catching afire so I'm glad I wasn't there. It was a pretty good night for me overall though, I got paid a full 10 gold for performing at the festival.
Then I didn't do much adventuring after that. I was busy investigating who my birth parents could have been. If I wasn't in the inn I was looking into finding them. The most I found was a couple of lesser gentry in Garendel who had a missing daughter who would have been about my age. Unfortunately they were both mana drained by undead and killed. It would make sense if I was their daughter but they were both notably tall people, which wouldn't completely make sense since I'm a little on the short side, as far as human females go. I also remembered having this weird dream where-
( page appears to be ripped, then another page continues)
It wasn't until months later that I went adventuring with the rest of the party again. Guess I missed a lot, like more seer problems, more animal attacks, Shebara retrieving Ebonafter and a load of Nonas problems arising from that with her entire family Morganti murdered and her killing the king, her uncle Worshol and- just, Illionass is a political mess with Worshol's son Amrek on the throne and Shebara dead somewhere, not PD'd though. Something to do with Ebonafter leaving the Norse realm also caused an earthquake and all divine influences/interventions lost their effect on the plateau. So in other words, my Esterock Goddess Gear is currently defunct. I still wear it though out of sentimentality, and I like having samurai style half plate. Apparently I also missed the were-hydra and a whole load of other stuff.
It was nice to see everyone in the inn and actually participate in missions. A lot of attention was put on fighting Dagdeoth and getting people out of Browen, which had recently fallen. Almost all the territory we reclaimed from Dagdeoth was given back after Illionass's army decided to give up in response who Shebara killing Worshol and everything that ensued. What really pissed me off that that we lost Reedman's Watch.
Anyways, while people did that, I went on a small mission to escort a large package from Pinnacle to near the boarder of Ilionass. Before we could do that though we had to deal with this crazy, multi personality assassin who attacked the guy we were supposed to be hired by. Once that was taken care of, we set out of Yohanisburg. Two of us carried the box, which we had to handle with care, while the rest defended. We ran into a few Dagdean troops but we all made it through in one piece. Inside the box was this insanely small house, no idea why he wanted it moved but we all got magic items for it! I chose a Harp of the Shadow Singer, which will no doubt come in handy. Later in in the day this kid ran into the Broken Noble frantic about someone falling into a hole. Those of us in the inn went to investigate. I remember Rollo and myself going but the names of the others eludes me.
To make a long story short, we found a deep hole leading to an underground room full of war trolls. They were not very aggressive, mostly working to keep the door closed and attack Rollo when he insisted on going inside. There was a door on the far side of the room but we never went any further. Apparently the trolls were waiting for something, maybe a command? Goddess knows.
At some point that day I had a chat with Scale regarding that weird dream I had, you know, the one from when my pack visited. I [ paper is torn again and continues on another page]
A lot of stuff happened in the inn after that. I guess there's one thing in particular I should tell you about. I'd forgotten it was a full moon night until Catlyn pointed it out. So Padon had just sat down next to me when I told him I had things to take care of and ran out of the inn to find somewhere to howl. Even if all the gods had lost power on the plateau, I still help a need to uphold the traditions of the pack. I still felt like, maybe, Tor could still hear me, even if she couldn't offer any blessings or whatever. Tradition is tradition. I took Wolf with me outside town before howling for a good fifteen, twenty minutes. I guess Padon had followed me and showed up out of nowhere with a knife and he has these rats in his jacket, and just- I'm still pissed about it. He disrespected me AND my goddess by needlessly killing a rat and practically threatening me that night. That's also when this red wolf with a white ear showed up to defend me. I'm really confused by her. She knew common and she knew Scale but said she wasn't connected to the Red Wolf. Even weirder was that I saw her again the Broken Noble. Maybe she's just another wolf like Scale, I really don't know at this point. Padon did apologize a week or so later, but, ugh, I don't want to talk to him.
So yeah. That's been my life so far. I don't know if I'll ever be able to do another chronicle like this again with the front lines of Dagdeoth so close to Yohanisburg but hey, this life isn't over yet. There's still hope for winning the war, even if it's just me out there doing something crazy.
[There is a small note written on the back]
Catlyn. I know you go to the library often, so if you read this I want you to remember to bring Scale with you. I know he’s hiding things from me and I need to know what those things are!

A lot has happened since my last chronicle, so I’ll start from the beginning. With the loss of Reedman’s Watch and the Illionass government a mess after the Shebara Nonas incident, I decided to take matters into my own hands and started my own wolf pack. It started with just a few of us, but the more we attacked Dagdeoth, guided by the Red Wolf, the more wolves joined with us. Usually what would happen is the Red Wolf showed me where a Dagdean squadrons and Fury Fauna would pass through. Because they were in transit, they would never expect to be attacked. The animals under their control would then turn against them and fight for us. By the end of the month, I had forty wolves in my pack alone, enough for thirteen separate barbarian hordes. After a meeting of pack leaders from across the respective lands, another 200 were willing to fight with me against Dagdeoth.
After that, I headed to Randwin with Scale, and a few others. This was also when all of the sight based abilities had mysteriously stopped working for some reason which was very inconvenient. I was going to find Xey, an elf who I heard could help me investigate who my parents were, and to talk to Selatiel about Scale. I traveled polymorphed as a wolf. Along the way, about 20 more wolves joined my pack and were gladly welcomed. We ran into two undead beings along the way, apparitions if I recall correctly. Then in Randwin we had to deal with these fellows from Esterock Keep who wanted to fight Selatiel because it was their contention that the High Queen was actually a seer and secretly evil or something. So that lead Selatiel and a few others to head to Esterock, some continued on, but I stayed in Randwin to watch over my pack and interrogate- I mean kindly ask Scale a few questions. [ paper is torn, the next is a fragment]
Then I did some research with Xey about the history of wolves in Roekron, very interesting subject. I learned about Lord Lobos from Amir, the guy made a lot of wolf related magic items which makes me very happy. There were also wolf riding elves at one point, but I’m fairly certain that I am not part elven. Then there are the Nonases, it’s like I can hardly do any research without their names coming up somewhere. ( I had done some prior research with Catlyn at the Yohanisburg library about the basics of the family tree, starting with Lady Nonas). Apparently they have strong historical ties with wolves, stuff having to do with druids and wolves roaming around Menonass and Fenrir Nonas. I think they were fighting off Dagdeoth, or someone, I can’t recall. Some stuff also came up about highly intelligent wolves that dwell in the far north. Well doesn’t that sound familiar? [ paper is torn again]
I spent a long time after that pouring over old chronicles to see what I could find. Hardly anything, unfortunately, but I believe my grandfather’s name was Orson now. It was only mentioned once, but the time and place fits. There were mentions of wolves and wolf-spawnmen and elven wolf riders here and there, but I believe there was one really, really, and I mean really old chronicle that mentioned a large, intelligent wolf going on a mission somewhere. [ paper is torn]
The next time we went adventuring, I was there in time to join Selatiel, Silent, Jenny, and a few others on a hunt after some large, lizard like creature which had left its tracks near town. I should probably mention this was also during the time when a whole bunch of sensory and sigh based abilities weren’y working for some reason. So, as a ranger, normally I have Scouting and can see anything or anyone that’s trying to hide. We did a test where Scale stepped into some shadows and hid himself, but none of us could scout him. I couldn’t use Spirit Guide, or Nightvision, or Tracking or anything! Which, by the way, makes it reeeaaally difficult to hunt down a loose hydra ( we met a dead guy, resurrected him, and we were pretty sure from that point it was a hydra). We also ran into a Cobben name Zoe Wayfinder on the way and fought off some ex-Dagdean looking groups.
