A team of Gideon and Aurora could both deal with filaments and destroy any moriganti. All the rest of the party has to do is keep the maimed away. I don't think we want to give the vampires any more help.

Seeing as we will get higher level characters back next event, I think it would be prudent to send them in and give the maimed a sound thrashing. Not kill them or anything, just beat them. Show them that their actions will not be tolerated, and that we *will* do what we have to in order to stop them. At this point, they aren't going to listen to diplomacy. We have little choice but to use violence against them; to show them that they are outmatched and they will be destroyed if they do not listen to reason and cease their violent actions.
Though if anybody has a non-violent solution that could be implemented, I would much prefer that. But I can't see any that will work right now.

maybe if we get a level 20 or so diplomat it may help. then we could also get a level 20 or so crowd control person and we should be fine.

Adventurers from last season should only be called if they are truly the last straw. If there is any chance at negotiations, they should keep their distance.

Who has immunity to the cult's power? Besides pacifists, of course. Who should we send?

I do not think they will be reasoned with until they are in a place where they hold no power. Unfortunately this means we have to bring them to such a place, and that requires us to defeat them first. I would be in favor of sending in a team of pacifists with some ranged combatants for dealing people who have helms. Then we clear the maimed out and deal with the filaments through paladins having exorcism powers.
After that, we sit the maimed down in a room where nobody has any weapons, listen to them scream at us with unadulterated hate, and hope that they're willing to reveal locations of other filaments so we can take care of those too. Eventually they will get tired of screaming and we can remind them why what they're doing is stupid. Like the fact that waving morganti around DOESN'T MAKE PEOPLE WANT TO HELP YOU.

I don't think that your idea will work. they will probably get more angry. At least they won't help us. I don't quite know what to do but I think that they really won't listen to us if we stick them into a room where they can't get out. They won't see reason that easily.

...They've morganti hacked people. That's illegal. Sticking them in a prison cell with a good legal basis would be EASY. Getting them to understand that point? Also easy.
Also, even if they dont help us, at least they'll stop causing trouble.

Go in, Take their morganti, destroy their filaments, if possible steal their filament records. Leave. Deal with as many filaments as possible and publish the records. At the very least it will delay this problem. Sticking them in a prison cell wouldn't help, as others would become sympathetic to their cause.

Unfortunately for them, they've attacked innocents with morganti. This makes it very easy to put them in prison because stabbing civilian people with morganti tends to be even less popular than cutting out hearts for sacrifice to evil deities. So at this point? I don't think we have to worry too much about new tidal waves of support.
I don't know what the law says about illegal possession and use of Morganti on civilian populations, but I am pretty sure a couple weeks prison time is nowhere near the highest punishment we could get thrown at them. So I want to take that and have them talk to us if possible because if we leave them there they perpetuate the same behavior.
Remember the militia? Two weeks ago? Decent people once you pull them out of the chaos. Maybe some of the maimed are too. Pulling them out of the chaos is just a LOT harder.

We should keep in mind that this is our fault. Sure we can put them in prison, but people will start to sympathize when the filaments are still there, because they aren't going anywhere soon. Perhaps simply taking out the smaller groups and getting them to leave. I bet that most of those people had nothing to do with the attacks at the tournament of the steps. These people deserve some compensation for OUR mistakes.

It's not our fault. It's Whispers'. We saved the nobles at the price of the people, so it's them who should be compensating, and NOT THROUGH US. (They have chosen to do this through a new set of adventurers. While I think that they should take some of the responsibility themselves, it is a very smart move politically. But last generation has done their part and should not be burdened with this.)

This generation is incapable of dealing with this problem. While it may have not been caused by us. We still have to deal with it. The previous generation knew that these filaments existed, but they had more important things to deal with. Now they have the time to do it, so they should.
