These are all by the Vecfo family.
Urun Vecfo’s Chronicles It is through much grumbling and complaining that I have been allowed to go to the city of Sashi Eten. I miss Hostor and all my friends, but it is good to get away from all the nonsense that is my family. I soon found out that there is a group of adventurers around here doing what they used to do long ago. I also found that in the shrine here my uncle’s staff was left along with his sword. I have gotten both of these and I hope they serve me well. I have decided to join this group of “heroes”. Some of them seem to be okay and some seem to be overly aggressive. I have met the student of the Lady Amara, who fought alongside my uncle. I also have seen Madrine Orange, who visited me when I was younger. I have seen much today and I am still trying to make sense of it. The militia of Sorikonia have supposedly broken some important vow, and have taken up arms. I see no problem with this other than the fact the broke a vow. Just as I cannot break my vow, they cannot break theirs. Later after trying and failing to deal with the orcs and militia. We went up the mountain and tried to help some loud complaining masters. We kind of failed and had to be rescued. Perhaps there is a good reason to join the life mages guild. During this battle I was forced to use the staff, for fighting off the undead, I must ration its use however. I did manage to repair a shattered item, proving I am not what others think I am. I wish I had done better in my training, but it will suffice. Lastly I went up to find some ancient artifact and used my senses to figure out where it was. However lots of haunts poured out and got tougher each time they were killed. I got away, because of my item. But at what cost? I arrived just in time to be cursed. I am quite nervous. I fear that the masters will not help me, for they insulted my uncle. The only one who did something note-worthy. He has helped me greatly, and I must thank my grandfather for that spell. I will spend as much time in the shrine as possible, and try to accept my situation. I have made it my goal to learn as much as possible, and in this I shall not fail.
I will repost the others later

Ahhhkay. I was wondering how your new character was related to your old ones. Jumping up and flat-out attacking Stormwing was still awesome roleplaying, by the way. =D

This is probably my worst one. That fateful night
A huge storm had reached its peak last night and rain was pouring down. Jonas the storm-mage teacher was missing and everyone was dreary. Brim was on staff, he was smoking his pipe as usual and said he had a special mission for us. Naive as we were we accepted. We were led to a place deep in the heart of the school. Brim was wearing a very fine fragile cloak. He led us in a ring around the runes on the floor. Then he called for high level heroes. They were each placed on a rune. Then the three heroes purest of heart were called forward. One was an assassin and Brim was surprised. He handed each a white dagger. He told them to hit the thing he was to summon. He withdrew a wand with blood-red runes. He instructed us to spend lots of mana, most spent two. Then it appeared, Brim was frozen he was pouring sweat, then the first dagger was thrown and the beast recoiled. A second man stepped in and hit it three times in rapid succession. The assassin threw and the beast screeched in agony. Then the man stepped in again one...two...three and the beast vanished. We returned with haste to the inn. Embarcareous burst in and wasted no time guild ordering us as to what had happened. We told him and he quickly left, almost as soon as he left Melisa came in she was holding a morganti katana. She explained to us how we had just helped exorcise Ebony. Death came for the man that hit Ebony. Igam

Tui clan tomb
As we walked into the tomb of lake clan we found a lake in the center (no duh) and were immediately attacked by a mix of skeletons and wraiths I heard a wraith pop out and charm Scarab (Reese). I attacked him and was taken out by Mong (Nick). I was then taken outside to Kaminari and removed charmed, to no effect this really scared them but Mong decided to heal me so I explained what had happened, we went back in and found that the battle was still raging on. Iron then attacked Scarab because he was charmed and I took the opportunity to attack Iron but he had damage resistance so Iron took me out after that it is a blur (forgot how he died) and then I remember being a zombie then a blinding light and once again nothing. I got back and we went into the door on the left then we felt something ethereal. It charmed Iron again and we took him out and got him removed charmed. Then Scarab attacked us because he actually was charmed and I was right. Then the wraith left. There were two ways we could go straight or right we chose straight and found the first shrine. Scarab went and flawlessly disarmed it we then walked out the other door in the shrine room we found another small room and then went into to an adjacent room to find that was where the right door in the other room led we went back into the center room and went into the next set of doors and there we found the major shrine we could tell because of the rose we explored some of the adjacent rooms and found nothing. In the next set of rooms we found a minor one and disarmed it then we looked into the last set of rooms and found nothing. Then when Scarab was disarming the major one he accidentally grabbed the black rose by the head. Then Aurora (Kim) Platinum dragon breathed what came out and the mana drain went into the shrine. We went out and spoke with the leader of Lake and he said he felt better.

Urun Vecfo - February It was a pleasant day and it started with good news. Namely that the east gate resolved itself. I was a little bit tired but mostly confused. It seemed that our planning was irrelevant. As we would find out later it is a good thing it was conceived. During the morning some things were dealt with. Thankfully we didn’t meet Shu Hui Stormwing. As usual we started with Chen Panjue, who looked different from last time. We were first sent out to mop up some “lesser” undead that were around after the storm. I brought some stuff, which I didn’t need. On the way we ran into some humans, who appeared to be bandits. We tried diplomacy and they attacked us. Needless to say we wiped them out; after all we were prepared to fight undead, not a few humans in leather. Then we found that they were the men of some people who some of the party took to be bandits. Shailar attacked them, which was strangely out of character for her. Both of them got away, being at least guildmasters. We then proceeded to go and face the undead. We didn’t crush them, instead we were flanked many times, and some people (myself included were mana-drained.) I woke up in the life mages guild, so I assume I was killed. We met with Panjue, and one Dedoric made some excellent food. We then went to do something, which I am unable to remember, and we were trashed by a group that “doesn’t like us”.