Back to the issue of lack of tracking, and that’s why I have 60 wolves. 60 born and raised hunters and trackers could easily find the beast, which is why I love being the leader of a massive wolf pack. We were able to track it down, Selatiel’s guards took its heads, and that was that. After that, I chose to follow Silent and a group of other adventurers down into the Underroads. She didn’t say why we were going down there, but we just did. I took five of my pack with me and polymorphed into a wolf. First we ran into three magic wielding trolls who more or less decimated our group and went berserk, killing one of my wolves. We chased them back down towards the entrance where they ran into the 55 waiting ourside. Seven more wolves were killed, but the trolls were defeated. Then, before I could get outside to assess exactly how the pack was doing, Silent closed the door and it magically sealed shut. It should also be noted that the walls were sanctified, which is to say that no spirit can pass through. There was further exploring and undead to slay, and apparently the divine influence was working down here, but then as we reached the last room, we had no way out. No one could open or find any doors. So for two weeks stright, we were stuck down there with limited food and barely any water. We made it out alive thank goddess, after the sensory based abilities suddenly returned to us. I could see in the dark again, and when we finally got out I found my pack waiting for me outside.
A lot had happened during those weeks, we had lost the plateau to Dagdeoth and were forced to flee to Randwin, which became the new front line. I swear, first we lost Reedman’s Watch and now this?! How am I supposed to protect the wolves I asked to follow me when something like this happens? Without the negation of divine influence, the wolves will be vulnerable to the Fury Fauna blessing and be turned to Dagdeoth’s side. I worry for my pack, as well as the other wolves. If only we had a way to protect them from the blessing off of the plateau...
Once I was well again, the last thing I did was return to the Underroads. I swore to myself I would never go underground again but this was my last chance to go adventuring. We made it past the room we had previously been stuck at, fought some subterranean trolls and other things, then found this strange room covered in black and white symbols with a large yin-yang in the middle of it. And then we saw a group of haunts, all sitting around the yin-yang speaking to each other, but not a sound was heard. A few people stood on the dots, offered a mana, then suddenly appeared in a diferent part of the room with three of the haunts around them. Some fought, others spoke, but then they began to do things. I can’t remember exactly what happened, but there was a hooded figure, and my soul felt very, very afraid. The haunts were moving, probably their last actions before death. I wish I had stayed longer to find out what happened, or tried to solve the haunts.
Back in Randwin, Xey suggested looking into Lord Lobos as a possibly ancestor since he had a strong association with wolves. Nothing came up, but it looks like he came from an Illionass line, which would explain his abilities with wolves and make it possible my ancestors were also from Illionass. [ paper is ripped]

Without anyone else to research, I went to Amir Ford to try finding someone who might know about Grandmother Herring. I wound up speaking to Electra Bosium, the head of the Ladies of the Nightwatch. She had one terrifying morganti glaive that made my soul want to cower in the deepest reaches of my being. She said she knew Herring and offered to check my ancestry with Elder Sorcery and a few other methods. I explained how being Identified and powerful Elder Sorcery had this odd effect of making me go berserk, like some kind of defense mechanism I wasn’t even aware of until I met the Red Wolf and had that massive flashback. So she asked me to put my armor and weapons aside in case I went berserk, and placed an oddly curved dagger on the table in front of me, that it would protect me from harm. So I did as she asked, took the dagger in my right hand and took a seat on the ground while she started preparing some kind of ritual. I asked her if she knew anything about intelligent wolves. The next thing she replied was, “ Yes, I do...”
“ And you are a Nonas.”
The dagger had suddenly started glowing with red and blue flames running up the sides of the blade. "That dagger is Aqua Flame, a legendary dagger of the house of Illion and only usable by the Royal family. Well, I guess we know who your parents were... Roughly."
And that is when I realized that Scale had been keeping the biggest secret of my life from me. I was a Nonas. That was the royal family I belonged to. Shebara was probably my cousin, as was Jerik and every other Nonas descended kid. I had loosely speculated about being a Nonas and taking the vacant throne for myself as the Queen of Wolves, but that was only a fantasy. Taking a throne was not so simple.
I was speechless for a few moments, then replied, " But... But HOW? My mother was- and- and Grandmother Herring was from Amir- and my-" and then I suddenly stopped and realized something. "..." A few months prior in my research, I had found Catlyn doing research of her own in the Yohanisburg Public Library. I managed to obtain her notes on the Nonas line from Lady Nonas onwards to the current family tree. I couldn’t see any possibility for relation, but then I remembered a certain family member who had been disinterested in family politics, went to Sorikonia, and was never heard from again.
" ... Did Qualin Nonas ever have any descendants after he chose to stay in Sorikonia?”
It turns out that Qualin Nonas was my grandfather, and grandmother Herring also came from an Illionass-Nonas line in Amir, making my mother a double Nonas, so to speak. This meant that I had a legitimate claim for the throne of Illionass, I could become the alpha among humans Scale had suggested earlier in the year. The only problem was, I didn’t know if I wanted it. Okay, yes, I did want it, but only so that I could effectively fix all the shit illionass was going through with Dagdeoth encroaching from the North and everything. If we could take back even a tiny part of the plateau, I could send in my wolves and we would sweep across the plateau. The only thing is that Jerik had been the most well discussed heir to the throne, and as his friend I didn’t want to have any weird, friendship comprising rivalries with him. I went back to Illionass, we spoke, I explained how I was a Nonas and we were related, and no matter what happened, we would support each other for whoever took the throne. I know the Red Wolf is urging me to take it and lead “ my pack”, but I still feel conflicted over what’s best for Illionass, if I’M what’s best for Illionass.
[ written on a later date] Something I learned since my last chronicle: I have some kind of resistance to Divine effects. You know what else is resistant to Divine effects? The plateau. I also haven’t aged at all, I still look 16! Things keep getting curiouser and curiouser for me.
So the plan is to let Jerik and Three take the throne as King and Queen while I support them as Princess-General, basically he rules and handles political/diplomatic things while I lead the military and make sure Jerik, and the country as a whole, doesn’t get walked over. We're cousins now, which makes Jerik part of my pack, and the pack looks after each other. Nobody's going to mess with my cousin while I'm around. Supporting Jerik seemed the best choice for Illionass, which is exactly why Amrek’s sister Jan tried to divide us. She challenged me for whatever royal right I had. We were to fight in front of the Shrine of the Elder Goddess, each of us dueling the other while our allies duked it out around us. I was touched when adventurers from my party volunteered to fight for me, to support my rule as queen even. There was Turok, Eric, and Caylyn. Before the duel, I used the Dress of Maiden Song to try and summon a temporary familiar to aid me in battle. I wound up summoning my actual familiar, or the thing I am a familiar to in this case. The Red Wolf came, we spoke, I told him what I was doing and what I might need. Then it helped me remember that in the wolf pack, I had learned to fight and tear with my hands as if they were weapons. It said that if I needed its help, all I had to do was howl. As we stood in front of the Shrine, Janice said a few words to the Elder Goddess, which seemed unnecessarily lengthy. I follow the goddess too, but in place of words I howled. When we fought, she kept snaring my feet or using earthbind so I couldn’t move. I was using my Esterock Goddess Gear, so when I used the cape to fly, she flew too for some reason. She kept using this long spear, and when she lost that she managed to get my katana, leaving me with the wakizashi. Even with my half-plate, she kept getting hits on me while snaring my legs. With adrenaline, I couldn’t pass out so I was one hit away from dying when I hear Turok remind me “ you have battle cry”, so with the last of my strength I readied a cry with instead of sound, red and white flames leave my mouth and set Janice aflme. I stared at her burning body a moment, in awe of what I had just done, then pat the flames out with Eric. I had won my duel and Catlyn and the others had defeated Janice’s group, so my social status went up three ranks. I don’t know if that is a possible thing, though, since I am already considered close royalty? I’m glad I did not lose, or else I would have been reduced to a lesser noble. So that knocked Jan out of the running to be Queen.
