History stuff for Jitha.
Many years in the past before humankind had a notable presence, the elves had a large kingdom and within it were several varieties. The noble High Elf: rich in heritage and thought to be the purest of elves. Wood Elves: a fair race that tends to enjoy secluded lives in the forests they tend away from cities and their politics. They enjoy a simpler life living off the land. The Takari Elves: a darker skinned, sun worshipping society that lives in cave like dwellings built into the red rock mountains. The Mountain Elves: known to be one with the sky, they raised large birds and other creatures adapted to flight as a reminder of where they came from. The Coastal Elves: thought to decedents of true merfolk, they loved the fresh sea air and fishing until their last days. And the Timber Elves: a lost race, they were small, quick, and strong. They had strong bonds with family and animals. It was suspected that they perished during the war of lumber and ore. They did leave one thing behind. Gnomes, thought to be kin of a timber elf and fae, are now all that is left of the wild timber elves. During the war of lumber and ore, each family of elves wanted to take different actions. The Takari elves merely wanted to hold up in the red rock mountains and find a way to make peace with the dwarves. The mountain elves wanted to take everything the dwarves had and leave them nothing, let them waste away under hollow mountains. The coastal elves cared neither for the war nor the outcome. Most of their wood came from the sea and they used stone and coral rather than metal. The wood and high elves had a similar outlook. The war was inevitable in their eyes, but needed to end as early as possible. This meant using forbidden magics. They set up an elder sorcery spell woven together with rune magic by their ancient spell weavers. This caused the entire mountain to collapse in on itself, crushing most of the dwarven empire. The cost of most rune magics had never been seen until a spell of this magnitude was unleashed. It withered much of the elves forests, and the elves along with them, creating a ghost kingdom. Great cities and forests were left barren of life. The trees still grew, but only haunts tended them now. It is this spell that is thought to have erased the timber elves. The Dwarven Empire was nothing compared to the Elven Kingdom in size, but they once had a huge network of underground tunnels that have since been lost to them, due to the occupation of the Gruumskin. Before the War of Timber and Ore, the dwarves encountered the primitive humans. They began using them as labor, but due to their size and primitive nature, the dwarves quickly realized that hobbits were much better suited for their needs. The humans were released and the hobbits began working for the dwarves in their mines. Hobbits were considered to a have very strong work ethic, and can get into many places dwarves can’t, or won’t for that matter. This is when they discovered what would lead to the war of timber and ore. The hobbits came upon a large chamber, deep in the mines. They said it was full of elves, with dark skin and pale hair. The story goes that these elves had red eyes and even kept some dwarves as slaves. Theses dwarves were horribly deformed and clearly tortured. The Dwarven Empress, Garnet Harkul, instructed the miners to seal the tunnels leading to this place, for it was the place of an old evil. She then gave order to the army to begin preparations to march on the elven territories. She believed that the Elven kingdom had awoken the old evil below her empire to weaken them and force them to trade their ore for safety. The Empress sent a messenger to the Council of Elves, demanding shipments of silver wood to her empire by the end of the year as an apology for the crimes they have committed. The elves took this as an insult, knowing they had not commited any crimes against the dwarves. They in turn demanded that a large portion of this year’s ore should be donated to the Elven Kingdom for falsely accusing them of criminal actions. This led to many threats between both sides, until both decided to march their armies. The war lasted nearly 80 years. Nearing the end, Empress Garnet Harkul was succeeded by her granddaughter, Sapphire Harkul. Empress Sapphire, only being 170 years of age at the crowning ceremony, looked for an end to the war. She met in private with the Wood elven and Takari elven council members. They came to an agreement that all this was over a misunderstanding and had caused to much bloodshed. They decided that the two sides could share the silver wood and the ore between them in an attempt to bring peace to their peoples. When the elves returned with this treaty to the council, there was a betrayal felt by the other council members, and, after some discussion, the elven kingdoms began to separate. The last action taken by a coalition of the elves was the rune woven spell to destroy the dwarves. When Sapphire returned with this knowledge, she became excommunicated by her brother, Elder Mithias Harkul of the Earth, the leader of the church. Sapphire fled, never to be seen again. Elder Mithias Harkul of the Earth moved his people to a refuge away from the mountain after having an oracle about a great catastrophe. Those still loyal to Sapphire stayed in their home and were obliterated by the rune woven spell. That one spell that destroyed most of the elven kingdom, destroyed nearly all of the Dwarven Empire, and released the old evil below the mountains. Elder Mithias Harkul led the remaining dwarves for several more decades and is the main reason why the Dwarven Empire is now a theocracy. Many years passed before the elven or dwarven peoples really recovered from the war. This opened up a power vacuum, allowing the humans to begin to rise to power. There were many small groups of humans that roamed the lands of Jitha. One settled at the edge of the deserts along the Salvation River. This became a beacon to most the other human settlements, and they began flocking to it in great numbers. The settlement grew very quickly. In most situations this would have spelled demise for such a young civilization, but, with the combination of rich farmland, bits of culture left over from contact with elves and dwarves, and that little something humans actually bring to the table, the City of Arhamari was founded. Arhamari Arhamir, the first ruler of the city, was lifted up by his people and made king. He reached out to the displaced elves and dwarves and gave them refuge in exchange for knowledge, work, and peace. This was how the city grew into a Kingdom. Several generations down the line, King Jordan Arhamir, The great great grandson of the still living King Arhamari Arhimir, announced, in coordination with the Dwarven Empire, The Wood Elves, Takari Elves, Coastal Elves, and the other lesser bestial races