So then we got back to the inn, and no Shu Hui. Instead Tui Perry was there spazzing out as usual. He sent us to go deal with some harpies. We failed. I got away, but only just. He came back with us, and ran ahead. We then had to flee from a large collection of mid-level undead. Perry came back and healed some idiots who committed suicide. We then had to deal with the harpies ourselves, because Perry had to get back to town. We actually pulled off a victory this time and then took a break for luncheon.
Honor is a strange thing. It seems that here in Sorikonia honor is based on how rich you are. This is very strange, because it is usually the rich who cause the larger problems in society. Myself being poor I had to get my honor assessed. I did and got life mage training which was easy. They should ask about real magic. The only people who had real problems were necromancers. One idiot in particular was interested in creating vampires. Somehow he still got training. The only good reason for becoming a necromancer is to not be affected by their spells. While we were being trained, some people went and did this “Tournament of Steps”. I didn’t because we needed mages. To repay the guild for their training we went on a mission. The mission was to find some chest that a merchant had lost.
On this mission we found a chest and the chest ended up in the hands of Torald, a pyro Dwarf who is immune to fire. He refused to open it. I thought about examining the box more “carefully” with some of my “talent”. However I decided against it. This proved to be a mistake. When we returned the box to the merchant he placed it in a sanctified area. Then as we were leaving, Torald turned back to the village and the party chased after him. This concerns me deeply for Torald had done nothing wrong. The merchant offered to trade magic items, but he had none. This is also strange and I must get my amulet identified to see what is going on with it. We decided to take this merchant back to Sashi Eten. On the way on man death rayed him. Strike 2 for necromancers. We get back and some of the party is missing. The group chooses to go and hunt down the “Cultists” who captured Torald. I was considering going, but I saw that Dedoric, Kioriel, and Shailar were still in the inn.
We decided to go and pray to the ancestors. We get a vision, which I will not transcribe here. When we get back we find that the party has been killed, and that a trial went on. Strike 3 for necromancers, either leave or lay down your spells. We don’t need anymore destruction.

Urun Vecfo - March This will be a rather self-centered chronicle. For those of you that don’t care, then why are you reading this? For those that do: What’s wrong with you? Running, from tree to tree. A bag slung over shoulder. He knows he only has one chance. He can hear them chasing him. They think he is but a common thief, making off with the family item chest. He is much more. He hears the screams of defeat, and he knows he has won. He jumps onto the ship and the next morning is gone. I keep having the same dream. I know what it means, and why it comes. I know what I must do about it, but I don’t want to do it. The day started normal for me. But when I went downstairs into the meeting room of the inn, I was met by the head of Earth clan. Naturally I bowed. He spoke of this meeting we were going to have, and offered the Earth clan meeting room to us. Sitting next to Kioriel as I often do, I noticed the stiffening of her neck muscles and her nervous reaction. He had walked in carrying three flowers, and as he left he threw them at three points in the room. Now I may be both a priest and a life mage and know a thing or two about rituals, but this wasn’t one. Virtually any three points will make a triangle. Shailar didn’t share my judgment. I will admit that my first reaction was it was a ritual, but almost immediately after I knew it wasn’t. She went and read magic on one. Of course, nothing was found. It was then decided in our corner of the room that we must get the representatives elected. Having come to an agreement, we took the representatives and all who wished to vote aside, and left the party to its devices. They chose to go and deal with some bandits. We elected the representatives. They were: Kioriel, won by a landslide, Attano, and Itami. Kiai - a sharp focus of energy at the most important point in a moment. (I mean no disrespect to either Attano or Itami, but Kioriel got the most votes. Plus it makes me sound more intelligent.) This bodes well for the group and I wish them the best of luck. While we were contentedly sitting back and thinking of the meeting to come. The party was out, fighting bandits as I said earlier. Then came the arrival of a few members of the group. They looked tired and weary. Thinking that they were either sent to fetch reinforcements or bring news, I walked over. Sadly they were all that made it back. The rest of the party decided that rescuing the idiots that got killed would be a good idea. I was a little bit preoccupied, with a puzzle set to me. Thus I did not go. Upon the return of the party, I found that everything went smoothly, aside from a young man who received a head injury. He was sent to the life mages guild for a closer examination, and we later found out he was fine. At this point the meeting with the militia happened. I was not there. Suffice it to say that I had not solved this puzzle, and was now hooked on it. After the meeting Kioriel returned with a huge smile on her face, filling the room with energy. I went over to her, and found out that everything went very well. You can look to her chronicle for more details on the meeting. We took a break for luncheon. During this break I went looking for someone in particular. I had never met her, nor did I know what she looked like. I knew she was human, and capable of killing me in the blink of an eye. So of course I went and walked up to her. Aurora Nightsong, demon slayer, tomb cleaner, destroyer of filaments, and also a historian. Sadly all I would need is the historian. After speaking with her a good bit, she knew my uncle quite well I guess, the lunch break was over. I returned to the inn. It was unanimously voted to go to the Tournament of the Steps. The two champions were Attano, and (Richard). As we walked outside of town to the hill where this battle would take place, we ran into crab clan. They wanted to engage us in “honorable” combat. As always, the idiots in the party obliged. We ended up disengaging and leaving. We couldn’t afford a loss. Power is a strange thing. Control is a strange thing. Leadership is a strange thing. There are multiple ways to rule. Fear. Love. Force. Consensus. All control requires one thing, strength. Whether it is strength of heart, or strength in force. There are two ways to achieve strength. Naturally, where you just possess it, or by illusion, where you fake it. Right now we are using illusion. We weren’t able to beat crab clan into the ground, so we took out a few and left, chalking it up to them being dishonorable. We can get away with this because soon