Later that day there was a hobbit who kept asking to hold Ebonafter. When I told him no, as it was a liability to lose the blade to someone’s deity(ies) AGAIN, so he went to ask Jan, who also told him no and had him executed for wasting her time. Aaaand this is exactly why Jan should never, ever, be Queen of Illionass.
[ witten on some later date] I ran into Padon outside of Randwin. I was howling to the full moon again. We spoke. Where he had aged a number of years since we had last met, I had not. Probably because of the Red Wolf. I should really get an Identify on it... ( if he could bother to stay still for more than a few minutes) Anyways, he started acting all weird and possessive again, like I had some kind of thing with Jerik despite that fact he is married and has kids. I don’t think he ever understood the fact that I take no interest in him. He kept asking if I wanted to live my life alone and things like that. Truth be told, I’m happy enough without a significant other. I have a family now, a wolf pack, friends from the adventuring party, I don’t need anything like that. Padon didn’t seem to understand that so I told him explicitly in common, “ I have no interest in you.” And he left.

Dear Mother,
If you are still alive somewhere and get a chance to read this, I hope I have made you proud. I spent so many years thinking you had abandon me to the wolves or some tragic accident in the forest had taken you away. I was wrong. You did not abandon me. You did not die. You gave me to the wolves. You stayed with me in the wolf pack until I forgot you were there, and then I did not remember anything for a very long time. You did so much to protect me and I did not even know it. I just wanted to thank you for, well, everything.

Ness's Chronicles
Dear Diary,
I've never kept a diary before. Diaries are stupid. Anyway, I'm writing this from a small room in the Silverwood inn in Galadrhemmon ( Galadhremom?). Like a number of other young people here, I'm here to adventure and try living a little differently. This is the farthest I've ever gone inland on the continent, can't say it's anything like I've imagined. The reason for that: I'm a sailor. Been on the sea since I was a small child, been working for... 4, 5 years now? I like having a ship beneath my feet more than solid ground.
More on Galadhremmon. I've made a few friends here, there's Aracely who's from Garendel, Medeina, Nova, and Bran. They're all nice, for the most part. We get some interesting characters in the inn as well, an undead gnome, a kobold, a bear, and then there's Brick II.
So the firstmoon day of missions was canceled because of rain. I guess elves have something against working in bad weather. That month I also met Lawford. He's the captain of a ship called the Damned Dragon, or Seventh Star? one of them. We spoke a bit, then he offered me a job helping around and protecting the ship. Most of our voyages are to Hostor and I'm working most of the week, but it feels good to be working on a boat again.
Oh! Something I should mention about Bran, he has a dog named Vie. She's like a big, friendly wolfdog. That's all I can say for now.
Ness
-------
Dear Diary,
I am sitting. And I am waiting. With Bran's dog. I've been here for a few hours, we're just sitting near the waypoint station. I think Vie was looking for Bran, but he isn't here, so I'm a little worried something may have happened to him.
So we wait.
----
Dear Diary,
Finally went on missions! And I died. Twice. So first we patrolled the forest, ran into some weird skunks, found a shrine to Yvanna. Then we got attacked by Morgul Mud and had to defend the shrine. Also met some silver-black cats on the way in, I think I saw Sed make a friend of one. I don't think I like the woods.
Next mission, people couldn't come to a consensus so I suggested we do a sailing mission. Wound up protecting an Elven trading ship sailing Southward down the coast to Eines Mein. We got attacked by pirates, which is when I was a little too egar and got myself killed... They dragged my body aboard their boat, but Bran and Nova were able to get over there and Rebirth me. We won that battle and took the pirate's boat ( during which Tatiana had to physically hold me back from killing the surviving pirates). It was decided that we'd tug the boat behind us and I'd stay on to work the rigging.
Soon after we were attacked, again, but this time there were only four or five of them, and I killed one. I'm not sure if they were actual pirates, but they were probably dark heroes and should have died anyway. I don't know how or why Bran did this, but he convinced them to protect the ship with us. Tatiana had to hold me back again while they negotiated. I'm pretty sure I tried to attack them at least two or three times. I hate pirates.
After another attack, they left with one of she ships we captured and left. Once we finished the journey, we were given the choice of keeping the first ship we captured or all the gold and magic items we had looted from the pirates. As the one who proposed the mission, and the only sailor in the party, it was my choice. I chose the goods, and we all got a share of gold or a magic item.
Some of the party went ashore and explored, I can't remember what else happened, but Aracely proposed we go into the forest again. Things seemed okay last time, so I went along. Ha ha ha big mistake.
We ran into Morgul Mud again. It killed me, then turned me into a bone warrior, and I lost all my stuff in the forest. It killed Nova and took him, so then we went back into the forest to get him and my stuff, but on the way back some idiot disturbed a silver slime demon. People died, got cursed, I know Aracely was taken. While we were running away, I think Nina(?) got me in the torso, so I was Impaled, then Atlas got my arm.
So I was stuck. In the forest. As it was getting DARK. With a bunch of screaming apes and a charmed arm.
I got desperate and offered part of a song my sister taught me to Yvanna, since we were in the forest. Nothing happened, then those cats from earlier came by and licked the silver curse away. I made it back to town in one piece with all of my and Nova's stuff.
I never want to do missions in the forest again, if I can help it. I remember Bran coming with us on the mission, but he didn't come back...
That night, Lyria, the Damned Dragon's first mate, found me in the inn and told me to get to the ship, which was weird since we weren't supposed to leave until two days later. Some crazy stuff happened, Nova was there for some reason, but we went to Hostor and back. After that I looked after Vie until Bran got back about two weeks later.
I hope we get to do more nautical missions next adventuring day.

19th Day of the 11th Moon - Central Blackspire - From the notes of Yuna Koats-Nonas
“ You cannot halt the flow of a river, only try and change its course.”
I have successfully made it into the heart of Blackspire and have joined the Morath Clan. Not much is known about this clan outside the region, hell, not much is known about Blackspire in general throughout the rest of Roekron. The Pinnacle Mage School Library is severely lacking in material about Blackspire which really didn’t help my prep for coming here. The most I knew before traveling to Blackspire was the things I learned when I was like, 10, which is better than nothing and more than most outsiders would know.
I will attempt to transcribe my field notes into a more readable narrative. Our first outing of the day was going out and fighting Darkspikes, we won 2/3 waves. I died twice, not quite sure how I died the second time... Probably from one of those spears they were using that did deadly. When we regrouped around the tribe’s central hearthfire, I met an older hobbit woman in a green dress named Leliana, “Lilly” for short. We’re in central Blackspire, staying with clan Morath. They’re more welcoming of outsiders than other clans. The terrain of the area is very mountainous and more dangerous than most places, VERY easy to get impaled on a sharp outcropping of rock and bleed out to death. With choosing missions, we can make suggestions, present arguments for why we should go on certain missions, but in the end the innkeeper just tells us that to do unless we decide to go off on our own to do something. The @ of the tribe depends on how well we raid other groups, or how well we crush groups who attack us. Because we defeated the Darkspikes 2/3, our @ went from 10 -> 15. The Morath consider the tribe “family,” so this is my family now. The tribe is good on racial diversity, because new people joining the clan are “useful for killing things”?
