A place to discuss missions (possible, previous, etc), trade information about what all went on, and work on solutions for ongoing problems.
Please keep conversation here mostly in-character - as in, only use information and observations that your character(s) would have access to and would share with the group at large. For now, these conversations would be taking place in a public room in the inn.

Okay so, are we aware of the curse or only Reese?

Curse?! Did we get cursed on the first day?!

I think it was only the people who went on the ancient artifact mission, and the curse doesn't apply to the rest who didn't.
EDIT: We ended up fighting vampires, battle bones, and wraiths (and other nasty undead) the first day, though. =D I guess that's the Dark City for you...

No I think it was just the people who got back from the mission.

I am not sure. Some haunts were released. This was a powerful curse that has not manifested. Also if Reese ever walks into the inn, I leave.

Would disenchanting the cursed item help? I can do that.

A thought: given the magnitude of the curse, it may not be keyed to the item alone. Consider that it's from either the 1st Age or the early 2nd Age - either way, a very, very long time ago. When you have something that's that old, and that's that powerful (to put this kind of masked curse on the party), one kind of has to suspect that there are other forces at play. What those forces are... who knows. And *also* consider that where we found the thing, there were a bunch of highly violent haunts that burst out of the ground - which also speaks to something going on beyond a simple curse. But disenchanting it is probably not the way to go, if only because the level of proficiency that you would need to do it at is probably in the multi-hundreds.
We should keep the idea of disenchanting stuff in mind for the rest of the situation, though. That could potentially be helpful at some point along the way.

I think the disenchant is divine, but I am not sure. More likely we must solve the haunts.

... Or we could also just return the items that we took back to where we found them. They were kind of excavating into unknown territory, and when it goes back as far as 1st age the chances of knowledge being lost about the area is quite high. (Personally, I think it is Chris' version of haunted Indian Burial Grounds, but we'll see. To clarify for those of you who weren't there- basically, some Sorikonian commoners were finding Ancient Artifacts (Samurai Swords, Armor, etc.), and the party went to investigate. They found out that there were these *really* nice items being dug up (mastercrafted, moving runes, etc.), and so several of these items were distributed into the party and had been dug out of the ground. After they dug at a specific point where Dev detected magic, the Haunts triggered and then that was that. The party returned, found out they were cursed, and that's where its been left off. And also- the only people who were cursed were those who went there, so if you weren't on the mission then you aren't cursed.

And to build off of Kim's point about the Item/Curse/Disenchant- that won't help any, because the curse isn't on the item. It is something more profound than that, more likely it has to do with the fact that the party desecrated the area.
My rule is the older it is the more dangerous. Good rule of thumb.

Good point about the desecration. Although were that the case, wouldn't the famers be cursed too? Might be something to check on...
And seconded/agreed on your rule of thumb. That's just kind of how it works.

I think the curse is prolly connected to the haunts. I would guess we need to solve them to deal with it. That or its related to the area itself. Either way I say it requires investigation if only to get rid of the curse...

It would probably be helpful if we could figure out what the curse is BEFORE you try to get rid of it. Fiddling with things you don't know anything about tends to be a bad idea...