we will have the strength. Upon arrival at the location of the tournament, we were greeted by Sensei Li Tiesha. She was much less flamboyant than when I saw her on the volcano. Probably something to do with proximity to fire. She greeted us. She spoke of fire clan, and it’s aggressive nature. However, she said that fire is not just strength and aggression, but also passion and determination. She talked of how the ancestors had to fight for every inch of Sorikonia and this tournament honors that. I noticed Kioriel looking around and studying the interspersed people serving drinks her eye alighted on one man. He was missing an ear, and black fluid was oozing out of the orifice. She leapt to her feet, grabbed Shailar by the arm and shouted “run”. I was shocked, but I trusted her. I too jumped to my feet and started to run, unslinging my staff on the way. I heard cries of agony and felt the all too familiar chill of moriganti. Then I stopped. Kioriel and Shailar were still running with about half the party. Attano and (Richard) were fighting side by side, protecting the sensei. I knew then that I had to go back and help. So I ran back into the fray. Dropped a couple people and healed quite a few. There were numerous attackers, but then Kioriel and Shailar arrived with half the party. Suffice it to say that they were fought off. After the battle we found several people to be wounded, some moriganti. The maimed had attacked us. I went to Kioriel and asked her a few questions, all the while inspecting her for injuries. Luckily there were none. I also checked Shailar and Attano. None of them were wounded. For this I am thankful. Then arrived the real guards assigned to the event. Good job boys. We then settled down and unanimously voted to restart the match. This was my first experience with the Tournament of the Steps and I found it quite nice. While the tournament was happening Kioriel was talking to some girl who got moriganti hacked. Mollie or Mallie I think. The tournament then ended, rather excitedly, with (Richard) in first place. Attano came in second. Li Tiesha, then said that Attano would receive an imbue, and (Richard) would be granted one request, which had to be made now. His request was “That the martial masters create a force to defend Sorikonia.” At this the party went wild. Kioriel and Shailar were bubbling, with excitement. They were very excited at how much easier this would make it, but this seems to be a long-term solution. It will be useful, but not complete. We got back to the inn, where it was immediately decided to go and hunt down the maimed. This was a very unwise move. It provides absolutely no help to us, and all that will happen is they will be hurt. Anyway, Kioriel wanted to go and yell at Crab Clan, and some others wanted to hunt down that fey thing that was preying on caravans. As usual I sided with Kioriel. She needed a peaceful escort, and I’d like to think I fit the bill. On the way, we ran into an interesting man. Very suave and reasonable; needless to say he wrapped Shailar and Kioriel around his finger. So they went and a few of us stayed back, holding items and stuff. There was some scolding and Crab Clan went on their way. This was the end of the adventure for us. Sadly, my prediction was true. The party came back, hacked and missing limbs. Moriganti. They had ran into filaments and maimed with moriganti. Just about everyone had a limb hacked. The majority of the party was crippled. The man that invented that prosthetic limb was about to make a killing. The rest of the party clustered around them, checking them for wounds. I thought about how it would be possible to heal them, as moriganti is not impossible to heal. If only I had skill. I don’t. -Urun PS: For those of you who are wondering, I didn't steal anything.

Urun Vecfo - May I awoke in the night, to a sound that will forever haunt me. Waves, crashing against the inn. Tsunami. I should have figured that it would happen eventually, but I was caught unprepared, and dragged under. I bumped against several bodies, and then all went dark. I awoke in the life mages guild, not knowing what was going on. I thought we were under attack by the maimed, and only calmed down after reading some of my chronicles. Then, without any warning, ships appeared on the horizon. It was twilight and it seemed there was about to be an attack. I had time to run to my ruined room and grab my items (Thankfully they weren’t damaged) and then I ran down to the beach. I completed a ritual and had the circle of protection up. Just in time, the undead were on us. As I hesitantly came out of the circle, realizing how far out of my depth I was, I saw them. Two of them, vampires, they matched the description of Falconcry and Deathwish. Thankfully the undead were nothing out of the ordinary. There was a battle bones, and a couple of death knights, but it seemed manageable. The circle was used mostly to hold bodies. The vampires were proving to be a handful. Deathwish cursed a man, and he lost all will to continue. Falconcry was simply just killing people with his attacks. Aside from the vampires, we started to beat back the undead. Then, the sun came up, and they retreated to their boat. We were tempted to pursue, but the party decided to wait. I walked down the beach with the circle, following Amara and a few others. We made it to the landing point. I quickly set up the circle and saw a few of the undead getting off of the ship. I saw Gideon, with his cloak, obviously getting ready. It seemed quite fortunate that he did not die, as elves are very fragile. This next fight went rather well, although there was one vampire, Asheyes, who sent exploding undead at us. The other vampire, Lucky, was a former party member. He was so unfortunate as to be in Serpenton at the fall. Gideon dueled Asheyes, and disarmed his morganti. Other than that it was a pretty simple fight. Chen Panjue greeted us at the inn, understandably he was tired. We went through the mission list. It was almost unanimously decided that we would go and train the militia, as we promised. The first thing we would start with was disarm. Attano showed up to help. We then went off to take down some bandits who were taking advantage of the storm. It was kind of slow, as they kept tree-forming us. Eventually we made it through. We decided to further the training, and also teach knockback. The militia got their shields and we went to deal with the Temnorian Pirates. The mission was similarly easy. I had been using my grandfather’s sword, and I felt the power in it. It is a great weapon and I can easily see why he used it so much. I didn’t do much for the rest of the day. I am deeply sorry to anyone who was captured by the vampires. They supposedly fought off the Dark City, goodbye Asheyes and Falconcry (I think). Then the party decided to fight Deathwish and Lucky. Probably not the best idea, the thing that let them win was someone who had a magical shield. She wasn’t there the second time. A mission was sponsored. I had to fix the shrine. Now I go to the unpleasant task of rewriting my uncle’s journal.