Our innkeeper is an orc shaman named Gobath, he wears a heavy black cloak of furs, and uses Necro Nature spells. When we gather at the central hearth, he tosses some herbs into the fire and the flames change color. Every day before missions, we make sacrifices to the totem spirits and see what animal will guide us that day. Usually there is a blessing that can be improved if you give a mana for the day, some downsides, but if you act in a way contrary to the principles of the totem you might get cursed. Today’s sacrifices were a sheet of paper with a prayer galdrastafir that I drew, 1 full jar and 1 empty jar of cool applesauce, I believe people offered mana but I did not catch the exact number. Our totem for the day turned out to be eagle.
Eagle - represents seeing, truth, seeing right from wrong, planning for the future, preparation before taking action, solving potential problems, long term gains, not short ones. Abilities gained were Scouting and Gifted Glide. If we sacrificed mana, we had Gifted Flying and Accuracy. Flaws were being aggressive to people who were Hiding.
A totem bearer is also chosen to embody the totem spirit for the duration of the day. It is a very bad idea to let them come to harm while the bear the totem. Disputes within the clan are resolved “in the Pits,” basically a fighting arena where people battle each other when they don’t agree on something. You can also drag other people into the Pits to fight on your side, but I think I’ll avoid the Pits if I can. Possible missions we could go on today were: - Guarding a dangerous path - Warriors from the west attacking, fending them off - Shrine of the Fire God under attack, go and defend it - Dealing with tribal raiders attacking from the north - Dealing with harpies dropping rocks on people - Investigate weird animals killed on the other side of the mountains
And a guy just got killed. He misspoke and angered Gobath, and now his head is now on a spike. Someone stabbed him from behind, right as Gobath shot a Terrorball at him, rendering him Terror-dead. His advice to us,“ Don’t stab your own people when I’m about to Terrorball them.” We went to the Shrine of Kulzjarabalgash, the Fire God which was in a cave. We met some friendly kobolds who also wanted to protect the shrine, we agreed to cover the back tunnel while they got the front. After a while of waiting and no one coming from the back tunnel, a group of humans rushed in with blood on their weapons, they kept calling us Dark Heroes and tried to attack the shrine but we crushed them. Most of their items were glued so in order to take their stuff I cast the stealing galdrastafir. Benefits were having unglue in that encounter, flaws were being inept at not taking stuff from each other. I’m glad to see that galdrastafir spellcasting has been successful. Now that I know it works, I can start casting spells with the other symbols.
I’m sure my colleagues and professors will be interested to hear about further spell casting results along with the other things I’ve been discovering here. For starters, orcs and urukhai are the SAME SPECIES. Normal orcs seem to be more runty, but they become shamans, and urukhai orcs are smarter, stronger, possibly because they’ve been culturally trained to be that way. The social divide between orcs and urukhai might be something the urukhai purposely maintain. For example, Gobath is an orc but he does not seem dense like how we normally perceive orcs. We also used to have a teacher back in Pinnicle named Taril Lifewick, he was an orc and a Medicine Man, and I believe he was a friend of my grandmother's. I would encourage my fellow academics back in Pinnacle to start looking into different neurological and psychological development in orcs as a new field of research so that there is some data I can compare my own findings to when I return.
A separate group from the party went and fought off either the northern warriors or the tribal raiders, which went well. Apparently they were followers of bear totem, a totem with emphasis on “looking inside yourself.” Some new missions we could go on included investigating nearby attacks on goblins. I suggested we go defend them and make them our allies, because goblins are useful distractions in battle. Someone said this was “morally incorrect,” but I think they meant “more ally, correct.” I have a feeling my persuasion skills are going to come in real handy while I’m in Blackspire. Other missions include going to caves (spelunking), and fighting off the tribal raiders. The group I went with decided to go spelunking and we met a group of clanless orcs and directed them towards the Morath if they were interested in joining. There were 3 tunnels in the cave, and according to the orcs, the tunnel in the middle led to a sleeping wyrm and its babies, and the one of the right led to drakespawn. Given the general composition of the party and our limited chances of success sneaking past the wyrm, people elected to go down the drakespawn tunnel. We went in, they were songbird/scorpion drakespawn, most of us died, I died and had to wisp out, but the party went back later and retrieved my stuff.
In the evening we went on two additional missions. First was a right of passage for one of the Urukhai. I was not there, but I heard they did something with totems and there was mention of bear totem. The mission I went on was to escort Smith (The Blacksmith, no real name I just call him Smith) to a special forging site inside one of the Shadowfall mountains. Smith had to carry a bag of materials up the mountain while the rest of us protected him. First we ran into some goblins who claimed kobolds were attacking them, then we ran into kobolds who asked us where their goblin slaves were. The party came back and kicked their tails after I explained that the kobolds were slavers and we couldn’t just leave the goblins. When we got the mountain we had to get past a bunch of size 1 fire elementals which more or less ignored us. Smith did his thing and came out with a pair of short swords/ long daggers? chained together at the pommels but could be separated for better dual wielding. ( see notebook for illustrations) Heading back to the village we ran into a horde of zombies with Revenants (killed 2/3). Died maybe 3-4 times total, but I didn't lose any levels, I’m still alive and have pages of notes, so I’d say this was a pretty good day. ----- Apparently totem spirits can act like angels in the sense that they can procreate with mortals. Learned this from a human female named Moriaen who has also recently joined the Morath tribe. One of her parents is the Scorpion Totem Spirit. She also reminded me that the kobolds who were guarding the shrine to Kulzjarabalgash the Fire God kept saying that Rift Trolls were listening through the cracks in the walls.

17th Day of the 12th Moon
Today when we gathered around the firepit, Gobath told us that a member of our party would be allowed to be Totem Bearer that day. They would become fragile, meaning they gain a Thin Soul, but they also become more powerful. Our totem that day was mouse.
Mouse - mouse looks at things up close, always asks “why”, seeks to understand why things happen, is very curious, wants to know answers, has patience, “mouse who travels long distance to hear the source of the sound of wind, it’s a river, mouse trips into the river, frog shows mouse a vision of a great mountain, the other mice don’t believe him, he ends up giving his eyes to find his way and heal others.” Abilities gained were Hide, and if we sacrificed a mana, Healing Touch. The Totem Bearer received 1 minute Identify. Flaws were Cowardly to big creatures and we became obsessed with finding answers.
Missions available that day: -Market -Guard paths -Work for adventurers -Orc farmers were having their crops stolen by kobolds -Goblins fighting something -Scorpion birds -Elves desecrating Fire God Shrine -Harpies again -Animal creatures killed on the other side of the mountain -Burning Blade Clan fighting trolls near Illionass “ Difficult to think of better solution than killing.” -Gobath ( said in response to why killing is so prevalent in Blackspire)
I went with the party that decided to go over the mountain investigate the animal creatures. First we ran into a group of humans, probably one of the barbarian tribes, and they told us of creatures dying over the mountain. Then we fought some bandits and met a harpy who only spoke a word or two of common. Once we were over the mountain we encountered these bipedal snake-lizard creatures that seemed to have either regenerating or healing factor. I saw one take a treeform as healing, which doesn’t bode well with me. We also found a white falcon (size 1/2), it resisted an Identify, and when someone force-reverted it the falcon turned into a white dragon.
I don’t think anyone was expecting that, I certainly wasn’t. There was also a griffon with white feathers that spoke in low OP Elder Sorcery. The dragon said it could train us to do things and the ores here were good for making things. They said that the the snake-things (drakespawn? spawnmen??) were consuming the magic of the area, they kept coming back (similar to hydras???). Griffon and Hawk were there to protect something magic under the earth. If they stuck around, the spawnmen would consume their magic instead of that of the area. When we asked about the source of where these creatures were coming from, they said they were being created by Rift Trolls. They both turned into birds and flew up to the mountain top, then we fought all the spawnmen and burned them in fires Hawk and Griffon had made.