at the time, the formation one Kingdom: The Kingdom of Jitha. After this announcement, the former King Arhamari Arhamir passed away at the age of 208. This was a great time when many advances in magic were taking place. It was discovered that the realm in which Jitha resides is a kind of planer hub, a crossroad. This was confirmed when a large group of Inoxians showed up claiming to be from a very different world. King Jordan welcomed them into the kingdom, but, as they were bestial, they were amongst the other lesser races. This kind of segregation went on for several more generations. It wasn’t until King Taylor the Young, crowned at the age of 14, that equal rights were given to the bestial races. King Taylor declared that they were to be treated just as any humanoid race. This covered anything from, Inoxian, Apidaen, Cobben, Centaur, to Takari Orks. His reign was one of the shortest of his line, as he took ill at age 18 and passed on shortly after his twentieth birthday. Several more generations passed before Porta Vista was discovered; founded by a group of people from a land known as Crestfall. They became part of Jitha under King Kalador, the twenty-first decedent of the first king. Kalador welcomed the Crestfallen people and they integrated very smoothly into the Kingdoms of Jitha. Attacks from the north by goblinoids have recently become more and more common. It seems that they have become more organized as well. Something other than ogres and trolls are suspected to be leading them. This became most apparent after the assassination of King Kalador, committed with a Runewoven Morganti blade. A dark troll not only managed to acquire one, but was able to sneak into the palace, past the guards, and kill the King and his pregnant wife. This marked the first time in over twenty generations that an Arhamir did not rule the Kingdoms of Jitha. It was a quarter of a decade before a new ruler sat upon the throne. A young man by the name Delroy was elected King by a committee of guild masters, nobles, and commoners. He is to rule as King until death or until the committee can locate a true heir of the line of Arhamir to sit upon the throne.

Jitha timejump stuff
Just a few weeks ago during a raid by Gruumskin several people died. Amongst them a young elven boy by the name Naraar Tellana. He was son to a historian and carpenter. He tended to take after his mother and wrote in journals and diaries. This was with him when he passed.
Dear diary,
Twenty-eight years passed since we arrived here at this glorified refugee camp. When we arrived the city was pretty nice with its cooling mists when it got to hot and the enchanted wands in every building to control the temperature. We felt safe with the magical walls. Porta Vista was a fortified haven. Then more and more people came through the portal. All of the new arrivals claiming they were promised homes, land, and a life like one from before. Don’t these people get it? We are alive. The Garuda are back there and we aren’t. We are the lucky ones. Who knows if anyone that stayed is still alive, or worse, enslaved to the Garuda? I heard murmurs of adventurers saying they were going to look for something called Naga to kill the Garuda. But that sure changed. Most of them either left looking for love, money, or just a nice place to call home. I still feel bad for the Shifters, the whales that guarded our boats on our passage through the whirlpool. Yeah, they were actually an ancient clan of Shifters. Like a were-creature and a shaman on steroids. Now all they do is sing their whale songs and play their instruments. I cry every time I hear the music; so full of sadness, regret, homesickness, and general loss. I mean we didn’t know back then if it was possible to go back. Now we know it’s possible, unlikely, but possible. They still sing to this day. I heard they even taught a few people how to cast spells with music. Shinaris, the former leader of this city, once mastered a form of this known as rune singing, but these people call themselves bards. They may even get a guild one of these days. Since I brought up Shinaris, I met him once, a pretty cool old dude. He passed away and then Totsi took over. Everyone thought that Lady Ebonbract would have taken over, but she became very ill shortly after Shinaris passed away and wasn’t able to. Totsi is doing an okay job but there are just so many people and the desert is so hot. We found out that they call this place Jitha, still weird to me not saying Crestfall, or just home for that matter. They say this place is nearly as large if not bigger than that other foreign land, what they called it…Roekron. They say Crestfall is a different realm. I don’t know. Something about dragon’s home realm or some dragon deity created a realm for his kin to live. The people here in Jitha, some not all of but some, worship certain dragons like gods. I swear I’ve met some of the people they say are ‘gods’ but to be polite I just nod my head and move on. So the new king is the first not from the same lineage as the first human king. I don’t really care but some people are getting all uppity about it. His name is Carmine Delroy. He seems like a cool guy. He has given anyone from Crestfall the same rights as any of his own people. He has made us technically Jithian. It’s kinda nice but now we are kinda being asked to help with their problems. Then again they are kinda our problems now too. Out here in Porta Vista it’s not too bad cause any “Gruumskin,” that’s what the locals call monsters, I don’t know why really. Out here any ‘Gruumskin’ have to cross the desert. They have been more and more aggressive and organized people are beginning to talk about a dark sorcerer or necromancer or even demonic involvement. Now back home, necromancers were as common as… well, as common as a kobold defecating indoors. Out here practice of necromancy is outlawed. They have a similar class they call warlocks. I dunno, they sound kinda strong but nothing compared to our necromancers. Lord Delroy did work out an agreement with crestfallen necromancers: as long as they never use their magic on true citizens of Jitha then they can be amongst the people. They aren’t really able to learn new spells and stuff cause no one trains necromancy, at least not in the open. In Porta Vista it’s allowed but not sure for how much longer. There is a training you can go through to unlearn necromancy and learn warlock spells. I hear they are very much alike, just with less undead. I dunno. I don’t really care. There are several nobles in town trying to start up some treasure hunting groups since the desert has stories of ancient cities swallowed by sand and tombs of old. I think it’s a waste of money and time, honestly, but to each their own. Personally, I hope a bunch of people move out of the city and go on adventures so Porta Vista returns to its calm cool relaxing place.