Urun Vecfo - June The day was rather normal. There were no late night tsunamis or anything out of the ordinary. It had been agreed upon that we were going to go out to the site of the haunts. As such this was the first thing we did. If you wish to read about the other events of the day, look to someone else’s chronicle. We began to sail out, a group of about 15 of us. Masamoto had been kind enough to lend us his boat and accompany us out to the haunt site. Masamoto is the kind of person that fills a room and towers over things like ogres and hill giants. So we were sailing, and of course some pirates decided to ruin our fun and try to chase us. We were evading and then we realized that they weren’t going to leave us alone. As such we pretended to be sick, in hopes that they would leave us alone. It was not the smartest idea and they realized that we could not have evaded so well if we were sick. After some brief banter, and Shailar flipping her hair and blushing at them, fight broke out. Poor pirates, they picked the wrong ship. We sailed on. There were some small ships that appeared empty and we left them alone. Continuing on we arrived at the ghost ship. Gideon closed his eyes and we all saw the ship. There was a storm cloud hovering above it and a small crew working on it. I observed the crew before walking on to the ship and heading into the captain’s cabin. There were papers and such, indecipherable because of their ghostliness. So, since I was there at the ship for a long time and most of that time was spent thinking, I will give you some highlights. There were two different phases of the haunt. Phase 1 was just normal sailing and the haunt was just walking around, the crew doing various nautical things. Let it be said that “the haunt” was a WTO apprentice. The other phase was a storm, in which the apprentice put some defenses around the centerpiece of the room was a locked chest. I am told it was a ghost version of another chest which was found previously. There was a key around this apprentice’s neck, and it was this key that we so desperately needed. The chest was sanctified and when an oracle was tried it was interfered with. The apprentice would cast spells on us and such and when the cycle shifted it usually reverted. The party decided to try and sail of to find Lake Clan, as the aforementioned oracle mentioned redirection. Shailar tried to use her redirection and got incinerated. She didn’t revert at the end of the cycle. The party decided to “sail” off on Masamoto’s back. I am quite glad that I chose to try to convince Virva to summon Shailar’s body and for me to resurrect her as that group died. Kioriel, it pains me to say, almost passed on. Kioriel: If you ever feel as if you are fading, do not hesitate to ask for my priestly abilities. Anyway, two more oracles were conducted. I will speak of them as one; since I feel that I could not accurately distinguish the two. The haunt was being spoken to by some invisible dark voice. Coins were placed on the table and one arm took them into the shadows. Then there was the haunt running with some coins under his arm. There was more, but I did not experience it first hand, and am having trouble remembering it. Now, we will get to how we solved the haunt. I was quite involved in this and remember it at least. The Wizard’s Trade Order was falling and the Archmages left. They gave orders for you to take it. You did and were supposed to hold onto it until the time was right. Now the time is right. They are not here and you have to give it… At this point the haunt handed the key over and he disappeared. We stood there celebrating, and then the ship disappeared. Gideon was sleeping and woke up rather suddenly, calling on his orca to help us. We were safe and had done what we set out to do. Sailing back to Masamoto’s house, we decided to quickly sneak there and open up the box. We did this successfully and the key fit. Iraya, a priestess, was in possession of this box. It was agreed upon that one of the new heroes should be the one to open it and take what was inside. The three new heroes (Shailar had not wanted it) were myself, Leila, and Virva. Leila, being a follower of the Elder Goddess was chosen to open it. She did, and there were three crystals. The crystals were separated. None of these crystals resonated with me, which was unfortunate. Leila then grabbed the middle one, which was the Elder Goddess one, and disappeared. Somehow, Torald arrived (quite possibly because of lack of security.) and he felt a connection with the left one, so he grabbed it. He also disappeared. We were trying to figure out who should take the last one, and we eventually settled on Itami. Someone was sent to look for him, and someone else came and said that there was some battle going on and that they were in need of help. I did not go. I did not feel that I would as valuable there as here. So I stayed. Anyway, Torald appeared again, he had sort of a blue aura around him. He described how he had answered a riddle and it had given him this. Leaving the group to do some more missions, there was nothing more to be done, I returned to the inn. It was voted to go and investigate the spinemen that were odd. They were very sharp and dealing extra damage. We found a few and were surprised that they were dealing natural damage. Then we ran into some people, I don’t really remember. Now, here is where the bad things begin. There was a broken shrine. I could not tell to what deity. Apparently Amara and Aurora had seen these things before. Some idiot walked over the shrine and disappeared. Okay, look, even if that were a perfectly normal shrine, you still do not want to do that. Aurora decided that she would go in after him. Amara anchored her and she went in. She came out with no memory of the place and with the idiot in tow. Then she asked for a pen, and went back in. This time to draw what she saw, she did, and it was not a nice place. The Shadowlands, I am told. After getting a few different angles of what it looked like, I guess we attracted attention. Some sort of creatures came and attacked us; their swords were able to infect us with something quite undesirable. I saw Torald get hit and swore, as he was the only one with the magical blessing. Apparently Aurora interpreted this as my reaction at getting hit and took me down. I was then carried away and healed. I ran back and found that Torald was fine and the sword had missed him. The battle ended soon after. Aurora then told everyone to leave as she was going to go and invoke some names. I don’t know what happened to her. This encounter was easy compared to the things to come.