A white-life elemental mole came out of the dirt along with 2 dead eggs. I got down and put my face near it and it felt my face, then Smith picked it up and carried it back to the village while I carried the eggs in my bag. We told Gobath what happened and said the Rift Troll(s) might be making spawnmen to “poke the eye of the creator”, to blind the creator, and to taunt the maker. He took the eggs and put them in the fire to return them to Kulzjar, then he asked who first touched the Life Mole. Smith spoke up before I could say anything, then Gaobath said, “ Oh, then you’re mom.” As someone with five levels in animal trainer and a friend of Smith’s I called dibs on being “dad”. Turns out I actually am dad since I technically made first contact, so we’re both its parents. I can’t wait to tell my parents they’re grandparents to a Life Mole. An Identify showed it was partly outsider, so one day it may return to the Life Elemental plane. It has the potential to grow, but I have no idea what kind of conditions and parenting things I’ll need to do to nurture this elemental-animal. Gobath also mentioned dragon buried in the base of the Blackspire Mountains, (during the fading of magic) took their eyes, voids, lose their energy, became mindless, “great ones part of that cycle”. The next missions we chose were looking into the kobolds stealing crops and elves desecrating the shrine.
I went with the party who decided to deal with the kobolds. The farm mission was fairly simple, kobolds were taking farmer’s tools and grapes from a local vineyard owned by an urukhai with orc workers. The kobolds were trying to grow grapes in a cave underground. Further in the cave were two sleeping wyrms we dealt with and a pedestal that used to be a shrine to Kulzjar. There were also humming, glowing mushrooms in the cave. On the shrine, it seemed like any previous carvings had been removed by someone. Smith made a fire and we roasted a mushroom. For a while we felt warm and toasty, a good sign, but after putting some mana into it we suddenly felt cold and the fire went out. Might have been from trying to put mana into a broken/unused shrine. From the wyrms we got about 10g worth of materials which smith plans to using to make commemorative amulets.

20th Day of the 1st Moon
First thing that happened was the party being sent out to deal with a supposed Dagdeoth Legion. I was not there, but I heard there were harpies, goblins, 20 or so beings in half-plate, a Dark Troll, trolls, ogres, something size 5 in armor, it did not go well for the party. Moriaen, who also happened to get pregnant over the month, volunteered to be totem bearer.
Otter - playful, protective, mother, joyful guidance, guides all, protects Abilities: Partner Awaken ( if you payed a mana) Mana per encounter Medicine Ball Strike, and the totem bearer can resurrect the whole party in 10 minutes, but has a thin soul. Flaws: Bound to allies smaller than you, obsessed with nurturing things
Missions available that day: - Resolve dispute in Pits ( Noman challenged one of the horned Grey Ogres to a pit fight) - Dagdeoth Patrol in Area - Steam vents that have killed animals, a shaman has spirit buried them - Goblins complaining of attack by something - More Scorpion Birds - Solve Dungeon Stone with snake ghosts - Rescue allies in cave with undead - Explore dungeon in Darkspike territory - Dagdeoth harpies raiding Kulzjar shrines - Shadowfall orcs attacking neighboring tribes - Burning Blades killing trolls near Illionass
Apparently, the party also ran into a group of spinemen with a goblin among them, then Gobath told us about the “fugly yucking” one creature raised by others that doesn’t look the same. I opted to go on the mission where we resurrected animals, and Trimar sent the rest of the party to deal with Dagdeoth harpies. Apparently one of the harpies is “ a big undead”. On the way to the animals, we ran into a group of bandits who killed a number of our party members and ran off with their stuff. We managed to take a “Blood Drinker something something Skull” off of one of the dead bandits and I sacrificed it to the Totem Spirits ( Moriaen’s mom specifically) in order to resurrect Moriaen. Apparently she heard, and in exchange for the skull Moriaen got rebirthed. While she resurrected the rest of the party, those of us that survived tracked down the two bandits that escaped with our items. They got away, but not without my knife-in-the-footprint trick. Still awaiting results, maybe we’ll run into some bandits who got trapped under a rock. We also ran into some wyrms that I tried to hunt but the rest of the party took them out before I got a chance to Slay them. When we got to the steam vents, one of the party members went around using Regeneration Touch on the animals. Ran into some ogres who wanted to hunt the animals, which made things a little messy, and a burst of steam blew out while I was rescuing an eagle. Some other members of the party claimed to have seen something in the steam, which I find concerning. We also met the shaman, who seemed nice.
Oh, I also staked one of the bandits we ran into. When he zombified, he was impaled and unable to deal any damage I think. Like he wasn’t actively trying to fight us, like a normal zombie would. The other half of the party that went to fight harpies did well, they killed two of them and (Raj) learned what a soliloquy meant. The next missions we went on were going and rescuing allies in a cave with undead and dealing with the Scorpion Birds. Rescuing allies (Timtim, Blaige, and Scorge) and fighting undead did not go well. Party ended up wisping back. Noman fought his Pit fight with the ogre, that also did not go well. Something about conspiring with an archer who was outside the Pit and breaking tribal law. We killed all of the Scorpion Birds, and their fledglings, so they shouldn’t be a problem anymore. Next missions were the Darpskipe Dungeon and investigating the Burning Blades. We fought two trolls on the way, then met some orcs who’d heard about other orcs being tortured, then killed. It turns out the Burning Blades were killing and torturing trolls and fighting broke out before we had a chance to talk things out. Last mission of the day was going out and fighting Dagdeoth, won two waves out of three.

