(Account of the spell targeting justice)
Kerin Bearpaw:
It has been a strange few days, and I feel the world should know the events that transpired to cause the starless night’s elementals to be freed. Several days ago, I was approached by a strange man with morganti wounds holding a severed morganti claw that appeared to have come from a flame elemental. As a medicine man, of course, I was intrigued. When I inquired as to his business with the claw, he told me of his story. He was traveling from New Dagedmaine to Pinnacle when he was accosted by a flame elemental who had been corrupted with a morganti sickness. Luckily the man was able to best the poor elemental with minimal morganti wounds; however, I had never before heard of a morganti corrupted elemental, so I was intrigued. He told me of a vision he had when he defeated the elemental of a small puppet being dragged from place to place, killing with a morganti knife; however After a while of something comes along and tears the blade out of the puppet’s hands, stabbing the puppet with it and killing it. But the strings that held the puppet slither down and off it, before slithering away to find a new puppet.
Of course, I felt obligated to help this gentleman, and so through some magical digging, I was able to discover that it was the claw of a corrupted fire elemental that turned part wraith. I could tell that it had lines of corruption to a higher, unknown entity, and that entity is what corrupted it and gave it the morganti claw. I quickly concluded that the entity in question was none other than the combined unicorn and demon known as Law or Amruloth. Who has been known for the control and corruption of beings, specifically elementals, given the incredibly large number of elementals appearing in the Order of the Black Crescent armies.
Recognizing the importance of this, we quickly began searching for the next elemental upon which the “puppet strings” would attach. Using my connection to elementals as a compass, I was able to find the location of the newest corrupted elemental, and we flew off to attempt to find the corrupted earth elemental. Along the way, I had a vision of a figure on throne, wearing a helm with a black horn; the being was filled with rage and anger and vengeance. I thought he was sitting on the throne looking at small figures beneath him, but the figures turned out to be real people just tiny in comparison. He was looking down, considering what to do with them. Some of them are trying to move, but they can’t walk. He moved them around to see if he could find a place he liked them better. Something was swirling around him, a storm of shadowy, empty nothingness; I felt it more than I saw it. The vision shifted. I saw people marching; they looked like paladins, like but dark and twisted. I felt as though I recognized them, but I felt a feeling of loss or forgetting. The vision shifted again to a stream. There was a rare earth elemental moving along the river approaching the creek. The stream was moving naturally, but then the elemental got caught by the morganti strings, and a dark hand began moving the elemental like a puppet. It became more animal-like, predatory, and the stream started to bend unnaturally.
Soon after I had this vision, we were spotted by four of these strange suits of flying armor that appeared to be some sort of Doom Guard Knight Wraiths. However, when we began a confrontation with them, they began dealing UB deadly manadrains and UB 5 manadrains, which is not a standard ability for such undead to have. Eventually, I realized they were these strange grey doomguard knightwraiths sent by Amruloth to stop us. We were able to escape them finally and continue on our way after a few well-placed earthbinds that sent them plummeting to the ground.
Finally, I was able to find the corrupted elemental. What should have been a friendly earth elemental was a terrifying size seven monstrosity that had built this enormous obsidian bridge and diverted a stream to pass under it. I sacrificed to good elementals praying for purity; however the creature seemed to only grow stronger from it. Finally, after I attempted to reason with the elemental, it gave us several riddles to which the answers, as I remember them, were Time, Prejudice, Justice, and finally Hope. Once these riddles were over, I was able to cast a spell of the creature targeting Amruloth. The spell went: “You have been twisted, shaped together with your darkness. You kill, you corrupt, and you command minds. This is not who you really are, You have more strength then your darkness. you are valor, You are strength, you are light. We see you. We call you Justice. And you will be healed” It cost over 100 years of wither and nearly permanently killed me, but the spell went off, we felt that it had found its mark, and finally, the elementals controlled by the Starless Night were freed. I do not know how this has affected the union between Prejudice and Justice; however, I fear because of the energy it has taken to cast this spell, I may never be able to find out. I did get one last vision from Justice himself, it went as follows: "two choices rise before us where the path of many lead to a gate. many chose one or the other and find themselves lost to another fate. Some chose to be the voice of conflict and crash against the shores. Some chose to be the cry of surrender and be dragged out to sea, but these two are not the only answers. There is another, a way unseen. Not found but made, this is the door beside you." I hope this may be of use in the coming struggles, but I must conserve my energy until then. Goodbye, and good luck.