Urun Vecfo – Campout Days 1 & 2 Alright, look, I am a human. I am not invincible. I may not be fragile like the elves, but I am not invincible. Especially to lightning, it tends to kill people. Unfortunately it killed me. More importantly, it sent me to the goddess. (No not the Elder Goddess, ugh.) I lost a lot of my priest skills and finally felt the evil presence that has been messing with me. It continues to mess with me. So I arrived in the new inn and ran into some adventurers who said they had found a lightning elemental. Since I have magical weapons I decided to go and fight it. I was told that it had a cascade attack, as well as various elder sorcery. Leaving something like that unchecked would be quite dangerous. We ran into some nasty haunts along the way, they were eventually solved by other people. Eventually we caught up with it and approached carefully, trying to avoid its attacks. I was using a basic elder sorcery to strike with medicine ball, and healing my allies wasn’t too hard. Eventually I got a few hits in, but it paralyzed me and then chased the party away. When the party returned, they had someone rebirth me and then the elemental tore a hole away into its plane. When I got back I found a note on the mission board. I will not repeat it here, for the sake of keeping this short. However, there was a line in the note that told us to look for papers in the trees. Soon after, people began bringing in notes, and I set myself to looking at them. There were a few other people, but I am unsure of whom. There was only one paper we found that had some invisible ink. I am still looking at these notes, but they need not be transcribed here. Soon evening turned to night and we headed into town. Some patrols were organized, but I will talk of that later. I first headed into town, where there was a minstrel from Hostor performing, I listened to her songs, and watched as many martial masters came through. She was quite good and Amara slipped in well. After listening for a while I realized that I should probably go and help a patrol. I got to the gates just in time. I looked around and found that the Delta patrol group was lacking a life mage, and a way to deal magic damage. As we began our route with an elf named Mel in the lead, we mostly saw the other parties and a few minor undead. I am not very good at writing about combat, and my words would not convey the emotion that we were feeling that night. I will say a few things, that I cannot wait until I am able to avoid being charmed. I will also say that I have a deeper understanding of why undead are so very effective at night. It has nothing to do with vampires burning or undead seeing better. When I returned from the patrol, I went into the inn and stared at the papers. Marion Sparrowsong came and joined me. I spoke to her a bit and she seemed to know what she was talking about. We talked a bit of names and other things. As well as a minstrel, she was a very accomplished historian and storyteller. Day 2 Li Tiesha and Chen Panjue are still missing. I went to fight the Grim. I was with many of the people my uncle adventured with. I had both pacifism and spell strike activated and had my ring of Spirit Guide. It is quite nice to have pacifism, and I found it worked well with Amara’s teaching. I would simply disarm undead, rendering them quite useless and leaving them for others to take care of. We completely halted the Grim’s advance and pushed right up to them. This was about it aside from when they sent the sick at us and Aurora, Scarab, and myself became infected. It was a simple disease, merely designed to try to halt our progress. This was about as eventful as the battle got. Meanwhile, people were going after Li Tiesha. They found some papers, and I was looking at them with Shailar and Kioriel, when Shailar exclaimed “Jade!”. On the paper, there were several things mentioning Lion and Heron clan as being very involved in the Shadowlands. There was the word “Jade” at the end of one line. The next word was “wound”. I was the most skeptic of all of us, that is, until Kioriel pointed out that veterans had the ability to have their armor take a wound instead of them. This was not correct, but it did convince me. We then immediately requested that for the favor we were offered (We turned in a bunch of morganti from the grim.) that we would have it be jade. Sun Fone brought us a small bag, she explained that this was all of the loose jade in Sorikonia. Attano, who claimed to have taken 8 separate hits in the Shadowlands, took a piece of jade and cut his arm open and stuck it inside. He seemed to slowly regenerate and soon the jade was gone and he seemed cleansed. Also Shailar had taken several infects and needed to be “jaded” as I will call it from here. I took the piece of jade and with one hand placed it on her, the other hand I cast medicine ball through. It went into the jade and cleansed her, the jade being used up in the process. A note to all who become tainted by the Shadowlands: I believe we are setting the unsafe level at 7 infects and by that point you should seek out either a Paladin, or a Life Mage like myself. A message had been intercepted the day before, several people were working on it and they said that they had parts of it done. Anyway, the south side of the island was reporting an invasion. As of late we had been ignoring them and they had reported minor problems. Shortly after the sun set we set out. Along the way we ran into a dwarf, he was unknown to me and I was quite suspicious. Turns out, he was a vampire. He grabbed the fey and tried to run off, however I believe that the party recovered him. Upon arrival at the village we found that the villagers were quite, shall I say… disturbed. I then went and found Shailar, and she told me that Torald was missing. I mean no offense to Torald, but he seems to need to be rescued a lot. Then again, my uncle was captured 6 separate times by undead, all in the space of five days. So, Attano and someone else went and retrieved Torald. He was retrieved and seemed shaken. As usual he and Attano were arguing, and it turns combative. Okay, look, I will not get between them, so long as they do not attempt to hurt anyone else. Now we heard the zombies coming up the hill. We dealt with them. The End. As mentioned before, I do not write about combat well. Upon my eventual return, I explained to some people what we did, and they shared with me what they decoded.