The letter ended there. Here is more clarification on some topics.
Shinaris was being aided by Totsi when he ran Porta Vista. He had some trouble with the former queen of Brilthociao Lady Ebonbract. Some say they had some history but she never confirmed this. After Shinaris passed Totsi took over completely. Lady Ebonbract was trying to take the lead in Porta Vista but fell ill due to an excess of bee stings. Totsi tried her best to get everyone accommodated but Porta Vista was just too small for the amount of people that came through. This caused a tent city forming outside the walls and outside the cooling mists, and outside the air freshening wands. The city would have been amazing if everyone would fit inside. Shortly after arriving at Jitha people discovered that it was a Planar Nexus. A crossroads of sorts. The plane that Jitha is native to has weak walls if you need it in simple terms. It is easier for things to come to this realm compared to others. If the right knowledge is had you can travel to other realms a bit easier than form others. One realm that has a decent connection to Jitha is where dragons call home. In Jitha dragons are outsiders, not native to this plane. Monks say that they discovered that Crestfall is a different plane created by a very powerful dragon. The monks say that back there he was called The Elder Dragon. He had children, Sages also called Guardians. People from Crestfall know them by name and face but Jithians know them only by name. Many Crestfallen people still don’t really believe them. With these weak walls beings from realms of a darker variety have an easier time coming in. Demons are a lot more common in Jitha. The demons known to the people of Crestfall are typically Lesser and Greater. Here in Jitha there is many different kinds some as harmless as a mouse and some far scarier. They tend to stay out of the spot light its more their style. The lesser ones tend to get into the thick of it and some can even poses the bodies of weaker beings. They have also been known to poses the dead. No with demons able to enter here easier so can angelic being as well. Though they tend to be even quieter than their evil counterparts they are about and in as wide variety. 53 years ago the king was assassinated by a dark troll and ended the line of Ahrimir. A council was formed to rule in the absence of a king. The council consisted of Guild Masters, Nobles, and Commoners. The council found someone to rule as king. Lord Carmine Delroy sat on the throne twenty-five years after the last king. Over the past twenty-eight years he hasn’t really ruled as king but as a member of the council. This was his decision and he insisted on this even after the council refused him. He has done very good things for the people of Jitha and Crestfall alike. He has welcomed Crestfall and made integrating very easy. Lord Delroy claims he is still looking for an heir to Arhimir. The people of Crestfall know necromancy as an everyday thing. In Jitha it is seen as an evil art that is illegal. That doesn’t mean there is no way to summon the dead, or even bury someone. Warlocks have these skills albeit a little different. They can summon the dead no problem, burying is a little different. Warlocks can bury but it only lasts until the next sunrise, but it charges a stone that they carry. The stones can only hold one charge at a time. These charges can be used to gain a bonus, it can be used to reduce the casting time of a ritual by half, reduce the cost of a skill or spell by 1, or cast healing touch on themselves only. At higher levels they get a second stone but only one stone can be used per action. Warlocks also make pacts, or deals with beings of different backgrounds. Theses beings agree to help by granting them abilities, very similar to a paladin’s divine gift. These beings can be anything from fae to infernal beings to holy beings and nearly everything in-between. So yes warlocks can be evil but it is a choice at that point rather than becoming partially undead just to begin learning necromancy. Warlocks and Necromancers do deal similar types of damage ie terror, resistant to healing, also called unholy damage. This type of damage and spell energy doesn’t work on undead. Necromancers know this and that is why necromancy doesn’t work on them, they are partial undead. Warlock’s spells work on other warlocks but not necromancers or undead. The past few months there have been increased amounts of Gruumskin attacks. All over Jitha and including Porta Vista. At first it was small groups of orks and ogres; then more and more dangerous troops including dune trolls and sand rift trolls leading them. With this came adventurers from all over Jitha and with them rumors of treasure and lost cities and glory out in the sands. Nobles have begun hiring people to go out and find these treasures.