18th Day of the 2nd Moon (2017) Four days ago, Reedman’s watch erupted in Illionass, massive earthquakes were felt across the continent, mile wide rifts have opened up across the plateau with undead pouring out of them, and as always, Dagdeoth is attacking again. I received word of this from my grandfather via letter. There is no word on whether my family there is safe, if they live, the country is in a state of emergency. Turock has gathered his warriors from Sezolath and gone to help fight Dagdeoth while we stay behind and keep an eye on the Darkspikes. Grandfather's letter also included a few verses of prophecy which bode ill for Illionass, and to an extent, all of Roekron. The prophecy is as follows: When the land trembles in torment And the plateau is broken in rifts The lord of the god of sacrifice Will come to gather the dead to his armies And the dead will dance for him And the nights will be long and dangerous The griffins bring the warning And fly to face the darkness they know When wings fly once again against the world taker Heed the guardians and take to the air
For the ground will rise against you soon And few shall survive its rebellion Watch for the demons wake For all the veins are connected_ And with the rifts comes the hordes of the underworld
As for the events of today, Trimar got sick and was not around to dictate what missions we would go on so another high-ranking Urukhai within the party was asked to occupy that role, it also happened to be the one who went missing but was rescued by Shadowfall orcs. Gobath spoke of dark dreams, a bad omen, something to do with spells/spiritual. He mentioned a dark path ahead, caution, something going amiss, he dreamed of bones. He also described dark spirits which were not to be worshiped. Dark spirits come into being when you wrong a spirit, it takes over, changes who you are. It is an inverted spirit, and it is the job of the shamans to cleanse these spirits and restore balance. We also established that doing things which ignore the lives of other is evil. The man from Sorikonia ( possibly a college of Vee?) was chosen as Totem Bearer this day. The totem was Raven. Raven: carries magic, role to connect with spirit Abilities: Chosen crown spell/touch ( burning touch, light touch, fear touch, etc.) If you gave a mana, you had Dispel Magic. The Totem Bearer had a Rank 2 rotater spell on, but had a Thin Soul. Flaws: Vulnerable to spells (meaning magic healing would go through terror) and obsessed with sources of magic. Available Mission that day ( and how most of them were resolved in order to save time): Zombies in the valley with some Revenants [Party fought them and won] Dagdeoth Legions coming in through the Odilathen Mountains [ Party fought them and won] Scorpion Birds [ was the first mission we were sent out on, killed them all] Darkspikes are doing some sort of ritual to the southwest [ I’ll get to that later] Plants are missing from farm at Vicar Morath [ this is the vineyard we visited a few months ago where kobolds were taking tools and grapes, this is also where we fought the wyrms and found the defunct shrine to Kulzjar] Darkspikes are now heavily guarding that dungeon the party investigated last month [ I think they went there? kicked their asses, then I’m not sure what else they did there?] Drinking pool contaminated to the north, Gobath sent 8 scouts and only 2 returned [ This is the mission I opted to go on.] Sezolath allegedly invading Illionass, which is bullshit. I can confirm with Trimar and Turock that they’re going there to help defend Illionass against Dagdeoth because A) Illionass helped Blackspire drive Dagdeoth out of the mountains B) Illionass accepted refugees from Blackspire when the mountains erupted C) If Illionass falls, Dagdeoth has an open gate into the rest of Roekron Shadow fall orcs are still attacking [ They’re fighting men in order to look for prospective husbands/ boyfriends/ partners or just mates. I invited them back to Sundar Moath because they weren’t exactly impressed with them men in our party. Also because I want Shadowfall gal pals] We spent the entire day at the lake. The scouts who survived said that those who drank the water grew pale, then their flesh seemed to fall off, then they died. Around the edges of the lake, some distance from each other, we found seven poles staked I tot he ground in a circular formation. They were blessed in some way/used for ritual purposes with strips of grey, pink, and yellow strips of cloth tied to 4/7 of the poles. In the center of the poles was a bed of charcoal and burned wood, and from what we could tell something was roasted over a fire here. There was oily, iridescent sheen on the surface of the water. The water seemed sick, unclean. Another group of orcs came by and we had to tell them not to drink the water then in the middle of that spectral-skeletal aquatic creatures started coming out of the lake and attacking us. (Natania) took some of the bones we found in the leftovers of the fire and put them back in the water, then a giant spectral-skeletal gar fish-like creature came out of the lake and started dragging itself around on land with these weird legs. This reminded me of one of my grandmother’s adventures, when she went to Dsesnor to help deal with a massive void-ish sinkhole that was growing near Esterock Keep. It turns out the hole was the result of someone exorcising a haunt which punched a kind of hole in reality, and it was the haunt of a water kami spirit. Grandmother solved the haunt by asking, “ Are you the river that wants to meet the sea?” The haunt disappeared, the hole stopped growing, and water flowed down from the mountains to form Mist Lake. With that in mind, I asked, “ Have your waters been tainted with wrongfully spilled blood and sacrifice?” And heard my voice echo back at me from across the water, which I took as a “yes.” The party was fighting off the undead water spirits, Vee was doing things, then there was smoke and fire on the water. Vee offered herself to the fire and she had a vision which the shamans and medicine women of the party were able to pick up on. The vison is as follows: I am a fish spirit. A hand reaches down, the hand is made of light, it brushed my scales and renews my power. There are seven sources. Two hands reach down and grab me out of the water, burned with the seven sources around me/still present, claws rip me open, there is light beneath me, there is smoke, rage, rage goes into the smoke as well as the intent, smoke is carried by the windTo note, the shamans and medicine men/women present were myself ( a human totem shaman), Vee ( a human death shaman), Moriaen ( a human medicine woman/ totem shaman/ daughter of the Scorpion Spirit), Rojo ( an orcish medicine man/shaman??), (Alex) ( an orcish medicine man?), and (Issac) ( an orcish shaman). We noticed there was something smokey, kind of sickly in the air. All the spectral-skeletal aquatic animals turned into bones, which (Natania) returned to the water. There was some debate over what should be done to resolve this and the shamans/medicine men of the party opted to do a group oracle which lasted the rest of the day. The Oracle at the LakeWe see a smokey haze, feels like burning, like there’s flames on us, our skin is burning/peeling off, we a bigger figure looking down and moving its hands, it has claws, a dark twisted face, maybe similar to the first vision. We’re trying to escape but we’re bound. There’s many figures surrounding us, flames under us. We’re looking out and confused. Things are going to devour us, and there’s a kind of irony to that, it’s odd, the burning is wrong and familiar. We look at our hands and they’re made of light which are familiar to us??? But they’re also not our hands??? There’s burning, it’s a malicious burning. [ Vee spent a death to be one of the seven sources around us] Things are silent, like set to mute. There’s an emphasized clarity. We see a long fish that’s burning, a black liquid dripping out of it, it’s thrashing around. We see the figure has a black-silver-speckled knife (obsidian), something oily coming out of the fish, the eyes of the fish are much too intelligent. We see other figures that are chanting and cheering. One of the figures is too big, like he’s swollen and stretched to be too big. There are two things fighting for existence within the fish. There’s something odd about this vision. Blood is dripping into the fire and turning into smoke and getting carried on the wind, the fear, the anger, the rage. Our vision has no depth, things are blurry, not normal. The stakes look nicely carved, they’re trapping the fish, that’s how they’ve used it. We feel a burning pain, but (Issac) reflects the pain, and the vision shifts. We are confused on a beach, dying. People are walking around. We see our bones blowing in the wind and stabbing people. Something in a way is wrong, not like the proper hunting. [Vee spends a death to see the full picture.] Feels like expanding. We hear sound again, hear wind and music, melodic, voices strange, feels like we’re listening to all sounds. There’s something turning and spinning, center, overwhelmed. We get the sense we’re close to the edges of the spirit world and we’ll go numb if we go too far. There’s also this intense hunger, devouring everything, pulling things in, churning, (plants?) consuming things, so much more, (hole?) all beings, sense of (focusing?) in mind, changing and shifting, lucid dreaming, ferocious emotion, passions, etc. We touch something, cold, deeper, something we didn’t know was there, trying to find way back to the water. We’re holding a wiggling thing, but we also open up something vast behind us, a kaleidoscope. We debate over whether to look, whether to let the fish go, what to do, and in the end we turn around. Some of us close our eyes, some of us keep an eye open, and we’re overwhelmed with information. I closed my eyes and the fish is gone. Our minds are rapidly expanding, like there’s so much information we might go insane. [ The rest is mostly illegible bits and phrases, will try to transcribe what I can or add in the relevant prophecy we were hearing.] Master’s house Storm clouds Soldiers, hungry eyes Tide (?) Dark one lives in me Guardian burns the fields Little bird, moonlight metal
( prophecy that we heard, as copied from previous documents)

Vision ends, we die, there seems to be a question. We can ask a question, like an oracle waiting for us to open. Each question is tied to an element. When all the questions are used, that will be the end. When we got back to the village, we heard about how things went when people went to investigate the Darkspikes ritual. From what we heard, there were undead, two captured shamans who have been rescued and are with us now, and a size 5 Urukhai with bulging, swollen muscles. He didn’t take anything they threw or used on him, which makes me very suspicious about what he is. I would also like to note, at the festival in Mithil Ulienene, the party went out to fight Darkspikes and ended up fighting orcs and Urukhai who were vampires. We learned from the two shamans who were rescued is that they were attacked while doing shaman and totem related things. Their entire tribes were killed by some invisible force or being that they couldn’t interact with. They couldn't be resurrected, one of the shamans was lifted up by the thing. The tribes were part of Cora Lod and Sezolath. The shamans say it was like they were trapped in a dream where they were trying to find their familiars but they couldn’t find each other. What we know of the size 5 Urukhai, he has an aura of fear, of dark spirits, he has collected totems and bound them to him. As for the pool, it’s still a little nasty but it’s slowly cleansing. People still have brain damage if they get resurrected. Apparently, the thing that killed us at the pool was seven different colored points of light slamming into us and knocking up back.