Day 3 Gideon and Amara are missing, as is Chen Panjue. The fact that both Gideon and Amara are missing is less concerning than if just one of them were missing, as married couples do tend to spend a lot of time together. Still with the threat of the shadowlands there could be a lot of much worse scenarios. If this fate has befallen them, then hopefully they are together, and that they get through this nightmare. In other news, Tui Ripentot came into the inn this morning while Sun Fone’ was explaining some things to us. Of course I bowed to him, bowing is one of my favorite parts of Sorikonia, because of the amount of knowledge you can gain from how someone bows. Sadly, many people did not and he left almost immediately. Party, I am disappointed in you. It was felt that we had done things we should not have done by the peasants on the south. So to make it up to them we went down and helped them replant and negotiated with some goblins. Scarab who was there, was talking and apparently offended a goblin, who threatened to make him into a soup. I then had to restrain the angry dwarf. It was made easier by the fact that he has, what I will call: Embarcarious complex. Those of you who know Lord Embarcarious will understand. With the morning over, there were some other missions done, but not by me. We decided to return to the grind of fighting grim. We were close to pushing them back, and some force was to be expected. Guess what, there were three Carakwaiths there. First we ran into a hobbit on a perky. Lucky, we all ran and decided to regroup, as these were major Carakwaiths. When we returned from two sides, we saw lucky, or rather lucky’s torso and his head was a few feet away. The wound was black and was obviously morganti. Remembering some of my uncles logs, I knew that Lucky was a ranger and able to avoid things like this. So I reached the obvious conclusion and thought that it wasn’t actually him. Anyway, there was another vampire, Shadow, who was running through the field, when he got hit with an elder sorcery ray and burned to a pile of ash. Unfortunately it unforged his sword and the wraith that came out killed his spirit. Scarab went to duel the wraith and killed it. Since I had pacifism on, I had no fear of the filament, but more of the silver gear I had on. After the two Carakwaiths had been killed, the rest of the battle was fairly simple. However, the final one got away. Upon deciding that we needed to rescue Chen Panjue immediately, for Li Tiesha was already in bad condition yesterday, and who knew how bad he would be. Tui Ripentot met us again, and Amara and Gideon returned from where they were. Sensei Ripentot wanted us to go rescue Chen Panjue and so we did. He provided me with some fine items that slipped over my fingers, to damage undead with. When we got to the secret Thunder Shrine, we were met by a lake clan member. He said that he had to remove several people for interrogation. This was very suspicious as he started with Scarab and Aurora. It seemed that we were disarmed. He listed a few more names and gave everyone else the choice to go. I did not, I believed that rescuing Chen Panjue was more important. After all, someone had to do it. It was successful. Chen Panjue has returned to Sorikonia. I am not sure how wise my decision is, but it is done. We then went to deal with the landing Temnorians and tried to figure out which ones were Temnorians, and which ones were just Sorikonians. This was made quite difficult by the fact that there were ghouls that were killing us. This was partially dealt with. We will have to worry about it later. So eventually I got back to town and went on a patrol. It was very short, but very terrifying. As we walked down the path, we saw a creature. I have been scared in my life and have had much experience with morganti. This one creature has topped all of that. It was like a frog. It was fat, but seemed that its bones were too small and there were just rolls of skin in some places and it was stretched tight in others. It had some sort of orb, and it was very magical. I then watched it fade away. We proceeded along the rest of the patrol with no other obstacles. Day 4 DeathWish and his grim are albeit dead. This chronicle is getting very long and I need to end it soon. As such I will only describe the final battle with DeathWish. We had finally broken through the massive lines of Grim and we had pushed the undead back to the shore. It seemed that Estorock was helping us by shooting their spell cannons onto the land. The Silver Service was also on the coast helping us. This was the vampires’ last chance, were they to lose here then they would have to pull out of Sorikonia. The first wave of undead was small and weak compared to what we had just gotten out of. It was dealt with easily. Masamoto was with us, and he told us that he was going to kill himself and leave his body to go and fight in the ethereal plane. My personal plan was to use my martial arts abilities and try to evade mana drains. The battle was going smoothly, Masamoto had taken down one vampire and was using its Morganti weapon to battle DeathWish. However, DeathWish then cast a spell on him and he seemed to change sides. Luckily, he could not return to this plane. Aside from a few people getting disarmed and snared by the Carakwaith there were no real losses yet. There is a man in our party who is solely responsible for our success. He wields a blade that crackles with purple energy. He ran up to this vampire and swung this blade and simply cut the pacifism right off of him. DeathWish was clearly surprised by this, and it basically caused the full retreat. I can only hope that he gets intercepted.

Urun Vecfo July I deserve to be impaled on a stake and thrown back into morganti hell. I deserve many slow painful deaths. At the very least I deserve morganti pain. At this point most people would have stopped reading, you should follow them... The day started with the shadowlands pike. The master that tried to disenchant it had disappeared. A small group consisting of Torald, Orson?, myself and a few others went to find out what happened. We investigated the room. Everything seemed normal. Torald then took a piece of jade and tried to channel his blue energy through it. I believe this took us to the shadowlands. We returned with the pike and a shadowlands blade. The master seems to have vanished. We then went and took these to Sun Fonè. While they were being identified I went and found Lion clan. I asked him if he had heard anything about destroying shadowlands items. He said that they usually did it at shrines. I don't think that this is the best idea, but maybe worth trying. The Temnorian landing parties were not dealt with completely, due to some ghouls. As such, we had to now deal with pirates who had infiltrated towns. It was simple, and we accomplished it with minimal bloodshed. There were historians in town, and I needed to speak with them. I asked many questions about Tui Ammoni, and most were answered. It seems that I require information, which many do not want to reveal. Tui Ammoni closed the rifts by fighting them. So it seems that we need to do this, if we want to prevent things like this morning from happening. I spent a good amount of time on this, it does take a while to obtain information. After my historianing sessions, I returned to the inn. As we were voting on things, the minstrel, Marrion Sparrowsong came in. She said that she had vital information, that needed to be told now. So I went with her, along with a few others. She said some things about the cracks and Dagdeoth. She helped to fill in a lot of the blanks I had. However, she still raised more questions than answers. The end of the day was drawing near, but I had one more thing to do. I took Torald and Kioriel to an ancestor shrine. I explained what we were going to do. Before doing anything, I checked the shrine we were at for rifts. I even jumped over it. I explained that we were going to meditate. Kioriel hesitated, but did not say anything. If I had listened... We awoke in a grayish place, seemingly infinite, there were black figures approaching us. There seemed to be an infinite number of them, they were morganti wraiths. We split up, trying to avoid them. Torald stopped and spent all of his mana, dieing right in front of us. I kept running, losing track of Kioriel. I stopped, deciding that I would try to kill myself without mana loss. I didn’t work. I felt no evil presence or anything, so I sacrificed all my mana. Kioriel said that she heard some broken up lines of prophecy. I made an almost fatal error. I almost killed my friends. I... (Apologies for the shortness and lateness of this, I have been quite busy.)

