Copying this from the old forums because there were questions about the basic culture/regions of Roekron. It's out of date because it's from several seasons ago (early 2011), but it gives you a basic idea of what the provinces are all about.
Hoping to find more information to expand on this, or else I'll write some up (or maybe Chris has some basic stuff he can post?). Also, having a Roekron political map handy would probably make this all make more sense.
This is the first in a series of post aimed at clarifying information veteran players have but that is not written down in any one place.
Here are the various Insignias of Roekron that would be common knowledge for characters. They are in Alphabetical Order.
Amir Ford
Human Province: Commonly considered Neutral Good, Neutral, Neutral Evil.
Main Groups:
Ladies of the Nightwatch (Elite Law Enforcement Group dating back to the first age).
Main Guilds: Amazon, Ranger, Assassin, Thief.
Royal Houses: Redways, Aramirs.
Major Exports: Custom weapon/armor craft. Produce, sheep, and leathers. Tax on trade a major source of income.
Andionion
Elven Province: Commonly thought of as Chaotic Good, Lawful Good, the two at war.
Main Groups:
Guardians of the Tree: Elite team of Archer, Rangers, Assassin and Mages tasked with keeping the Sacred Grove and the Celestial Trees protected. Elves Only.
Main Guilds: Paladins, Amazons, Archers, Rangers, Life Mages, Nature Mages.
Royal Houses: Feanor (line is extinct- no living members). Currently run by Eliana Starlight.
Main Exports: Magic items, Herbs, Potions, Mage Lore, Exceptional Produce and farm goods. Mastercrafted Items.
Astengrad
Mage School: Commonly considered to be True Neutral or True Lawful.
Main Groups:
Arch Mages of Astengrad: Believed to watch over the use of Elder Sorcery in Roekron and safeguard the region against major Elder Sorcery catastrophes and fumbles. Also set's policies for what is allowed to be done with Elder Sorcery, and these policies are often adopted by mage schools across Roekron. It is believed the Arch Mages are around lvl 90 each.
Main Guilds: All mage types.
Royal Families: Astengrad (extinct- no surviving family).
Main Exports: Very rare magic items, potions, and Elder Sorcery Books, scrolls, and spells. Any magical artifacts.
Blackspire
Ork, Urukai, Oger, Troll, Giant, Province: Commonly considered Chaotic Evil.
Main Groups: None.
Main Guilds: Barbarian, Knight, Assassin, Thief, Flame Mage, Necromancer.
Royal Families: various ork, urukai, oger, troll, and giant families- always changing.
Main Exports: Mercenaries, Barbarians, war.
Dagdeoth
Human Province: Commonly considered to be Lawful Evil.
Main Groups:
Dark Council: Group of representatives from all native species who vote on policies and also serves as a war council. Reigning Monarch maintains a seat on the council.
Knights of the Dagdemar: Group of Dark Heroes devoted to the patron deity of Dagdeoth. They wear all white, with the purple lotus of claws. Consider to be some of the deadliest and most determined of fighting groups.
Dark Guard Division: Consider to be a group of Death Knights which serves as the Generals of most of Dagdeoths armies, and all of their Undead divisions. Leaders are known to be Wraith Knights who favor Morganti weapons and are often used as assassins and bounty hunters.
The Bone Machine: Considered to be a group of Litches forming a powerful circle, many of whom have seats on the Dark Council. This circle allows for mass control of unknown numbers of undead over large areas.
Main Guilds: All (exceptionally self sufficient).
Royal Families: Daged.
Main Exports: War.
The Dark City
Vampire Province: Commonly considered Lawful Evil.
Main Groups:
Carakwaith: Dark Heroes and Heroes turned into Vampires under the control of Broden, the Elder Vampire. Each were at least 25th lvl. The Carakwaith were notorious, undermining other heroes, foiling plots to attack the Dark City, and leading hordes of undead under their control. Numbers changed but were usually around 20.
Dark City Litches: A circle of Litches providing the power base for large scale control of undead from afar.
Main Guilds: All.