17th Day of the 3rd Moon First thing we did today was protecting Sezolath villages which were being attacked by cave trolls. When Gobath addressed the party afterward, he spoke about the day being filled with apprehension, like a rock being thrown into a pool and the ripples reaching the shore, and the rock will drop today. Turok is also here while Trimar is busy elsewhere. The Darkspikes also have a new leader. Before asking the totems for guidence, we had a discussion about whether or not to commune with the totems, in light of recent event and the risk of the Totem Slayer. We have reason to believe he was either resistant or immune to damage from people who had been blessed by the totems. I voiced concerns about gaining the Totem Slayer’s attention and risking the totems themselves. A few of us chose to sit out, including myself. Turok asked me, “ What do you think Yuna Nonas?” so now the village knows I’m a Nonas. Thanks, Turok... Our totem that day was Antelope. Antelope: very fast, action, speed adaptability, avoid indiscriminate destruction of life, find a new way, follow inner voice. Abilities: Gifted Avoid, Fast, ( if you paid a mana) Limited Shimmering while moving, the Totem Bearer gained skills they avoided. Flaws: Inept at killing more than once an encounter, sensitive ot intention, obsessed with taking action quickly Available Missions:- Zombies attacking villages - Dagdeoth bringing ogre reinforcements - Iron golems in the mountains - Other tribes hunting down non-orcs - Darkspikes are doing rituals again - Plants missing from Vicar Moath farm - Darkspike Dungeon still guarded - The pool is still contaminated and Salmon has issues - Large skeletons capturing orcs and Urukhai in Sezolath - Still “invading” Illionass The group I was with actually got sent, by Turok, to being Sezolath troops back from Illionass. On the way we ran into a three beings surrounded by kobolds. The beings wore cloaks and went ethereal, two were size 5 and one was size 4. They had an insignia of a skull with colored claws grasping the top of it. We also ran itno some cave trolls but they weren’t much of a problem. The first Sezolath group we ran into was dealing with some villagers who weren’t exactly the most friendly folk. Perks of being a princess of Illionass, it’s easy to get people’s attention and try to get them to calm down. Among the Sezolath was a Dark Ogre with a bone nose piercing who went ethereal and ran out of the encounter. I tried to follow but couldn’t keep up. In the next group, the villagers were much friendlier and were sad to see the Sezolath go. They were also willing to be checked for vampires among their group, and another Dark Ogre went ethereal and fled. Couldn't keep up with him either. Turok wasn’t exactly pleased to hear about this when I reported back to him. During lunch, Vee, Fia, and myself did an oracle to ask “ What’s suppressing the minds of orcs?” I have my own transcription of the oracle but will refer to Vee’s Chronicle. The other half of the party had gone to investigate what tribe had been killing non-orcs. Apparently a tribe known as the Shaykay are responsible. Gobath says they’re usually good fighters, but not killers? They also have a new leader. Of the group that the party captured, only one survived. The others withered while they were leaving and black mist came out of them. The next missions we went on were investigating the Iron Golem and a group going to a nearby Kulzjar Shrine as a response to the oracle we had just undertaken. I went with the group that went to the Kulzjar Shrine. There we encountered a vampire posing as a Dsesnoian diplomat. For further details I’ll refer again to Vee’s and Ros’s Chronicles. While we were at the shrine, Sundar Moath got attacked. There was morganti, rift trolls? Turok got involved, from what I heard he went were and killed people on both sides with morganti. The survivors of have scattered and since regrouped at another village. The group at the shrine, my group, half of us got chased down and killed by cave trolls as we were leaving. After that, Rojo was kind enough to let me stay with his family until the tribe regrouped. Many people lost their belongings, their homes, loved ones, as far as I know most of my items were not taken by enemies and both my dogs, Keja and Lira, have returned to me alive and no worse for wear. -- Orcish phrases I've learned from Trimar: Lok'tar ogar - "victory or death", a war cry, also used as a form of farewell Throm'ka - "well met"

22nd Day of the 4th Moon
Orcish phrases I’ve learned from Trimar Lok’tar ogar - “victory or death” used as both a battle cry and a form of farewell Throm’ka - “well met” said after greeting
The village is being rebuilt in a new location and Gobath lives, but he has a morganti splinter lodged in a dangerous position in his spine and has plans to do a cleansing. The village’s @ is currently 2. We also have some waterproof pelts we can trade. Our totem today was Mountain Lion, and Burnie( Burny?) was our Totem Bearer.
Mountain Lion - can be a difficult power totem, embodies leadership but is also a target of problems for others, so a possible scapegoat. Abilities: Partner Awaken, and improved teacher @level if you payed a mana. Flaws: arrogant, and obsessed with convincing others of your idea
Available Missions: Hunting / Building / Farming to rebuild the village and raise the @ Fighting Ogre Reavers, already fought some, 5 Divisions and some harpies Zombies spreading through villages along with sudden deaths Dark heroes, stealing orcs from nearby village Human bandit groups from Amir Animals and hunters in the north being killed ( by a wyrm or wyrms) Cave Trolls, led by Rift Trolls Litch, large skeletons Salmon Pool still has issues Giants near Shadowfall and Kobolds are building a shrine? New Shrine to the Fire God needs protecting Group of ogres looking to join Oge Reavers Krackens? Something about territory Elite, high ranking heroes from Amir Caravans from the river need guards
Shamans are gathering in Mithil Ulienen for Turok’s trial. While guarding the caravan, we ran into a group of wartrolls, two groups of mountain sheep, hunted them, and some brittlemen. The shamans of the party, myself included, decided we should go to Mithil Ulienen and tell the assembled shamans what we learned about Kulzjar via oracles last month. On the way we ran into a group of humans from Amir/Temnor bandit lands who were trapping and killing a pack of wolves. I wasn’t going to stand for this, so we took them down and managed to save a small handful of the wolves. We were able to find out that they were sent from a village near a river. Their intent was to hunt the animals, taking away resources from current Blackspire inhabitants, so that they could take their land. They said their leader is named Mason. We got to Mithil Ulienen and spoke with some of the shaman apprentices near the entrance of the city. They had visions of the hunters we encountered earlier. We got into a long discussion of metaphors as people tried to explain last month’s oracles when an earthquake suddenly struck. Shards of obsidian came flying out of the ground dealing 5 AV0 magic, tower(s) collapsed in the city, along with the central area where the trial was being held. A crag opened up and green mist is coming out, just like in Illionass. We ran into the city to try and rescue people, ended up fighting a lot of zombies and a few Revenants. When we got to the place where the trial was being held it was in the process of being excavated. Turok is okay, and the shamans were willing to listen to Thagook (Isaac) and Burny (Murali) when they explained the visions from last month. I tried casting the Greater Blusterer galdrastafir to summon wind that would blow the mist out of Mithil Ulienen but for some reason it didn’t work? From there, Mark (Alex) led the party to protect the new Kulzjar shrine from Darkspikes. He wanted to get an item enchanted and do a follow-up to another oracle he had where he saw a man with a mud mask. He took sap from a root and put it on his face, then splashed on some water, then the wind blew and dried it. He mentioned flames behind the eyes. We had some encounters on the way and a few narrow victories against the Darkspikes while defending the shrine. It’s near the lake near the Shadowfall cliffs.