Love your chronicle Dev! Excellent perspective taking and nice short summaries. I hope you realize that though it is great to chronicle for others, we ultimately chronicle for ourselves because in doing so we learn so much more about our own character as well as creating a record of that characters inner monologue. So do not Worley about those who read your great chronicles, because the one that matters the most is you. I love the part about the lightning... Probably my favorite. Looking forward to hearing about Campout #2

(This is well overdue, and I know it, but I wanted to make sure that I included most everything we did at the campout. There was a lot of information thrown at us. It is quite long, but be grateful I did not transcribe the narration of Artano. Enjoy. P.S. It's 2700 words, so I put it in a spoiler.) Urun Vecfo July Campout A dwarf in the party has sponsored a mission. There are many things happening, and I am not sure what we are going to do. He said that he wanted to help these people with the problems that they are having at their shrines. Naturally I went, there were some reports of haunts and I wanted to help. We were walking to one of the shrines, and we found a bunch of the goblins that we assume are from the shadowlands. I knocked a few out, and disarmed some others. The party was less humane. Proceeding up the hill, we saw some ogres, who wanted us to keep out of their territory, we did, and problems did not arise, yet. Coming into a clearing, I saw half of a fire spirit in the ethereal realm. I thought about some awful possibilities, and then I saw, Shailar, wondering at my expression. I handed her my ring, and went over to a dead party member. There was an undead beast with an animal head, I don’t remember what. It swung at me with a spear, I simply let it bounce of off me, and then it tried to mana drain me. It hit me once, and I backed up, drawing my sword. Unfortunately, the sword is silver, and it didn’t try to mana drain me again, so I didn’t have the chance to give it a taste of its own medicine.
I went for Attano, as he has warded weapons and other ways of damaging undead. He came back down with me and fought the undead until it was dead on the ground. Apparently they have regeneration, as in a short while it was back up, hitting me for mana drain, again. I then chased after it, at the very least intimidating it with my sword. Eventually we dealt with it, by treeforming it. I think that the tree was burned later. I went back up to Shailar, and she gave me back my ring. She was holding a piece of paper. The fire spirit was gone. She said that she spoke with it briefly, and then it disappeared. The ogres were getting riled up about something, I have no clue what. A martial master in training came up to Shailar and myself and told us that he needed help at the shrine, with haunts. We ran, picking up Attano and (insert name of Ray’s character here) along the way, and came upon a heaven shrine.
We approached the shrine, rest of the party on our heels. I saw a line of spirits, moving around the shrine. I walked up to them, and they stopped. Starting with the obvious, I said, “Chien” and the lead one handed me a paper, similar to Shailar’s. I took it and examined it briefly, before handing it to Shailar to see if they fit together in any way. While she was checking it the paper started to fade. I quickly grabbed it back from her, and the letters reappeared. There was another one of the the animal-headed undead at the edge of the boundary of the shrine. I had realized that damaging it was suicide, and so I went up to it and intimidated it with my sword. While doing so, someone snuck up behind it and killed it. We moved on.
Coming up to the crest of a hill, I saw several spirits standing in a circle, all with boulders. They were unable to be interacted with, though I think they were visible. I stepped up to them, saying Ken, quite clearly, several others tried, all to no avail. The spirits were throwing boulders, and since they weren’t intending to hit us, they did natural damage, and I went down several times. Eventually I unsheathed my sword and attempted to deflect several of the boulders. The spirits who were throwing these boulders started to pick up speed, and the next person hit, was killed on the spot. I went over to her and carried her out of the way of the boulders, all the while deflecting them. We were still trying to figure out how we were going to obtain the paper from these spirits. Attano then jumped into the center of them screaming, “Are you the ancestors of Ken?” several boulders hit him as he got the piece of paper. We began to head back to the inn.
I have also sponsored a mission, and to start it I put on a magical amulet and tried to see if Isis would give me an oracle. She did, and it was very clear. I see no need to repeat it here. I decided that it was important to go out and get the rest of the papers. As we set out, we were confronted by a man who claimed that we were going to be intercepted on our way to these shrines. After listening to him go on and on as the rest of the party interrogated him, I ran off towards the Air shrine, I was followed by two other members of the party, and I was confident in my ability to deal with anything there.
We arrived, party close on our heels, and saw that we had managed to evade those who would stop us. After some deliberation, Virva was handed Torald’s sword, and she went and got the paper. I then created a route in my head, such that we wouldn’t follow any meaningful route. I evaded most of our pursuers, with only a little trouble that was easily dealt with. We went around to the Tui, K’an, Sun, and avoided the Earth shrine. These papers were obtained by Virva, Torald and Oliver. Upon our return, I was presented with a gift from the masters. It was a staff, surmounted by a Tyet. They also offered to enchant it, but I chose to do this myself. After a short dinner, I headed into town, while most of the party went to go and find the last couple of papers. I did not have any wish to fight anything more, and as such, I stayed in town and looked at various papers and other things. There was some sort of goblin that spoke common, and he was constantly annoying people with swords. I healed him several times.
At one point I went out on a patrol, and had to defend the small party I was with against several wraiths. We were forced to run, since we couldn’t fight them. We left someone behind, but I think he was rescued later.
Later, a historian in town read some of Artano’s Footnote, which had apparently been added to by some Historian from Hostor. I do not necessarily agree with what Artano says, and he has much bias, but there is a grain of truth in everything.
Day 2 I awoke seventeen minutes before dawn, as I often do. I needed to enchant my staff, and I needed it done quickly. I went and obtained the supply of white cloth and a few wands and candles from the shrine, and I went out to the edge of town, where I enchanted it. There is no need for a transcription of my ritual. After doing so, I headed back to the inn for breakfast. Having finished breakfast, I watched as the party left and returned in their full armor and weaponry. We were met by Sun Fone. She told us of a few problems that were going on, and it was decided to. There are dead rangers appearing in the streets, and there seems to be some sort of plot going on. The party went to deal with this, and I stayed behind to attend to some more business. The party returned, but they seemed to be missing a few people, apparently having people taken for questioning. This does not bode well.