Royal Families: Broden, the Elder Vampire (extinct- no family members survive).
Main Exports: Cursed items, fear, war, charm, vampires, paranoia, disease, and a host of other nasty traits.
Dsesnor
Human Province: Commonly consider to by Lawful Good, True Lawful, Lawful.
Main Groups: (note that Dsesnor is considered the capital province of Roekron. Thus it's royalty is decide through a traditional duel between eligible nobles).
Numerous Samurai Clans (too many to list here, but for a sample, Crane, Wu, Keri, Claw, Lion, Spider, Mantis, etc.)
Keri Clan Royals: Use to occupy Estorock Keep, now reside in Mithil Ulienen, they are commonly considered the Dragon Clan, and have been Kings and Queens of old.
Main Guilds: All (Capital Province) but Mages primarily in Serpenton.
Kuni Royals: A new royal family, Kuni Kendrai is the current High Queen of Roekron.
Main Exports: Produce, cattle, sheep, silk, books, mastercrafted weapons and armor, custom items, wood, gold, silver, rare metals, stonecraft, arts, and specialty swords.
Einion
Wood Elven Province: Commonly consider to by Chaotic Good, Neutral Good.
Main Groups:
Ein Ion Wood Elf Tribes: groups of loosely associated wood elves that range in nomadic groups across the region. They are known to double as law enforcement whenever they see fit, and are particularly hostile to Orks, Urukai and the like.
Wildwood Elves: An extremely reclusive group of Elves that lives deep in the Wildwood. They are said to shun all other species, and kill all intruders. Little is know about them, other then that they are exceptionally skilled with the bow and are very wild and dangerous.
Main Guilds: Archer, Ranger, Nature Mage, Life Mage, Paladin.
Royals Families: Amethesta, Eliventana (by marriage).
Main Exports: Exceptional produce, rare silks, wild goods, mastercrafted weapons and armor.
Estorock Keep
Human City (Capital of Roekron): Commonly consider to by Lawful Good, True Lawful, Lawful.
Main Groups:
Wu (or Tiger) Clan Samurai: Elite Guard of the Keri (or Dragon) Clan.
Silver Service: The Bodyguards of the reigning Monarch. They are also widely considered to be a spy network. They dress all in black, much as Ninja do, but with silver crowns embroidered on their left breast. They are usually Ranger, Veterans, Necromancer, Life Mages, and anything else needed (as there are members of all guilds in the Silver Service.
Serpenton Guard: The main arm of the Wizards Trade Order Military, they are Law Enforcement that crosses boarders, having jurisdiction anywhere the Wizards Trade Order is present. Widely held to be True Lawful, they are often human or Urukai and are extremely disciplined and unrelenting.
Main Guilds: All (Capital City) though Mages are somewhat weaker.
Kuni Royals: A new royal family, Kuni Kendrai is the current High Queen of Roekron.
Main Exports: Produce, cattle, sheep, silk, books, mastercrafted weapons and armor, custom items, wood, gold, silver, rare metals, stonecraft, arts, and specialty swords.
Golden Mountains
Human Province: Commonly consider to by Lawful Good, True Lawful, Lawful. (though not currently controlled by Dsesnor, so it's alignment is that of Grimsoeoth which occupies it currently.
Main Groups:
Mages of Glimindel: Mass producers of magic items, Glimindel has long been the source for the majority of all of Roekrons magic items. While they are not know for their quality, none can compare with their speed and mass production skills, allowing them to turn out batches of hundreds of the same type of magic item!
Main Guilds: Flame Mage, Life Mage, Veteran, Knight, Samurai.
Kuni Royals: A new royal family, Kuni Kendrai is the current High Queen of Roekron.
Main Exports: Massive amounts of magic items, made to order.
Grimsoeoth
Human, Ork, Urukai, etc. Province: Commonly consider to be Chaotic Evil, Lawful Evil, or simply Evil.