25th Day of the 4th Moon Trimar saw a 30ft alligator at the river yesterday, tracks indicate that it’s size 7

20th Day of the 5th Moon
Gobath has had bad dreams, less of a leader, his ability to function is waning, will go on journeies here and clense, search for a solution, losing connection, must be remade. There are forces moving, a coming darkness. We gotta make sure Gobath doesn’t die... can’t be summoned either. Mists/cracks, evil spirits, connected to evil here. Gobath had dreams of an insect stuck to an animal and drinking its blood and engorging itself, it was disguisting to view, it will explode but doesn’t care. He also had dreams of many serpents, gathering for a beginning or an end or a beginning of an end. It is important that Gobath stays here. This morning is the only time he can chose a mission for us. He also had vision of great leaders in the inn ( this was said while Turok was standing behind him). Turok also read aloud what his punishments were for the destruction and subsequent harm of Sundar Moath, they are as follows:
Turok Sezolath Kinslayer, Hero of Illionass.
I have betrayed my clan by destroying Sundar Moath and causing the morganti death of 8 people within the town and the injuriries of 8 more. I offer to the shamans of Blackspire these as my punishments:
A morganti scar to be inflicted to my body by the family of every person killed in the destruction of Sundar Moath, these will be done publicly. The injuries cannot be enough to deal damage to my hitpoints, but can deal pain damage if the family wishes. The cuts may be anywhere, but cannot be deep enough to threaten my life. This will be so I can always remember those who I took the life of and that they will be permanent additions to my body as well as my mind. The shamans have chosen for these to be given after the deaths of the two remaining rift trolls.
I will hunt down and kill the remaining two rift trolls of the red teeth clan within the next year. If I fail to do this my agreed upon punishments are null and void and I will be arrested by the shamans of Blackspire.
I will begin to contain and deal with the rift that has opened up in Mithil Ulienen.
I will relinquish my ability to carry morganti forever and relinquish my ability to let anyone within my clan to carry morganti for 120 years. After that time they will decide if that will become permanent or not.
Protection of New Sundar Moath from high level Sezolath troops for 120 years (10 for each killed 5 for each injured) Sezolath will also help in anyway possible with the building of New Sundar Moath.
I will give each morganti injured person 2000 gold’s worth of items/supplies in compensation for their injuries. These supplies and gold will come from my personal supply, but cannot include morganti.
I will give every family of a person morganti killed 10 acres of land within Sezolath territory. This will be in addition to the 2000 gold worth of items/supplies offered to those injured. This land will be protected by Sezolath for 80 years and reclaimed and repaired if lost.
I will create eight major shrines to the fire god within blackspire within 8 years
For the next year I will allow challenges for the position of Warchief if anyone does not believe that I am still fit to rule Sezolath.
I will oversee and supply materials and labor for the building of another city within Blackspire in a location agreed upon by the other Warchiefs.
Our totem bearer today is Basil, the urukhai from Amir who is a paladin of Kulzjar, and the totem is dragonfly
Dragonfly: illusion, medicine of dreams, facade, reality, colors not found in everyday experience, vague memories, elder sorcery, dragonfly was once a dragon, transformation and change, deeper understanding of self Abilities - Glide ( if you payed mana) Polymorph ( Totem Bearer) auto-rebirth as an animal Flaw - take damage from immobilization, obsessed with changing situations and ideas
Available Missions Today: - hunting/building/farming ( current @8) - Goblin tunnel system w/ Dagdeoth - Zombies spreading in villages - Army of Dagdeoth harpies fighting griffons - Battles between local tribes - Drakespawn on Mt.Blackspire, Gorilla-Scorpions - Major storm in the north, focused, tornado? - Large skeletons capturing orcs - Rebuilding Mithil Ulienen, Dsesnor’s helping - Earthquakes near Cora Lod - Thunderwalkers near Shadowfall - Protecting shrines
We decided to deal with battles between tribes and exploring the goblin caves. Apparently Tim tried to take the body parts of one of the Rift Trolls from old Sundar Moath. I went with the group that tried to mediate between tribes, negotiated between two, fought some “adventurers” who tried to loot some orcs, then ran into another group who were being attacked by the Shaykay, Thagook is going to take a group and talk to them. Results of that, the Shaykay had their totem stolen and are being blackmailed into killing non-orcs. Apparently the goblins have a great Dagdeoth leaderwho follows a goblin god and there’s a preist with blessings that taunts other demons, protects small things. Tim made a big skeleton thing, like size 8 and it has UB manadrain. I went with the group that fought the harpies, won all 3 rounds, met a size 7 griffon with dark grey/black feathers, we gave them some food and (Jack) told the griffon a riddle, then they all gathered up and flew north, and now the griffons are friendly to us. Gobath wasn’t inn when we got back. The other shamans went to investigate the earthquakes near Cora Lod and ran into Hawk as an Egret? Some of the party went to fight the Thunderwalkers and took the skeleton thing Tim made.

17th of the 6th Moon
First thing in the morning we dealt with Darkspikes that were kidnapping shamans. Here are some of Gobath’s ramblings from when we got back, “ all around, find shaman, will protect claw mark on his forearm, he’s noticed it, bring fire to the shamans.” We decided who would take the totem and who would FINALLY fight the totem slayer. After much discussion, our totem that day was lynx.
Lynx: secrets, mystery, finding secrets, hard to get Lynx to speak, do not know about, move through time and space, knows secrets, mental pictures of what’s hidden, do not speak, just know. Abilities - Spirit Guide ( if you payed a mana) Ethereal Shift ( Totem Bearer) Oracles you have are shared with the party Flaws - Inept at speech
Some of us went to the Salmon pool, on the way we met some orcs who had been attacked by the Totem Slayer, ( Connor) and the Battle Bones went with them. We were also attacked by Darkspikes on the way. At the pool, things seemed t be clearing up, there were spectral-haunt fish in the water. I suggested we use the pool as a medium for an oracle, and in the middle of that starting we were ambushed by Darkspikes. Whatever was in the pool could see us, like scrying, and some of the party jumped in, the rest of us went ethereal and ran away. Before we were ambushed, the vision was as follows:
Fish are circling, we see a storm move across the surface of the water, building to rain, then it stops. We see parched, dry land and a hurricane. Animals are moving under the clouds, there is a shrunken water hole. A human/gorilla thing threatens other animals and displays other kinds of aggressive behavior. The animals start fighting each other, the gorilla threatens the other animals again but this time it’s using tools, it uses stone and metal to make a spark. It’s pale looking with white, iridescent fur. It looks at us and melts slightly, something is being put on it. The gorilla has armor on and is wielding a morganti sword. The spark is now a shield and sword. It’s a white knight with a purple lotus insignia. We have a feeling of falling as we look into the pool, like we’re being pulled in.
On the way back I got ambushed and assassinated by a Darkspike. While we were doing this, another group went to Old Sundar Moath to investigate the morganti storm. Oh yeah and we also DEFEATED THE TOTEM SLAYER! I wasn’t there for the battle, for obvious reasons, but they used my Pine Switch to exorcise him. The party also went out to fight some large skeletons and that went well. At the village fire that night, I had a conversation with Dreah, an orc and fellow Totem Shaman. He was with us at the pool and stepped into the vision, and he described the rest to me. He said they met dragons, that they were pulled into an oracle and they went to a place with lots of destruction and creation. There were 4-5 dragons present. He said, “ I think Red and White might be allied to Dagdeoth, Needle and Iron said so.” Dreah trusts Iron because he tried to fight the Dagdimar in Dreath’s last vision. He says the other dragons were fighting each other. White may have PD’d, and Dreah got hit with a Gold dragon breath. Gold and White were fighting but they were Dagdimar allied, kinda?