The party seems intent on doing meaningless things. They went looking for random caves to explore. Considering that we are being dragged into the shadowlands ever quicker, this is a foolish and quite possibly deadly choice. They might have found something interesting, but the method of doing so was very poor. Now I went out with the party, eager to try out my new staff. We were going to deal with the ranger situation. After a bit of my walking around, we were told to clear the road, as some ‘nobles’ were coming through. The procession was stopped by Aurora, and she had a peacekeeper check them, but they were a little late. The person in the center pulled out morganti, and the square erupted in battle. I was really unsure of what was going on, so I calmed down, and began rebirthing dead guards. It was going well, the guy with morganti was removed from battle. I was healing people, when I was attacked by a Martial Master. He was charmed, and I wasted no time in subduing him and getting him out. The masters are very important, and we cannot afford to lose them to vampires.
Apparently the situation was worse than it seemed, and we had to quarantine a section of the city. At this time I left to go do some things. They were not completed until much later. I was preoccupied and did not end up going out this night, but I was told of the two missions that went down. The first being trying to eradicate the vampires in the city, which failed horribly. The second was going into the shadowlands and rescuing Heron and Lion clan. We lost a couple of party members, and this is unfortunate. However, we gained a large amount of troops that are great at dealing with shadowlands.
I have gained something, a gift. It stems from my staff, and allows me to cure many different things. I will use this to help eradicate the taint that has fallen on our party. Hopefully it does not have too many negative repercussions, but I fear that it does.
Day 3 Much of the party that went out last night to deal with the vampires are missing. As such, Li Tiesha showed up in the inn, looking quite tired, but coursing with energy. She was wearing a golden amulet, which I found interesting, as it wasn’t part of her usual attire. She gave us the simple choice to go and rescue our friends. Of course I went to go do this.
The battle was relatively straightforward, but the vampires kept mana draining me without killing me. Upon seeing Aurora charmed and cutting through our ranks of pacifists with her warded blade, I rushed at her, nailing her in the stomach with my staff and stripping away all traces of the charm and the infected bite she had taken. I continued to use this, until we had rescued all of our friends and killed most of the vampires. However, they mana drained me down below where I usually pass out. This caused me to go insane, temporarily.
Immediately afterward, the party went out to the shadowlands with Lion and Heron clan. Many things happened in there, and I will let you read them from a firsthand source. Many people did not return. Torald, Iraya, Mel, Itami, (Other people that I don’t remember your character’s names, sorry >.<). Attano returned with his sword shattered from something in there. I took it and repaired it for him, but Shailar’s was too far gone to restore. We took a break for luncheon, and when we returned, the lack of mana had caught up to me. I was afraid of things being spoken to me.
I was later told that the party decided to send people to Estorock to find out more about the shadowlands. Meanwhile, the party went out to deal with some Temnorians. I went with Kioriel, Shailar, and Attano to speak with a few of the masters. My head was wrapped in cloth so that I would not be intimidated by anyone, and I went with them. I didn’t hear anything, but things were transcribed, and secrets were discussed. I do not wish to reveal them, on the chance that we succeed in saving this place. In any case, we have a plan to go to the Tomb of the Clanless Sensei. I will rest and wait in the inn until we do so. I was told that another group went out to deal with the pirates again, to no avail. Another mission was launched to go and deal with the villagers being attacked by shadowlands creatures. This was dealt with. The Temnorians are still an issue. Along the way to the tomb, we ran into some weird apparitions. I went to the side with Kioriel, Shailar, and Attano. We snuck past the wraiths and waited for the party. When they arrived, we approached the tomb. There was a procession of candles. At this point I spent the mana in my belt, and removed the cloth from my head. I then cleansed myself, and was able to try to interact with the spirit. Nothing happened.
We arrived at a wall. I walked through, dragging Kioriel through with me. We came out into the tomb, where there were glowing lights and such. There were several morganti wraiths, and even more filaments. Luckily the filaments were glowing and we could see them. Unfortunately I moved through the field instead of going on the side, I ended up going toe to toe with a few wraiths. I cleansed one, and it turned back to a filament, but my staff seemed to almost be destroyed. As such the next wraith succeeded in knocking me out.
I remember it all. The blinding pain as the tightened fist struck the back of my head. Falling down and triggering a few more wraiths. Thankfully the wound switched to my spirit, which is not ideal, but it leaves me capable.
What follows is what I have heard from Kioriel, Shailar, and Virva regarding what was at the end of the hall.
There was a skull, similar to one seen in the shadowlands. It had a mana draining aura, that was morganti. There was a jade orb, with dragons carved into it, it was near the skull. (Ray’s character) came up and stabbed the skull with jade, taking a mana drain. Virva got this orb, which seemed to be able to slow mana drains around it. Apparently when she picked up the orb, she felt people pass on. Torald, Itami, Mel, Iraya, and many others. Virva has the ability to gain the blessings of dead party members, so she now has many more abilities.
It is very unfortunate of the loss of these fine individuals. They fought honorably, and they died honorably.
Day 4 I awoke. My soul and body flipped. I am once again functional. The party went out to deal with the Temnorians. We assembled all of the people with papers from the shrines, and we went down to the library, and we worked on it. The decoding process took a while, but the information was well worth it. It seems that many bad things have been set in motion, and that the very core of Sorikonia has been tainted. I will not repeat what was written on that paper, out of respect. The page was written in jade ink, which I find quite curious. It gives some indication to the shadowlands, but also to a cure.
We read this paper to the masters, and something strange seemed to happen. They seemed to be energized by it, and they seemed more capable, if only for a little while.
We now have split into two groups, to go and search for some swords, which may be this island’s salvation. One group went with Chen Borisan to the thunder shrine, the other went to the lake shrine with Tui Ripentot. I was part of the lake group. We obtained a sword, Tui Onosashi. The thunder group also obtained a sword which was called Chen Natasha. I see no need to write about the obtainment of these items, as it was simply combative. There was nothing particularly special about it.
We gave these items to the masters of their respective clans. These blades are important. We must now find the last one. With this, I must end this chronicle, it grows long, and I grow tired. We have much to do, and little time to do it, if we are to save this noble place.