Main Groups:
Sandstorm Guard: A group of battle trained divisions lead by notorious Dark Heroes, these groups are especially deadly in their native desert home. Usually wearing desert garb to protect them from sever weather, this also serves to disguise them. They favor specialty swords and are know to be skilled Barbarians, Thieves, or Flame Mages.
Main Guilds: Barbarian, Knight, Paladin, Assassin, Thief, Ranger, Flame Mage, Necromancer, Nature Mage.
Kuni Royals: A new royal family, Kuni Kendrai is the current High Queen of Roekron.
Main Exports: Gems, rare animal parts, fine glass work, specialty swords, travel supplies.
Illionass
Human Province: Commonly considered to be Lawful Good, Good.
Main Groups:
Illionass Knights: Some of the few people of Roekron to master horse back riding (a very rare skill in Roekron) these mounted troops are well known for being deadly formation and use of the mounted lance. Usually under the control of Lord Longrass, the Illionass Knights or Longgrass Knights are usually Guildmaster Knights as well as Veterans. There mounted size combined with Giant Strength makes them extremely deadly when they charge.
Nonas Guard: Originally a group called Werek's division, a group that bodyguarded the infamous Half Elven Prince of Dagdeoth, son of Broden the Elder Vampire, the division defected to Menonass after Werek died battling the skull demon. They are now the Elite Bodyguards of the Royal Family, and are known to use Shang Gow, Jitte, and Tiger Claw weapons, disarming and snaring opponents. They are usually Rangers, as well as Veterans and occasionally Samurai. They always wear full helms and have a very strict honor code. They are believed to be True Lawful or True Neutral. Originally all Uruaki, they now have some Humans among there ranks.
Moletown Scouts: Founded by one of the great heroes of Illionass, a mutant known as Moleman, the Moletown Scouts are something of a misnomer. Famous for their elaborate traps, diversions, and fortification building, these troops are as much carpenters, masons, and craftsmen, as they are fighters, preferring to set up favorable conditions for Illionass troops and then back off and provide support.
Main Guilds: Knight, Veteran, Paladin, Ranger.
Illionass Royals: Nonas, Menon.
Main Exports: Wheat, various produce, cattle, sheep, riding horses, human armor, weapon crafting, hired guardsmen.
Menonass
Human Capital City of Illionass: commonly considered Lawful Good, Good, or just Lawful.
Main Groups:
Illionass Knight (see above)
Nonas Guard (see above).
Fenrir Hordes: Bands of Barbarians, usually recruited out of the Peaks of Odilathen, the Stonehammer Hills, and even Blackspire and Dagdeoth. These Barbarians are said to be the personal raiding party of the king Fenrir Nonas, a noted Barbarian, who occasionally sets off with the hordes to wreck destruction on various enemies on a massive scale. These rough crowd is not popular with the masses but tolerated as an indulgence of the king.
Main Guilds: Knight, Veteran, Paladin, Ranger, Barbarian, Samurai, Archer.
Main Exports: As above, but emphasis on finely crafted weapons and armor for humans.
Odilwatch
Human Province: generally considered Marginally Good, Neutral Good, Lawful Good, Lawful.
Main Groups:
The Odilwatch: Originally a group of guardsmen under the command of Astengrad, their mission was to protect the wizards school atop mount Wizaste from any military assault. Though the order was given thousands of years ago, the Odilwatch continue their vigil, protecting The Wizard School from any military attacks, though few have ever been recorded. The Odilwatch also serve as the main peace keeping force in Odilwatch.
The Odilwatch Rangers: A new elite group of deadly and efficient trackers and bounty hunters, these troops are known for being the most effective trackers outside of the Elven provinces. They are also extremely deadly, often using Dark Blades or Morganti, and are thus, very feared. It is said they are the main arm of the royal family and double as palace guards.
Main Guilds: Rangers, Veterans, Barbarians, Archer, Assassin.
Odilwatch Royals: Odil, Oakenshade, Adenok.
Main Exports: Ore (iron, silver, gold, mithril, etc.). mercenaries for hire, elite guardsmen, gems,, commerce (large quantity of income comes from taxation of travelers to mage school, or through Solicon Pass).
